The Harvard Study of Adult Development began on its groundbreaking journey in 1938, featuring a diverse cohort of 724 participants. This initial group comprised 268 Harvard College undergraduate students and 456 14 year old boys from economically challenged neighborhoods in Boston, Massachusetts.
