In this compelling episode of Life in Transition, "Recognizing Your Worth When Others Don't: Leroy Roberts' Life in Transition," Leroy shares his remarkable journey from a poor Jamaican village to international impact. "There is a spirit of containment that keeps a lot of people trapped," he explains, recounting how at just 13 years old, he made the decision to pursue education despite ridicule and resistance. "Wherever you are now, you were led there by your consent," he challenges listeners. "Who are you allowing to lead you, and why?" This episode will inspire anyone facing transition to take ownership of their circumstances and embrace their true value.Leroy Roberts grew up in a small village called Grey Ground in rural Jamaica, where he became the first person in his family to attend high school—a decision that required immense courage and defiance of cultural expectations. Now based in the UK, Leroy helps others break free from what he calls "the spirit of containment" to recognize their inherent worth and lead more purposeful lives. What happens when life's challenges become your greatest teachers? In this revealing episode of Life in Transition, host Art Blanchford welcomes Mike Huber, a mental performance coach with a powerful story of transformation. Mike candidly shares his journey through two pivotal life transitions: becoming a father and recovering from gambling addiction. "I've learned about myself that I am much more of an introvert than I am an extrovert... having that one-to-one relationship of like I'm here to listen, I want to understand you. I don't want to judge you, I want to help you." This philosophy now guides his work with young athletes after leaving a 20-year career to pursue his passion for sports psychology. Why did he make such a dramatic change? His recovery journey provided both the courage and clarity to pursue a more authentic path.Art and Mike dig into the pressures facing youth in competitive sports today and how Mike's approach emphasizes enjoyment over winning at all costs. But can career ambitions and parental responsibilities truly coexist? Mike offers practical insights on this delicate balance, sharing the two tools that transformed his life: therapy and mindfulness meditation. From panic attacks to purpose, Mike's story illustrates how vulnerability becomes service. Each time we share our struggles, he suggests, we cut their power in half. What happens when you stop multitasking completely for one week? The unexpected benefits and painful withdrawals I discovered… - Art BlanchfordIn this revealing solo episode of Life in Transition, host Art Blanchford shares his week-long experiment of zero multitasking and the surprising results it yielded. Art describes how eliminating distractions—no podcasts while running, no phone calls while driving, no TV during meals—initially triggered intense feelings of loneliness and withdrawal. However, as the week progressed, he experienced profound benefits: improved presence, weight loss from mindful eating, deeper connections with others, and remarkably, the disappearance of his chronic afternoon fatigue that had plagued him since recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome in 2020.The experiment transformed Art's relationship with silence and presence, leading him to implement sustainable practices moving forward. He now commits to mindful eating without distractions, incorporates mandatory 15-minute silent periods before any media consumption during activities, and institutes a 5-minute pause before reaching for distractions. These simple yet powerful practices have created space for clearer thinking, better impulse control, and increased productivity on truly important tasks. Art's vulnerable exploration offers listeners practical insights for breaking free from the "always on" mentality that dominates modern life.About The Show: The Life in Transition, hosted by Art Blanchford focuses on making the most of the changes we’re given every week.
