ROCK N' ROLL CIRCUS #99

FROM A SNOWY MOUNTAIN TO A WORLDWIDE PARTY: THE ORIGINAL PLAYLIST! 🏔️📻 Long before Radio Wilder was even a spark in my brain, I was on vacation up in Taos, New Mexico. Just looking out the window at the beautiful, snowy Taos Mountain, I threw together my very FIRST playlist called ‘Father and Daughter’. ❄️ Shelly and I share about a 50/50 split on the tunes and bands we love, so I recently dug back into the archives, found that exact playlist, and thought, "Why not turn this into a SHOW?!" 🤯 ✌️ In The Deuces: I threw the Deuces in specifically for Shelly! I know she is a massive Creedence Clearwater Revival fan, so we are spinning an absolute MONSTER hit—the legendary Etta James covering CCR’s Born on the Bayou ! 🐊🔥 It is AWESOME! 🎶 The Father/Daughter Tracklist: The Beatles are scattered all over this episode because they magically appeared on BOTH of our individual lists! 🍏 My Picks: I am bringing Bobby Darin with Dream Lover and reaching deep into my personal "Homesick" collection for Randy and the Rainbows doing Denise ! 🎙️ Shelly's Picks: She is bringing the heat with The Shelters ( Birdwatching ), Matthew Sweet ( I've Been Waiting ), The Alarm ( Sold Me Down the River ), and Duran Duran ( All You Need Is Now )! 🎸💥 📈 The Stats: In just a spontaneous, ad-libbed couple of hours staring at that mountain, we somehow packed in FOUR songs officially rated in the Top 1,000 All-Time Rock Greats! (Numbers 19, 521, 579, and 655, to be exact). Pretty cool, huh?! 🏆 What originally started as a show purely for Shelly is now packed with the music that ALL of our amazing fans love! CRANK IT UP and let's get rocking! 🤘🎧 #RadioWilder #FatherAndDaughter #TaosMountain #ClassicRock #TheBeatles #CCR #EttaJames #BobbyDarin #DuranDuran #InternetRadio #RockHistory

ROCK N' ROLL CIRCUS #94

Headline: SOMETIMES THE BEST PLANS GET COMPLETELY DERAILED! 🚂💥 I was mapping out our weekly post, but after listening back to this week's show, Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero—aka the LEGENDARY Connie Francis—completely hijacked my brain! 🤯 If you don't know her stats, brace yourself: Connie sold over 200 MILLION records worldwide! 🌍 She was the FIRST female singer to ever hit #1 on Billboard's Top 100, and she scored THREE #1 hits before any other female artist even got close. 👑🎤 🎙️ The Ultimate Accidental Hit: Here’s the wild part. During her final MGM recording session, after 8 songs completely flopped, she was asked to record a 1923 track called "Who's Sorry Now". She flat-out REFUSED! She fought with her dad and deliberately stalled, hoping to run out the studio clock. It didn't work. She recorded the song in the final leftover minutes and packed her bags, ready to leave music behind to accept a 4-year medical scholarship to NYU. 🩺🏫 📺 The Dick Clark Surprise: Fast forward to the New Year. She’s watching "The Dick Clark Show", feeling a little envious when he announces he's about to introduce a "new female singer." Imagine her SHOCK when Dick Clark started playing HER song! In just two months, it sold over a MILLION copies. So much for NYU! 🚀 Connie passed away last July at 87, and as ABSURD as it sounds, she is STILL NOT in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame!! 🤬 I could write ten more posts about her—from her dad forbidding her true love with Bobby Darin, to the unbelievable real-life tragedies she survived. Unearthing stories like hers is exactly why I love doing this show even MORE after nine incredible years! ❤️📻 ✌️ In The Deuces: We are honoring her legacy with "Don’t Ever Leave Me", paired with an absolutely BEAUTIFUL cover by the Cocktail Slippers! 🍸👠 🚨 LIVE THIS SATURDAY! Tim Dietz, President and CEO of the Self Storage Association, will be LIVE in the studio with us! Plus, keep your ears open for live, on-the-fly updates coming in hot from ‘Big L’ and T-Bone Anderson. You do NOT want to miss this one! 🔥 Thanks as always for listening and keeping the rock alive! 🤘👽 #RadioWilder #ConnieFrancis #WhosSorryNow #MusicHistory #RockLegend #RockNRoll #SelfStorageAssociation #InternetRadio #WomenInMusic #CocktailSlippers

ROCK N' ROLL CIRCUS #93

🎪 UNDER THE BIG TOP: DRUMMING TO A DIFFERENT BEAT! 🥁 This week under the Big Top, we are shining the spotlight on one of our drummer buds who always drummed to a DIFFERENT beat! Enter the incredibly cool Show Band, Tapestry ! 🕺 We’re talking about our drummer pal Rick Kern (who also crushed the vocals), Danny Evans bringing the heat on guitar and vocals, and Curt Hespe locking it down on keyboard and vocals. 🎹🎸 The thing that REALLY set Tapestry apart? They could SING. Like, really sing! 🎤 They were making major moves, even dancing around with the legendary Dick Clark , who was trying to package them with Captain & Tennille on their Summer TV Special alongside Neil Diamond! 🤯 Unfortunately, it didn't get picked up, but they hit the road HARD and played plenty of massive gigs in Las Vegas. Very different, and VERY cool! 🎲🔥 🎶 A VOCAL MASTERCLASS: We’ve got plenty of killer rock singing lined up for you today! We are starting off with Lulu, then rolling right into Ed Sheeran, O.A.R., Nancy Sinatra, and Sheryl Crow. 🌟 They can ALL absolutely sing their hearts out! ✌️ IN THE DEUCES: We are featuring the legendary Supertramp doing Give a Little Bit , followed immediately by an awesome cover from Buffalo’s own Goo Goo Dolls ! 🎸 🔥 THE HEAVY HITTERS: The rest of the playlist is absolutely STACKED with No Doubt, Nils Lofgren, Green Day, Jethro, and all the way from Finland... The Flaming Sideburns ! 🇫🇮🤘 August is hot and clammy out there, so pour yourself a cold one, kick back, and listen to a very DIFFERENT version of Radio Wilder! 🍻📻 🎂 9TH ANNIVERSARY ALERT! ROCK N' ROLL CIRCUS #92

🚛 BREAKER, BREAKER 19! THE CB DOCTOR IS IN THE HOUSE! 📻 Anybody remember CB radios?! Back in the day, I ran a store for truckers down in El Paso for Petro Truck Stops. 🌵 Those cabs were the ultimate source of communication, and sayings like "Breaker Breaker 19, it’s the Regal Beagle!" rang out all over the fuel islands and the parking lot. Let me tell you, that truck stop parking lot was like the WILD WEST—a complete city unto itself! 🤠🏜️ 🩺 THE CB DOCTOR: I knew absolutely NOTHING about CBs when I took over the store, so I called in a massive favor from my buddy Neil Waxman, commander of Coronado CB. The massive roadside sign was highly valuable real estate, and I got the OK to use it on Saturdays. We threw up a message that said: "THE CB DOCTOR IS IN THE HOUSE!" We had a line out the door! 🤯 Neil sold a TON of CBs, and we drove plenty of business right into the store. HUGE shout out to Neil—he totally SAVED MY BACON! 🥓🙌 🕊️ REMEMBERING A LEGEND: I was actually thinking about the great John Denver today as I played Take Me Home, Country Roads . It is hard to believe it will be 30 YEARS next October since we lost him when his experimental plane crashed less than 100 yards from shore. What a legacy he left behind. ✈️🏔️ 🎸 THIS WEEK'S KILLER LINEUP: We have a REALLY good mixture of the new and the old this week! You absolutely gotta love Ry Cooder’s All Shook Up ! 🕺 The Moodies and O.A.R. bringing us that incredible LIVE concert energy! 🎤🔥 Heavy hitters: Cheap Trick & The Stones ! 👅 And perfect timing for Marc Ribler’s Who Could Ask for Anything More (as he says, we got Fauci)!! 🎶 🏢 BIG STUDIO PLANS & THE HUGGBOAT: Looking ahead to next year, we are going to try and have at least TWO, if not THREE, Third-Party Management champions live in the studio! 🎙️ And finally... Welcome Aboard the HUGGBOAT ! 🫂🚢 It’s coming near you soon!! Crank it up and let's rock! 👽🤘 (Got a request? Give us a ring on the working request line at (602) 935-4989 !) #RadioWilder #CBRadio #TruckStopLife #ElPasoTX #ClassicRock #JohnDenver #TheStones #CheapTrick #Safehugg #InternetRadio #RockNRoll

ROCK N' ROLL CIRCUS #91

Headline: 🥁 RANDOM MUSINGS, ROCK 'N' ROLL DREAMS, & MASSIVE MILESTONES! 🎸 As I was listening back to the show, I started taking some random notes. A lot of my rock n' roll musician pals and bandmates were inspired by huge bands or individual artists. MY inspiration? Ricky Nelson on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet ! 📺 At the end of the show, Ricky would sing and ALWAYS had girls at his feet... I wanted THAT! 😂 Funny thing though—I didn’t want to play guitar. I wanted to play DRUMS! 🥁 🤯 The Ty Grimes Connection: Cool sidebar: My lifelong friend Ty Grimes started playing before me, and he played drums his whole life with some of the absolute BEST. The ultimate irony? He actually played for TWO YEARS with Ricky Nelson! When he first told me, my jaw hit the floor. I just couldn't believe it! So on this week's show, we have Ricky covering the famous Bobby Darin track Dream Lover , and Ty gives us a killer soundbite explaining exactly how it happened! 🎙️ 🎶 The Hit List & Trivia: The Teddy Bears: Did you know To Know Him Is to Love Him took exactly 20 MINUTES to record and only cost $75 bucks?! 💸 It rocketed straight to #1 in 1958, stayed there for three weeks, and sold well over a MILLION records! 🥇 The McCoys: More musings... we are spinning I Got to Go Back (And Watch That Little Girl Dance) ! It is easily one of my favorite, most vibe-heavy tracks of all time. I can FEEL it! 🔥 Def Leppard: How about Bringin' On the Heartbreak ? That absolute ANTHEM sold a combined 10.5 MILLION records! 🤘 📺 'Conversations' Update: Our epic sit-down with Travis Morrow of The Show fame is currently UP on our Radio Wilder YouTube channel! It is REALLY good, so go check it out! 🔜 NEXT UP: The President & CEO of the Self Storage Association, Tim Dietz, will be joining us for an incredible broadcast out of our Camelback Studio right here in Phoenix on September 5th ! Mark your calendars! 🗓️🌵 ☎️ REQUEST LINE IS WIDE OPEN! Great news—our phone line is officially back up and running!
