Fixed Income Markets in a Higher for Longer Environment

Interest rates remain one of the primary concerns for investors as Kevin Warsh has officially assumed leadership at the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed). While we believe the possibility of a rate cut has diminished considerably, we are not yet expecting additional rate hikes. In our view, Warsh is likely to chair the board independently and pragmatically in an environment that would make it difficult to justify easing policy while inflation remains elevated. At the same time, we do not anticipate an aggressive tightening stance. Instead, the new Fed Chair may adopt a patient, “wait and see” approach as he evaluates incoming economic data and evolving market conditions.Read the full update: https://www.etftrends.com/etf-strategist-content-hub/fixed-income-markets-in-a-higher-for-longer-environment/

In this month’s market update, Gary Stringer, Senior Portfolio Manager at Shelton Capital Management, discusses why higher food and energy prices are pressuring consumers, but may not be enough to derail the broader U.S. economy. He examines the economy’s reduced sensitivity to these costs, the role of labor supply in today’s job market, and why inflation may stabilize as shelter costs and other price pressures begin to level out.

» Market Rotation: Volatility seems the most concentrated in software businesses, while market leadership is broadening toward other sectors.» Economic Resilience: Ending 2025 with 4% growth, the economy remains strong and supported by U.S. Federal Reserve rate cuts, unlike the 2000’s Tech Bubble.» Private Sector Strength: Core economic health remains steady and quietly strong when excluding volatile trade data.» CapEx Growth: Rising corporate investment in property and equipment points toward sustained productivity and industrial gains in the coming years.» Labor Stability: After hitting a floor in late 2025, we expect jobs growth to stabilize around 100,000 per month, which approximates the labor force growth.

Resilient By Design: Why the U.S. Economy Keeps Surprising

Look past the headlines• Today’s backdrop is dominated by geopolitical tension, shifting central bank leadership, and lingering inflation concerns.• For disciplined investors, the focus is on the structural drivers beneath the noise, and the U.S. economy continues to show diversified resilience despite elevated uncertainty. The labor market looks flat, but the details matter• Net new job growth has been close to zero since August 2024, yet the unemployment rate has remained remarkably steady.• The apparent disconnect is explained by a simultaneous cooling in labor force growth, which has moved in the same direction as job growth.Productivity is the more important story• With much of the federal government downsizing likely behind us, employment gains may be modest from here.• The bigger story is worker efficiency, as productivity can help support growth while moderating inflation pressures.Read the full commentary: https://www.etftrends.com/etf-strategist-content-hub/rotation-not-recession-a-broadening-market-emerges/AND Visit: http://sheltoncap.com/stringer to explore our approach.
