Dr. Esther Kim: IVF & Me - The Path to Surgeon-Motherhood

"Nevertheless, She Stitched" couldn’t keep away from the Bay Area for long! WOCPRS pivots back to hear from Dr. Esther Kim, Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UCSF. She also carries the hats of Chief of Surgery for UCSF Transgender Surgery, and the Co-Director of the UCSF Microsurgery Fellowship.  On a characteristically rainy day in San Francisco, Kass and Oge are spellbound by Dr. Kim’s gripping stories detailing her journey to plastic surgery, the birth of her three beautiful daughters, and the absolute fulfillment  from providing gender-affirming surgery to her patients. Unfortunately, politics and prejudice can interfere with all too often; how has this impacted the scope of gender-affirming surgery at institutions like UCSF? Lastly, we hear about her version of an incredible partner in crime, and the three golden tickets for motherhood in residency, of which at least two are needed to successfully ride the train. https://www.wocprs.com/podcast
