Hadassah And Esther: Growing Without Erasing Your Story

Have you ever walked into a room and started editing yourself before you even sat down? That split-second calculation, what to share, what to hide, how to sound “right,” can quietly train us to believe that growth means leaving ourselves behind. I’m digging into that tension through a story I keep coming back to in Scripture: Hadassah, that is Esther, one woman known by two names. We talk about what changes when your life expands: a new title, a new season, a deeper faith, a bigger calling. I share what’s been coming up for me as I step into leadership at work while building my business, and why that pressure can make us wonder if the woman we’ve been will embarrass the woman we’re becoming. Using Esther 2, we look at identity, belonging, and the complexity of concealment and disclosure, because not every environment is safe and wisdom still matters. Someone asks, “Tell me about yourself,” and you answer with your job, your family, your responsibilities, and the roles you hold everything together with. But when the role changes or the recognition fades, what’s left? That question can feel uncomfortable, especially for women who’ve spent years being reliable, productive, and deeply needed. We sit with a faith-centered, practical question drawn from the Book of Esther: who are you without the crown? Starting with Vashti’s loss of position and moving to Esther’s story before the palace, we talk about identity beyond titles, and why your value can’t rise and fall with how indispensable you feel. We name the pressure to stay busy, the fear of being “less” when life gets quieter, and the unspoken rules we inherit about motherhood, leadership, work, and always being available. The Courage of No: When Your Boundary Costs You Something

You can say “no” with kindness, clarity, and respect and still feel your stomach drop when the reaction hits. That’s the moment a lot of us start bargaining with our own boundaries, grabbing our phone to soften the message, offering half of what we already said we couldn’t do. I’m talking about the courage of no, and what happens when holding your limit comes with a real price. We go to the Book of Esther, but we start with Queen Vashti. Scripture doesn’t tell us why she refused the king’s command, but it does show us the fallout and how far one woman’s boundary was interpreted and punished. From there, I walk through a simple but life-changing shift for faith-driven women: don’t just count what your boundary might cost, count what continuing without it is already costing you. Time. Peace. Family. Integrity. Resentment you keep swallowing so you can stay “easy.” You’ll also hear practical, usable boundary coaching: how to read someone’s disappointment as information, how to tell the difference between normal feelings and controlling behavior, and how to make your boundaries real by connecting them to your actions. Bonus: The Grieving the Pet Who Felt Like Home

Some losses don’t just break your heart. They change the sound of your home. I’m sitting down while my grief is still fresh to honor my English bulldog, Daisy Marie, and to tell the truth about what it feels like when a “fur baby” is suddenly not there anymore. The quiet spots hit different, the routines feel off, and for a moment you still look for them in the place they always were. I share how Daisy came into my life after years of dreaming, praying, and surviving hard seasons, plus the small details that made her Daisy: the car rides, the attention-loving personality, the birthday hats, the side eye, the dog park, and the comfort of having my shadow nearby. Then I walk through the hard turn, the signs something wasn’t right, the vet visit, and the heartbreak of saying goodbye. If you’ve ever faced losing a dog or grieving a pet, you’ll recognize how fast life can shift before your heart feels ready. We also talk faith and grief without ranking pain. Psalm 34:18 reminds us God is close to the brokenhearted, even when other people don’t understand why pet loss grief hurts so much. You Can Be Grateful and Still Want Something Different

That moment when you look around and think, “My life is good… so why do I want something different?” can hit hard. The guilt shows up fast, telling you to be quiet and just be grateful. I’m here to name the truth: gratitude and change aren’t enemies. If God is developing a new desire in you, you don’t have to minimize everything He’s already done to take it seriously. We sit with the idea of seasons through Ecclesiastes 3:1 and unpack why a shifting season doesn’t make the last one a mistake. I share my own journey of loving my nonprofit career and still feeling the pull toward building Mommy on a Mission full time, plus how being laid off sharpened my questions about purpose, calling, and what I’m meant to build. We also talk about the two ditches many of us fall into when life gets “fine”: complacency that disguises comfort as contentment, and forcing results through impatience, comparison, and obsession with a timeline.
