In this episode, we get to speak wtih Dr. Danielle Shugard who is a mobile physical therapist who offers in-home physical therapy, physical therapy for equestrians, and telehealth services. She specializes in treating riders and understands the unique physical demands of horseback riding. Dr. Danielle started her own business as a sole provider and has built a strong network within the equestrian community. While there are other physical therapists who specialize in treating riders, Dr. Danielle believes there is still an underserved community in need of specialized care. In this episode, we get the absolute pleasure of speaking with the founder of Athena Fight Wear, Charlie Stone Shoes, and fellow martial artist, Samantha Capello! Sam is not new to the world of entrepreneurship with her business, Athena Fight Wear. Sam started her first business Charlie Stone Shoes out of necessity for a better dance shoe. She realized there was a need for better, beautiful and more comfortable and efficient shoe to dance in. From this she got to work and was able to make a very successful business out of it! Once this business was off the ground and able to be pretty much be self-sustaining, she found the need to begin her next business, Athena Fight Wear! This too was build out of necessity for Sam herself, but she knew that in each of these situations she was most likely not the only one dealing with the same issues. Women do not typically have uniforms specifically designed for their bodies in sports or martial arts. Typically we just have to figure out how to size ourselves off of the men's options and they call it "unisex." So Sam got to work in creating a clothing brand that better suited women in martial arts! Through this conversation, Sam provides her story and details on how she was able to build her businesses successfully.
