The Good Works Podcast follows the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Southern Finger Lakes as they discover new projects, people, nonprofits, and philanthropic efforts throughout this region in Upstate New York.
There are so many special people in our community who support us without fanfare or recognition. In this episode, Randi and Sara discuss school social workers specifically - and the work they do behind the scenes every day.
In the Southern Finger Lakes, CareFirst is a wonderful option for those experiencing grief and loss. Randi and Sara discuss a more difficult topic before shifting into a fun segment spilling "nonprofit tea."
Randi and Sara spend some time talking about Meals on Wheels of Chemung County, an organization that is near and dear to their hearts - like so many nonprofits throughout the region. And be sure to listen til the end because once they start spilling the nonprofit tea, they also share all the collaborations and "side hustles" happening in our region.
Sara rejoins the show to talk with Randi about vocational training, particularly throughout the Southern Finger Lakes. They discuss some of the classes offered for students - and adults - at BOCES. And of course, the podcast ends with some more Nonprofit Tea.
In this episode, Randi is joined by Paul Sydlansky, CFP®, to talk about your options when it comes to appreciated stock. If you're thinking about using stock gains as a philanthropic donation, this episode is for you! And as always, stay til the end to hear some of the latest "nonprofit tea."
Randi and Sara talk spring, baseball, and Mark Twain before transitioning to their newest segment: spilling "nonprofit tea." Mark Twain's legacy is alive and well in Elmira, NY and his summer retreat is available for artists, writers, and scholars looking for inspiration from Quarry Farm.
Randi and Sara talk about the hidden genius of the Southern Finger Lakes Directors Roundtable, a group of regional nonprofit directors who meet regularly to share ideas and schedules, among other things. And stick around for the new "nonprofit tea" segment as it continues to evolve.
Randi and Sarah discuss ELNoST, or the Expanded Learning Network of the Southern Tier. It's a group of agencies working together throughout the region on educational policy, advocacy, and best practices for children ages 8-18. And don't forget our newest segment as Randi and Sarah spill more nonprofit tea!
It's the first episode of 2026, and we have a brand new segment to share! After our lively discussion about libraries - and all the things we love about them - we're going to "spill the nonprofit tea." Yes, it's as fun as it sounds.
In every episode, Randi and Sara share what they're looking forward to. This time, the full episode is dedicated to looking ahead with the new year on the horizon. Happy holidays and Happy New Year from the Good Works Podcast and everyone at the Community Foundation!
