Hear directly from some of the winners of the Bright Ideas' Buy Online Ship to Store campaign!

We hear from OSJL Sustainability Manager Sarah Barraco and Senior Manager of eCommerce Fulfillment Operations Maurice Lewis as they share updates on solar projects and the new e-waste recycling initiatives.

In this episode, we’re talking about Ocean State Job Lot’s Close to Our Heart program, which is designed to empower store teams to connect to the community where they live and work, and give back in a meaningful way. Each store has a budget, and the associates in each store choose where that support goes. I wanted to hear more about some recent donations, and why they were chosen, so I talked to Store 259 - Weymouth, MA Team Leader Levi Garrett, who told me about a donation in honor of the Store Team Leader who was there before him, and to Area Supervisor at Store 312 - Manchester, CT Joanne Felici about some of their recent donations, and the reactions they get from recipients when they receive Ocean State Job Lot’s support.

In this episode, we’re talking about the expansion of Ocean State Job Lot, and how we engrain ourselves in new communities. One of the company’s core values is “We Believe in Growth,” and we deliver on that by opening several stores every year. But how do we do that, particularly in areas where Ocean State Job Lot has never been before? To learn more, I talked to two District Team Leaders who have led the charge in opening new locations in recent years. With Amy Post and John Brown

In this episode, we’re talking about Ocean State Job Lot’s presence on social media. Did you know that OSJL has accounts on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter (or is it X?), and even Pinterest? There are a number of reasons why we use social media, and we use each platform in different ways. To learn more, I talked to the associates who run the accounts, Digital Marketing Specialist Brittany Begos and Senior Marketing Specialist Samantha Severs.

In this episode, we’re talking about the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation’s animal assistance program, To The Rescue. Ocean State Job Lot cares deeply for animals in need. Since To The Rescue debuted in 2019, over 350 animal welfare organizations have benefitted from donations from the partnership between OSJL customers, our charitable foundation, and associates like you. In 2022, more than $456,000 in cash and supplies was donated to 192 different animal welfare organizations, rehabilitation farms, and wildlife agencies across the Northeast. To learn more about To The Rescue, I talked to Philanthropic Communications Specialist Alison White and Store 210 - Kingston, MA Store Team Leader David Couture.

It’s Earth Month, and in this episode, we’re talking about Ocean State Job Lot’s Green Team, a group of Ocean State Job Lot associates who come together to discuss and work on ways to keep our Earth clean through volunteer work, collaboration with our communities, and by partnering with the company’s Energy and Sustainability department. I talked to three members of the Green Team, Buyers Assistant Gina Ghazal, Energy and Sustainability Specialist Richard Llanos and HR Coordinator Valerie Rose.

In this episode, we’re talking about Ocean State Job Lot’s recent presence at the 26th Annual Bryant University Women’s Summit in Smithfield, RI. OSJL was a Bronze Sponsor of the event, and a group of five associates from various departments attended the event and took part in the presentations, breakout sessions and networking opportunities. We talked to two of those associates, Corporate Counsel Elizabeth Blank and Talent Acquisition Manager Julie Romano, about their experience.
