DREW MAYER-OAKES | Episode 040 | Live! at MFHQ

The Forty-Eighth Wednesday of Twenty Twenty Four. We reach the end of our second volume of GOOD CONVERSATION. Today, we have a BIG TIME honor to host a guest who has been contributing to El Paso’s film industry by sharing and supporting the works of many aspiring and working film professionals all over Texas. His efforts are through El Paso’s Film and Creative Industries Commission, CreativELPASO, where he has been steadily rebranding and building the organization since 2017. Our guest’s journey in the film industry began in the 1980’s where he found himself in Austin, Texas and then eventually all over as he was able to scout locations and build a strong network through his career. Now, with much experience, he has been present in how the next generations of filmmakers can continue to push the artform forward. Through conferences and his direct support towards growing film platforms, he has lent an enormous hand to where our community can go. It’s an honor to host the guest of our Volume II finale because our flagship program, Midnight Sessions, is a prime example of his and CreativELPASO’s support towards the arts. ARTURO BARRIO | Episode 039 | Live! at MFHQ

The Forty-Seventh Wednesday of Twenty Twenty Four. It's all GOOD conversation only as always! Today, we welcome another Brother of mine to the HQ. However, it's a little different today as I first met him when he was already an alumni who was deep into his career. Our guest is a great representation of hard work en la Frontera. Growing up on the other side of the border in Mexico, he experienced the journey that was crossing into the states for a university education. It is a unique experience for most, but in El Paso, it's something that we see quite often with our special geography. It doesn't make the journey any easier, however. Yet immediately, he nurtured an avenue of serving others and fostering collaboration. Since his education, he's evolved this passion on an international scale. Moving his way from DC to Spain to Mexico while adjusting to changing cultures and policies fine tuned him into understanding what it means to create meaningful and long lasting collaborations across nations. Today, he oversees this for that same university that provided him so much opportunity. [The University of Texas at El Paso] And from what we get to hear in this conversation, the opportunities are STILL continuing to grow rapidly. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, live at the HQ… we welcome ARTURO BARRIO.Chapters:1. 0:00 - Housekeeping2. 1:30 - Introductions3. 3:24 - The Landscape of International Relations at UTEP4. 12:43 - Addressing the Needs of Mexican Students5. 16:31 - Having Non-Negotiable Routines in Your Lifetime6. 22:56 - Creating Successful International Relations7. 29:29 - The Idea Behind Continued Learning8. 35:11 - Readjusting to the Tone of Life’s Different Cultures9. 43:43 - Balancing Different Generations Skillsets10. 55:53 - Working Closely with University Presidents11. 1:01:51 - Determining What to Do After a Bachelor’s12. 1:04:56 - Making the Most of Any Given Opportunity13. 1:15:18 - Understanding The Bill Archer Fellowship14. 1:18:41 - The Art of Preparation & Being Yourself15. 1:26:21 - When Purpose Becomes Secondhand Nature16. 1:30:36 - Closing WordsLive! at MFHQ is a conversation-driven podcast hosted by the Emmeff Pearl team. ANNIE'S ADVENTURES | Episode 038 | Live! at MFHQ

Wednesday number Forty-Six. We continue our journey on understanding the ins and outs of what moves a community forward, and today's guest represents a key pillar of that: the people. Her -as of now- 13-year adventure of documentation has helped connect our home to all of the great local business and art that comes from right here en La Frontera. Through practice and consistency, she has covered so much of the Borderland through different mediums ranging from simple of-the-moment photos to long-form conversations on her Youtube channel with who knows what's to come. Whatever gets the info out there, as she puts it. Her passion and authenticity in her content creation have allowed her to create what is now a massive portfolio of El Paso highlights, and so much more beyond our city as well. Our city has steadily grown closer and closer together as a community, and it's safe to say that so much of that stems from the efforts of our neighbors and friends, such as our guest for Episode 038. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, live at the HQ… we welcome ANNIE PEREZ, the creative behind ANNIE'S ADVENTURES.Follow Annie and all of her adventures at:https://www.instagram.com/anniesadventuresep/https://www.facebook.com/AnniesAdventureshttps://www.youtube.com/@anniesadventuresepChapters:1. 0:00 - Housekeeping2. 1:36 - Introductions3. 3:13 - Finding Where the Adventure Begins4. 14:49 - Evolving the Content You Create Over Time5. 29:50 - Improving on the Marketing of Annie’s Adventures6. 37:08 - The Weird World of Social Media Marketing7. 48:59 - Examples of Local Businesses Doing Great Things8. 53:40 - How a Community Can Evolve with Collaboration9. 1:00:07 - & How a Creator Can Evolve Through Consistency10. 1:09:31 - Closing WordsLive! at MFHQ is a conversation-driven podcast hosted by the Emmeff Pearl team. JOHNNY ESCALANTE | Episode 037 | Live! at MFHQ

The Forty-Fifth Wednesday of Twenty Twenty Four. Our guest today is no stranger to the entertainment community here in El Paso. For 14 years now, he and his team have been at the forefront of La Frontera's progression with music and venues, hosting what is now a mountain-sized catalog of artists at various levels of audience size. Ranging from morning brunches, to shows at their own main venue, to closing the streets of downtown for the weekend, our guest has seen the potential, success, and even some shortcomings from producing events at such a high scale. Through these experiences, he has learned what it takes to grow a brand of such magnitude, and what comes with all of the growth. For us, it's one great night on top of another, but for the team operating this - it's many late nights of grind mode, and many days of some more of that, along with uncertainties and curveball after curveball. This episode, it is an honor to get even just a glimpse of understanding what it means to drive a community's culture forward at this level, and we are appreciative for the transparency our guest provided through these stories. The man hardly needs any introduction! KEVIN ESTRADA | Episode 036 | Live! at MFHQ

Wednesday number Forty-Four. No better time to have a special edition. Today, we welcome EMMEFF FAMILIA.  One of the brothers that's been not only a supporter, but contributor to the platform that we are trying to grow. The time spent being friends with this week's guest is impossible to count at this point. And, with his life's story, time is one of the most delicate things to have. His journey covers all of the corners from not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel to having ambitious life-long goals that inspire us to get our shit together. The patience behind his strategies are everything we want to learn, and seeing the residuals from playing the long game is something that immediately speaks to the soul when thinking of life long fulfillment. When we first learn about our guest, it's commendable to see him build these habits and goals. But, man.... I'm telling you... when you realize just how different everything could be if only a couple more cards were flipped differently. So today, we cover that time and learn about his values and how one overcomes whatever hand you are dealt.  Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, live at the HQ… we welcome, KEVIN ESTRADA. Find Kevs on the Instagrams:https://www.instagram.com/the_real_kevster/Chapters:1. 0:00 - Housekeeping2. 1:24 - Introductions3. 3:00 - A Brief But Honest Yet Casual Dissection of the Self4. 28:07 - A DEEP Look Into a Successful Investment Portfolio5. 1:16:53 - The Journey Behind Getting Two Kidney Transplants6. 1:49:46 - Closing WordsLive! at MFHQ is a conversation-driven podcast hosted by the Emmeff Pearl team. KASSANDRA HUHN | Episode 032 | Live! at MFHQ

The FORTIETH Wednesday of Twenty Twenty Four brings us to episode 032. For a second straight week, we welcome one of my brozays to the HQ. I've had the pleasure of meeting her through my time at UTEP, and since our first introductions, I have been able to see a LEGEND in the making! Her career, and life as a whole, have been driven through consistent values and clear cut goals and ambitions. Habits grow as you continuously enforce them, and these have led her to play a major role in our community's development. Her efforts revolve around improving the quality of life for El Pasoans. To be more specific, this journey of city development was shaped by her early contributions to our economy's development by working with prospective businesses that can bring their companies to the Sun City. This opens up employment and resources for our population thus providing us with new and growing opportunities. Her current focus is within critical infrastructure and during our episode, we learn about what a good chunk of our neighbors are experiencing due to our geography, city age, and other factors. Building and developing our city is involves a massive web of people who are all turning so many gears, and getting a chance to understand that better brought us so much more appreciation - and patience - for our city's growth.
