For Gen Z and Millennials, that raises some pretty uncomfortable questions: Will my job still exist a few years from now? What do employers actually value today? How do I stay competitive as AI and automation continue to evolve? What can I do to build a career that doesn't depend on one company or one job title? In this episode, we take a realistic look at the future of work, career growth, job security, AI, and career development and what these changes mean for Millennials and Gen Z. We start by talking about the traditional career path many of us were taught to follow: get a degree, find a good company, work hard, stay loyal, get promoted, and eventually retire. For a lot of people, that path simply doesn't work the way it used to. Layoffs, outsourcing, automation, mergers, and restructuring can eliminate jobs and even entire departments. That's why building a career today requires a different mindset. Build Career Capital, Not Just a Resume One of the biggest ideas we explore is career capital. Your career capital is what you take with you when you leave a job. It's your skills, accomplishments, leadership experience, relationships, industry knowledge, and professional reputation. A job title can disappear overnight. Your ability to solve problems, lead people, improve results, communicate effectively, and create value travels with you. We also talk about transferable skills and how understanding what you actually bring to the table can make a career change much easier. You may not need to start over.
