Your Art Can Be a Calling from God AND a Thriving Business

Send us Fan Mail 👉 Discover how to build your creative life and business with God with the Thriving Christian Artist Pathway: https://www.matttommeymentoring.com/pathway If you’ve ever wondered how to make money as an artist without compromising the kind of work you feel called to create, this video is for you. So many artists struggle with selling art because they’ve absorbed the idea that business, marketing, or making money somehow cheapens the creative gift. But learning how to sell your art with integrity is not the opposite of being faithful to your creativity. It can actually be part of stewarding it well. In this video, I share a Kingdom perspective on what it means to build a sustainable creative life while staying true to the work God has put on your heart. We’ll talk about why selling your art doesn’t have to feel pushy or manipulative, how the marketplace can become a place of real impact and influence, and why faith and practical business strategy can work together. You’ll also learn: why making money as an artist doesn’t make your work less authentic how to think differently about selling art and serving people why pricing, marketing, and business can be acts of stewardship how provision can create more time, margin, resources, and opportunity why you don’t have to choose between meaningful art and a sustainable business practical ways to move forward with greater confidence and integrity After more than 30 years as a professional artist and over 15 years mentoring creatives around the world, I’ve seen this over and over: You can stay faithful to what’s on your heart to create and still learn how to sell your art well. If you’re ready to stop seeing creativity and business as enemies and start building a sustainable creative life with greater clarity, confidence, and faith, this video will help you take that next step. And I’d love to hear from you: What is God showing you right now about your art, your business, or your next step? Let me know in the comments. Why You Suddenly Feel So Fired Up to Create Again

Send us Fan Mail 🎨 Step into your God-given creative calling as a Christian artist! Get the Thriving Christian Artist Pathway Course + Community: https://www.matttommeymentoring.com/pathway God is waking up something in people right now—and if you’ve been feeling a renewed stirring to create, dream, or finally take your creativity seriously, I don’t believe that’s something you should ignore. Maybe a creative dream you thought was gone keeps coming back. Maybe you haven’t created in years, but suddenly you feel drawn to begin again. Or maybe you’re realizing that your creativity isn’t just something you do —it’s part of who God created you to be. In this video, I share why I believe God is awakening and reawakening Christian artists and creatives in this season, what that awakening has to do with your identity in Christ, and why your creativity has a much greater Kingdom purpose than simply making beautiful things. We’ll explore how God can use art, beauty, story, music, writing, design, and other forms of creative expression as places where people encounter His truth, goodness, healing, hope, and presence. I’ll also share a revelation God gave me years ago about the relationship between faith and creativity —and why creating in partnership with the Holy Spirit can become a powerful way of giving visible form to what God is revealing in the unseen. If something inside you has been saying, “It’s time to create again,” this message is for you. Your creative calling didn’t expire because life got complicated. God hasn’t forgotten what He put inside you. And the dreams He planted in your heart may be stirring again for a reason. 🙏 Be sure to watch until the end, because I’ll pray specifically for God to awaken and reawaken everything He has placed inside you—and give you the courage to faithfully respond. You Thought God Called You to Be an Artist But Now You’re Not So Sure

Send us Fan Mail 👉 Start your journey inside the Thriving Christian Artist Pathway + Coaching Community: https://www.matttommeymentoring.com/pathway You thought God called you to be an artist, but these days, you’re not so sure and you’re thinking about giving up. If that’s you, then this message is for you. Maybe things haven’t happened as quickly as you expected. Doors haven’t opened. Your art or business isn’t growing the way you hoped. You’ve been faithful for months—or even years—and you’re beginning to wonder, “Did I miss God? Am I on the wrong path? Should I just give up?” God wants to encourage you today: don’t give up yet. In Psalm 27:13–14, David reveals what kept him from losing hope in the middle of disappointment and uncertainty: he believed he would see the goodness of God in the land of the living. And then he gives us the key: “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.” Waiting on God doesn’t mean sitting still and doing nothing. It means looking to Him with expectant hope, standing your ground when circumstances tell you to quit, and allowing Him to strengthen your heart as you continue faithfully stewarding what He’s placed inside you. If you’re a Christian artist who feels discouraged, behind, overlooked, or unsure about what God is doing in this season, I pray this video reminds you of the truth: God is still working. Your calling still matters. And this is not the time to give up. Keep your eyes on Him. Keep creating. Keep believing. And keep going. 📖 Psalm 27:13–14 Support the show Fuel Your Creative Calling with Weekly Encouragement Join thousands of Christian artists who are growing in faith, creativity, and purpose. Why Does It Feel Like God Is Blessing Everyone But You?

Send us Fan Mail 👉 Start the Thriving Christian Artist Pathway + Coaching Community: https://www.matttommeymentoring.com/pathway Have you ever wondered why it seems like God is blessing everyone else... but you're still waiting? In this video, I share one of the biggest breakthroughs God has ever shown me about His provision. For years, I believed I was waiting on God to move—until I discovered that the real issue wasn't His willingness to provide. It was a hidden blockage in my own heart that Scripture calls double-mindedness. Together, we'll unpack James 1 and discover what the Greek word dipsychos ("double-minded") really means—and why understanding it can completely transform the way you see God's provision, your creative calling, and your identity as His child. You'll learn: Why God's provision isn't usually the problem. The surprising meaning of "double-minded" in James 1. How fear and faith compete for your attention. Why many believers struggle to receive what God has already promised. How to recognize the provision God has already placed in your life. Practical steps to move from fear into confident faith. If you're a Christian artist who has ever felt stuck, frustrated, overlooked, or wondered, "God... what am I missing?" I believe this message will encourage you and help you move forward with greater peace, confidence, and expectancy. Key Scriptures: James 1:5–8 Mark 11:24 Ephesians 1:3 2 Peter 1:3 2 Corinthians 9:8 If this podcast encouraged you, please like, subscribe, and share it with another artist who needs to hear this message. God Is Leading You Even When You Can’t See the Plan

Send us Fan Mail 🎨 Ready to stop second-guessing yourself and start walking confidently with God as an artist? 👉 Learn more here: https://www.matttommeymentoring.com/pathway The Thriving Christian Artist Pathway is my proven, step-by-step mentoring journey that's helped thousands of Christian artists gain clarity, confidence, and creative momentum by learning to create with God—not just for Him. Have you ever wished God would just show you the whole plan for your life? As artists, it's easy to believe that if we just prayed harder, became more spiritual, or heard God more clearly, we'd finally know exactly what to create, where to go, and how everything is supposed to work. But what if God isn't withholding the blueprint? What if He's inviting you into something even better? In this video, I'll share four biblical truths that completely transformed the way I walk with God as an artist. You'll discover why God often leads us one step at a time, how to trust Him when you can't see the whole picture, and why becoming the artist He created you to be is less about getting all the answers and more about faithfully walking with Him every day. In this video you'll discover: • Why God often gives promises before He gives plans. • The difference between pursuing certainty and pursuing relationship. • What the name Jehovah Jireh really means—and why it changes everything. • Why God cares more that you create than what you create. • How to confidently move forward even when you don't have all the answers. Scriptures referenced include: • Proverbs 3:5–6 • Proverbs 25:2 • Psalm 119:105 • Genesis 22 • John 10 • John 15 • Romans 8 • Galatians 5 • 2 Peter 1:3–4 • Colossians 3:23 • Micah 6:8 • 2 Corinthians 9:8 If this video encouraged you, I'd love to hear from you! God Never Asked You to Put Your Art On Hold

Send us Fan Mail The lie sounds responsible: “I’ll make art when life calms down.” But if you’re a Christian artist with a full-time job, a family, and a mind that won’t stop second-guessing your calling, that calm season can turn into a moving target you never catch. We’re pushing back on that idea with a simple, freeing truth: God doesn’t grow artists in perfect seasons. He grows them in surrendered ones, right in the middle of real life. We share the story of Billy, a working artist with three teenagers at home who spent years away from his studio. He was tired, busy, and quietly wrestling with identity questions like “Am I really an artist?” Instead of waiting for everything to line up, Billy chose to show up. He reconnected with the Lord, started creating consistently, and pursued mentorship and community through the Thriving Christian Artist Pathway. Within a few months, he sold his first painting, got accepted into his first art festival, and began discovering his unique artistic voice. Along the way, we break down four practical reminders rooted in Scripture and lived experience: there’s never a perfect time to plant, small beginnings matter, teachability and godly community accelerate growth, and real momentum comes from faithful obedience rather than striving. You’ll walk away with a clear next step you can take today, even if it’s small, ordinary, and imperfect. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a creative friend, and leave a review that tells us what part hit home. God Told Me to Tell You This

Send us Fan Mail If you have ever sat down to create and felt a wave of doubt hit first, you are not alone. We talk to the part of the artist’s life that rarely makes it into a portfolio: the mental and spiritual pressure that tries to convince you you are behind, not enough, or destined to struggle. This is a direct reminder of identity in Christ for Christian artists who feel resistance on every side and need a clear, steady foundation again. We walk through what God says is true about you: redeemed, restored, reconciled, and fully loved without performing. We also tackle the practical fear hiding underneath so many creative blocks, provision. When you believe lies about your position with God or your ability to be provided for, you start creating from scarcity and survival mode. When you remember you are seated with Christ, you gain a different perspective, a calmer confidence, and the ability to move forward even when feelings argue back. We also zoom out to the bigger calling of faith and creativity. Your art is not a hobby or a small side thing. We name the ways artists are called to carry beauty, truth, goodness, wisdom, and peace into real places and real people, including the marketplace. Then we land on Romans 12:2 as the linchpin: renewing your mind is how you discern God’s will and step into your next assignment with clarity. We close with prayer for freedom from fear, anxiety, depression, deception, and the weight of trauma, plus an invitation to share what God is confirming in you. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with an artist friend, and leave a review so more creatives can find it. What is God reminding you about who you are right now? God Showed Me a Better Way to Sell My Art

Send us Fan Mail One sentence can dismantle years of hustle. After pouring time and money into a major art show that barely broke even, Matt Tommy finds himself driving home frustrated and confused, then hears a clear instruction that changes how he sells his art: “Go home and get your studio ready to sell.” What follows isn’t a new gimmick or a better funnel, but a deeper, steadier way to build an art business as a Christian artist. We talk through three principles that have guided Matt for more than 30 years as a professional artist and mentor. First, God’s strategy for your creative calling is personal. Instead of copying the latest plan for Instagram, Etsy, galleries, email marketing, or art festivals, we’re invited to ask what God is actually assigning in this season. That mindset shift moves us from chasing trends to building a life that fits who we are and what we create. Next, we unpack why relationships grow an art business more reliably than raw reach. Marketing tools matter, but they are not the source. Real collectors, referrals, and long-term trust often come through introductions we could never “plan” on our own, and those relationships compound even when algorithms change. Finally, we separate tactics from timeless kingdom principles, showing how obedience, stewardship, excellence, and hearing God’s voice create longevity while still leaving room for smart, practical strategy. If you’re tired of trying to sell your work by borrowing someone else’s blueprint, this conversation will help you reset around clarity, confidence, and a path you can sustain. Subscribe for more, share this with an artist friend who feels overwhelmed, and leave a review with the principle you’re choosing to build on next. Get Clear on What God Wants You to Create (4 Shifts)

Send us Fan Mail Trying to do everything can feel productive, but for most artists it is the fastest path to confusion, burnout, and a body of work that never quite feels like you. We share Joyce’s story, a working potter who felt that constant tension between what she knew would sell and what she sensed God was actually asking her to make. Once she stopped living in the middle, her confidence rose, her studio output increased, and the second guessing started to fade. We break down four simple shifts that move you from scattered to clear. First, we get specific about what you are being asked to create in this season, and we talk about the subtle ways artists negotiate for safety instead of stepping fully into obedience. Next, we get practical about productivity and boundaries by organizing your calendar around your best creative hours, not your leftover energy. Then we tackle the tough one for multi-passionate creatives: committing to a single creative lane long enough to develop mastery, momentum, and a recognizable creative voice that actually supports sales and opportunities. Finally, we talk about treating your art like a calling, not a hobby, which includes pricing your work with confidence. Joyce’s breakthrough came from pairing spiritual direction with practical stewardship, using a real pricing system that accounted for time, materials, and expenses. If you have been feeling overwhelmed, unsure what to make next, or stuck in “dabbling,” this will help you choose a direction and move forward with clarity. Subscribe, share this with an artist friend, and leave a review with the one shift you are committing to today.
