Tim is a physical therapist, owner and CEO at Spooner, an Arizona and Texas based outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine practice which continues to expand yearly. Tim opened Spooner in 1990 with the philosophy that every individual should be empowered with the knowledge and ability to achieve health through movement. Tim has deeply embedded the idea of clinical and conceptual motion into the vision and the culture of the organization, embracing motion as being healthy in all aspects. As a CEO and a physical therapist, Tim has a unique perspective from which to experience and solve the problem of the rising cost of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) for employers. A business owner since 1990, he watched his own company healthcare costs rise annually, directly affecting the company’s bottom line. In addition, his employees’ costs were rising on the healthcare he provided, and he knew that the current model was not serving his company nor his employees well. Now serving as the CEO of Solveglobal, Tim believes that disrupting the current healthcare model is the only way to lower employer costs and improve employees’ vitality. Dr. Pate was named chair of pediatrics in 2014, having been vice chair of inpatient services and division director of pediatric hospital medicine for Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. KU Wichita Pediatrics is the region's largest group of academic pediatric specialists, including the only regional specialists in a half-dozen areas, and supports the state's only training program for pediatricians. KU Wichita Pediatrics provides innovative clinical services, teaching, child advocacy, medical leadership, research and community collaboration, all focused on helping Kansas children achieve health and wellness.Dr. Pate has been a catalyst for bringing community partners together to benefit children across the region and nation. In 2021, Dr. Pate secured funding through a partnership with the Korn Ferry Tour's Wichita Open, one of the premier events of the Tour. The tournament announced a three-year partnership making KU Wichita Pediatrics its charitable partner guaranteeing at least $50,000 annually. Prior to his NBA career, Ron played college basketball for the Wichita State Shockers from 2011 to 2016. After his Senior year of college, Ron authored a children's book titled, "You're too Big to Dream Small." He has personally signed more than 6,000 copies of the book.
