Cambria Olding - on living the sutras: through hip hop, cold plunges, + motherhood

Hi friends! 🎙️🧊Join me in this conversation with Cambria Olding!Cambria Olding is an Atlantic Canada based yoga practitioner and teacher, mother, certified Cold Water Therapy Coach, and founder of East Coast Plunge. Her work is rooted in both tradition and lived experience, shaped by over a decade of practice and years of guiding others through movement, breath, and presence. In 2021, she took her first cold plunge, an experience that shifted something deep and became a steady part of her life. Since then, she has been exploring the connection between yoga and cold water, where breath meets intensity and practice meets real life.Through motherhood, music, movement, and moments of discomfort, Cambria is interested in what it means to live the teachings, not perfectly, but honestly. Her work is about bringing the sutras off the page and into everyday life in a way that feels real, human, and accessible.@cambria.o @eastcoastplungewww.eastcoastplunge.comResources:Books mentioned:The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Sri Swami SatchidanandaLiving the Sutras: A Guide to Yoga Wisdom Beyond the Mat – Kelly DiNardo & Amy Pearce-HaydenCold exposure + research:Dr Susanna Soberg: https://soeberginstitute.com/Communities + spaces:@stayunbounded @ourthrive@truestudiomoncton🧊 Gift yourself with fresh, nourished locks from our sponsor, Everist!A Canadian, woman founded, + owned business + multi award winning company. I've been using their shampoo + conditioner for nearly a year + loving the results, the feel, + the overall mission of the company. Whitney Tfankedjian - on using your discernment within the spiritual community

Hello friends!! 🎙️🌀Join me in this solo session that came to me after my full-of-challenge trip to Australia.I start to reflect on the dangerous nature of some of the spiritual community, even when being approached by those with good intentions. How we need to hold the truth of the world around us, dismiss those who lead with only love + light mentality, + how we can’t put all of our eggs in one basket when it comes to the structures we subscribe to.I share this with love + respect for those I know. I share this holding tenderly those who seek the support + guiding pillar of whatever belief system allows them to heal, gives them purpose, + creates a better life + world for themselves.I also share this with the discernment of knowing who is trying to get me wrapped up in a scheme, in a false belief, + in a system that keeps you stuck, abused financially, in need of that guide, + doesn’t allow you to have agency. There are real dangers in the spiritual community, as people are vulnerable, + seeking. We often come to spirituality because we need guidance, acceptance, + support around hurtful childhood + human experiences. This needs to be held softly, openly, + without negative intentions + motives. There are some who walk this path, not for healing, but because it speaks loudly to them, + provides such beautiful motivation + inspiration. And I have met such excellent individuals who have given me the space, who have aided my healing, allowed me to weep in their arms, provided acceptance, + powerful teachings. To them we bow, to them we recognize the incredible work they're doing.+ we do not discredit anyone for the path they walk. Support your local tarot reader, your psychic, your Yoga teachers, the ones who practice discipline + dedicate themselves. Just know in your heart, you have it all in you. Just know you're enough as you are. Seek communities that are loving + true. Not the ones that leave you with a negative feeling. Remember to listen to that message.Always acknowledge that healing is not linear, it has no end date, + there is validity in how you feel. A reminder that life is very complex, difficult, + has harmed so many people. Remember to be kind to all as you do not know their story, their experience, or why they make the choices they make. Please connect with me anytime if you need support. Brenda Kent Colina - on Art as an Anchor

Hello friends!! 🎙️🎞️Join me in this special conversation with my friend Brenda, at her home in Ucluelet this summer. About Brenda:Brenda Kent Colina is a Mexican multi-disciplinary artist currently based in the seaside town of Ucluelet (Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ territory). Born in Mexico City, she spent her early years cradled by colour and warmth. At the age of eight, Brenda immigrated to Canada and was astounded to see just how tall a tree could grow and a mountain could be. This ongoing dialogue between cultures, alongside her reverence for nature, reverberates in her art to this day. A graduate from SFU's Film program, she channels her visual skills through documentary storytelling. Brenda also writes poetry. While her projects are varied, many promote community well-being and advocate for the protection of our natural environment. When away from these realms, she can be found looking for mushrooms or lifting weights.Connect with her through her Instagram: @b.kent.colinaWebsite: https://bkentc.com/Substack: @brendakentcolinaUnfolding | A Visual Poemhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpMMvARPgA4One of my favourites of hers, La Partida, La Llegada | (The Departure, The Arrival)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VafDzbyoh4  Are You Mad at Me book:https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/are-you-mad-at-me-how-to-stop-focusing-on-what-others-think-and-start-living-for-you/9781668082461.html 🎞️ Support yourself + Tulā with gifts from our partners!Everist — support your hair growth + nourish your skin with this amazing women-owned Canadian company. Hunter Bergen - on following your curiosities

Hello my wonderful friends! 🎙🏔Welcome to this latest episode that was formed extremely organically between Hunter + I. We didn’t have a big conversation about it — we were out taking photos + having a work meeting + she mentioned how she has always wanted to be on a podcast. I thought well, WAIT a minute! We have one, + she’s part of the team here at Tulā, so we should record one so everyone can learn more about her + so she can achieve that dream of hers!Hunter is many things, but for lack of a better term she’s my support here, or ‘assistant’ she helps me with all things behind the scenes + works remotely on our digital spaces so we can continue to grow. I think it’s great that her and I were able to sit down + chat. She stopped into Vancouver for a few weeks after returning from Australia, + in that time we got some in person work done together, photos, videos, + a snowy trip to Bowen to help me do some work at Nectar Yoga. She’s since returned to her travels in Australia + I can’t wait to see her next winter when I fly in later this year.TW: This episode has mentions of suicideAbout Hunter:"How does one describe themselves, when they are but a collection of countless past experiences, and endless desires?  Ultimately, I am an individual seeking direction in life, with a never-ending bucket list, and not enough time to check them all off in this one lifetime.I am a photographer, a writer, an environmentalist, a mental health advocate, a seeker of type-2 fun, and a forever student/lover of life."Connect with Hunter:https://www.goldenhourcommunity.com/Instagram @hunterbergenHunter's interview on the roamers trailMy piece on Substack: inviting in fluidityGratitude for you + your support over all these years.
