Four Traits of a Team Player

Great teams are not built by talent alone. They are built by people who are committed to each other, committed to the mission, and willing to bring the right attitude every day. Pastor Q shares four traits every great team player needs: give your best, stay positive through challenges, keep getting better, and stay connected. The goal is not perfection. It is commitment—giving 100% of what you have, choosing your mindset, learning from every experience, and building strong relationships with the people around you. Great teams do not happen by accident. They are built through small, consistent choices made over time. The four questions Pastor Q's team uses to get better: What went well? What could have been better? What did we learn? What are we going to do differently next time? Duke University research on optimism: Optimistic people tend to demonstrate stronger financial behaviors and persistence, reinforcing the idea that believing tomorrow can be better can change how we work today. https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/duke-fuqua-insights/puri-positive-thinking?utm_

Starting a new job, stepping into a new role, or joining a new organization? Your first few weeks can shape how people see you and how much influence you are able to build. Why One Bad Moment Can Steal Your Whole Day (And How Healthy Leaders Don't Let It)

In this episode, Pastor Q talks about why small moments can have such a big impact on leaders. A frustrating email, criticism, unexpected problem, or hard conversation may only last a few minutes, but if we keep replaying it, it can steal the rest of the day. The key reminder is that the size of the event and the size of the reaction are not always the same. Sometimes the problem is not just what happened to us, but what happened in us because of what happened. Pastor Q explains that our reactions can be clues. When something gets under our skin, healthy leaders ask, Why is this affecting me so much? That question helps reveal pressure, insecurity, grief, or something deeper that may need attention. Another big idea is that whatever you feed grows, and whatever you focus on expands. Leaders cannot let one frustrating moment erase everything else that is going right. The practical move is to pause. Time is a tool. A pause gives leaders perspective, helps them respond instead of react, and keeps one bad moment from becoming a bad day. Final thought: A bad moment does not have to be a bad day, and a bad day does not have to become a bad week.

How Do You Lead People Who Don’t Care Like You Care?

Pastor Q talks about what happens when leaders care deeply but start carrying more than they should. He explains why leaders often feel the weight before everyone else does, and how that can turn into frustration or resentment if they take it personally. The episode focuses on healthy ownership: carrying what is yours, helping others own their piece, and not trying to control everything. Pastor Q reminds leaders that not everyone carries responsibility the same way, and leadership is not about making everyone think or feel exactly like you. The big takeaway: don’t let caring deeply turn into carrying everything by yourself. Lead with care, trust people with responsibility, and stay connected to the team while helping them grow.

Why Does Everything Feel Urgent? (And How Great Leaders Stay Clear)

In this episode, Pastor Q discusses why so many leaders feel overwhelmed by urgency and constant demands. He explains the difference between what is truly urgent and what simply feels urgent, emphasizing the importance of setting priorities before the day begins. Leaders who lack clarity often live in reaction mode, allowing interruptions to control their focus and energy. Pastor Q encourages leaders to replace panic with clarity by identifying their top priorities and focusing on the next right thing. While you can't control everything that comes at you, you can control what gets your attention. Effective leadership isn't about doing everything—it's about focusing on what matters most.

We Don't Talk Anymore (Like We Used To)

Most families haven’t stopped talking, they’ve just stopped talking to each other. The natural moments that used to create connection are gone, replaced by constant noise and distraction, and no one has really stepped in to lead what comes next. In this episode, Pastor Q breaks down why conversation in the home is fading, how digital life is quietly pulling people apart, and why this is less about technology and more about focus. He gets into what silence actually does inside a family, how it creates distance and insecurity, and why words, real face to face conversation, still carry the weight nothing else can. If things feel off at home and you can’t quite name it, this will help you see it clearly and give you a simple way to start fixing it.
