QUARTERBACKS, CORNFIELDS, & WISE COUNSEL

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about a recent book he read by ESPN writer Seth Wickersham called "American Kings: A Biography Of the Quarterback". Gibbs talks about Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, the savage process of becoming an NFL quarterback, and how it seems that QB's that succeed can stay healthy, understand how to prepare, navigate danger and pain without fear, and realize they need help to win while receiving that help. Gibbs admires what has been accomplished with the field of dreams game and enjoyed the touch of the hall of famers walking out of the corn. Thank you Iowa. Well done MLB. Don't lockout. Gibbs talks about how young Quarterbacks and Old Quarterbacks need wise counselors as do each of us. He looks at the story of King Joash in 2 Chronicles 24 and reflects on the importance of examining who you seek counsel from. Seek the Lord and His word above all others. Go Make Plays! BASKETBALL CONTEST OR TRUTH CONTEST?

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the ongoing debate in the WNBA over whether men identifying as women should be allowed to compete in the league. Over the weekend two former NBA players applied new pressure to the WNBA by declaring for the 2027 WNBA draft. Don't be confused by the basketball and business mixed into the cocktail, that only disguises the true nature of this contest. This is a truth contest, not just a basketball contest. The Bible is thrown to the bench in the conversation at the peril of society. What do you believe about the foundations of truth? Gibbs talks about a video from the Miami Hurricanes football "legend camp" where Coach Cristobal is talking about lifelong brotherhood! If you have trusted in Jesus Christ do you take comfort and pride in your eternity long brother and sister hood as part of the body of Christ? Do you talk about it? Think about it? Do you show love for the body of Christ in both word and deed? This week is the field of dream games in Iowa and the turn toward the final stretch before playoff baseball is beginning to materialize. Gibbs shares thoughts around the top 15 in the preseason coaches rankings in the first released college football poll. Go Make Plays! We are "NOT JUST FANS"!

GREEN DOT LEADERSHIP: GREEN GRASS, FRESH WATER, SAFETY

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about some leadership principles that have been helpful over the years. Over the weekend we saw leaders in the international soccer community oppose FIFA and their monetization plan. Similar to the opposition to the Champions Super League a few years ago. Leaders standing up for what is right and good even if it may be unpopular is part of the job description.  You are a leader. At a minimum you are responsible for leadership of yourself. Gibbs talks about Psalm 23 and some leadership lessons he has learned over the years from the occupation of shepherding and how it applies to sports and life. Shepherds have two main objectives in order to keep sheep healthy and productive. 1) Create a safe environment for the sheep to thrive 2) Take the sheep to healthy grazing and clean water. That is the core of good shepherding and the simplest form of the mission. Where is the green grass and clean water for your leadership responsibilities? What does it look like to create an environment where people feel safe physically, mentally, and spiritually so they can thrive? In order to create these environments the shepherd needs to know the sheep well and the shepherd needs to be accountable for the sheep and the journey to where he is leading them. When you see the "C" on a jersey, the captain patch on a players arm, the green dot on the helmet, all these are signals that an individual is responsible for the green grass, the fresh water, and the safe environment for thriving. Hungry, scared sheep don't eat. Go Make Plays! Remember we are "NOT JUST FANS"!

WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT?

SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST ON YOUTUBE HERE: VIDEO OF THE SHOW AVAILABLE EACH TUESDAY AND FRIDAY BY THE END OF THE DAY! https://www.youtube.com/@ProFanLeague Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about Kerry Wood stirring nostalgia and exciting the Wrigley Field faithful with a ridiculous pitch over the weekend during a Savannah Banana's game. Wood toed the rubber on the mound with no real warmup and delivered an unbelievable behind his back strike. This reminded Gibbs about the story of doubting Thomas found in John 20 of the Bible. Wood you believe in Jesus? Gibbs discusses the festivities at the Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown and asks Team Lancaster Thunder what sports Hall of Fame they would visit if given the opportunity? Gibbs shares some initial ideas on the upcoming college football season and how the theme of 2026 seems like mystery, change, and massive construction projects. The sport is slimy as a muddy football but enchanting as Friday night lights and good BBQ once the games actually begin. Go Make Plays! We are "NOT JUST FANS"!

Smith around money which Smith now considers wasted from his time in the league. Smith talks about how his mindset was messed up when he was in the league. Smith is now exploring and challenging others what it might look like to function out of a new and different mindset focused on the impact they could have on their communities. Gibbs talks about Romans 12:1-3 from the Bible and considers how God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit renew the mind when someone repents of their sins. Is the World Cup trophy the most prestigious trophy in sports? How do you rank the trophies? For the first time 3-D printed cleats soccer cleats were used in a professional soccer game. HR DERBY DELIGHT

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the Home Run Derby festivities from Philadelphia. Childlike joy can be hard to find in a world full of struggle and pain. Last night when a kid caught a Schwarbomb and had a spontaneous group hug jumping up and down with his family that was fun to watch. Do we have childlike faith and joy in Jesus Christ? When an All-Star player slows down to take time with fans we appreciate it, when they don't it is easy to be critical. The opportunity that baseball All-Stars have to bless is equal to the opportunity in front of you and I today. How will you seize the moment? Be like Jordan Walker, six straight shots on his final out. Gibbs talks about the Iron-Man bat, starts dipping his toes into the waters of football season, fantasy football, and offers this question to team Lancaster Thunder; who would you have quarterback your college football team, Vince Young, Baker Mayfield, or Tim Tebow? Gibbs feels Tebow is disrespected often in the world of college football. Go Make Plays! Remember... We are "NOT JUST FANS"!

UNDISTRACTED BY BLING

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about what we can learn from Roger Federer sitting alone in the royal box at Wimbledon this past week. His love for the game, his desire to encourage the players, and his devotion were all attention grabbing. What are you devoted too? Gibbs talks about the upcoming home run derby in Philadelphia and is curious from Phillies fans if they would have preferred Schwarber or Harper in the derby? Also what sporting event ticket would you buy with $10,000? Gibbs talks about the Home Run Derby championship necklace featuring a mini-Liberty Bell and the excellent innovation the Seattle Seahawks made for their players on the recently distributed Super Bowl Champion Rings. As followers of Jesus and those loved by God may we be devoted in our obedience to God's word and undivided in our awareness of the love of God and in our love for God. Go Make Plays!
