About the show

Welcome to King of the Ride podcast, hosted by Ted King. A professional road cyclist turned gravel racer... err, rider? I still have that competitive bug now 20+ years into my professional racing career, but poking around the overarching cycling community is what piques my interest. Slinging maple syrup (hello UnTapped !), leading rides, hosting camps, and just enjoying life on two wheels, I have the chance to chat with athletes, entrepreneurs, and all walks of life who love the bicycle. Hop on board and enjoy the ride!

Episode 182: Mount Washington Records Are Meant to be Broken

Records are meant to be broken and our two guests today will likely be holding on their titles for a while now. John Keller just took the outright record in the cycling event up the hallowed 7.6 mile climb to the highest peak in New England. Often called "one of the hardest climbs on the planet", just six days prior, Scott Speed set the best time in a car. You might remember Scott as a guest way way back in episode 14! This episode has lots of great coverage, but one of the best ways to understand what's going on, check out this ridiculous on board camera from Scott's race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwfNDzRcBig Thanks Bicycle Accident Law for supporting the show! Episode 180: Four Pro Athletes Walk into a Barn... Ryan Cochran-Siegle, Ben Ogden, Ian Boswell, and I Talk Nutrition

When Ryan Cochran-Siegle came home with his second Olympic medal in as many Olympic games and Ben Ogden earned two silver medals at Milan this winter, I knew I wanted to pick their brains. Better yet, Ian Boswell is friend and located nearby in Vermont, so we decided to have four pro athletes enjoy a conversation talking with each other, learning from another, learning about each others' sports, the history, the customs, the nuances. Noah Dines is the world record holder of most human powered vertical feet of skiing in a year. At more than 3.5 million feet skied, that's 124 times up Mount Everest from sea level, that's more than a the Tour de France if it were raced for the entire year rather than just three weeks, that's probably a whole lot more than you! Noah is a Vermonter, a skier, a biker, and a general athlete. This conversation is a long time overdue and I think you're going to enjoy it! Here in 2026, however, it's not just Roger, but he's riding and podcasting with his wife Jenny who took on her first 200 miles of Unbound gravel this year! We sit around the back deck, catching up in the days after Unbound to hear the blow-by-blow how it all shook out. This is a great one, stay tuned!
