Venturing Beyond Capitalism with Anastasia Simon

Hot damn, this is a special episode for so many reasons - a return guest, the last episode of 2023, and a special farewell for THIS iteration of the Fuck IT ALL ™ Podcast.Don’t worry, there’s a lot more FIA coming your way...In the meantime, let’s welcome back Anastasia Simon for a special IRL edition of the FIA Podcast. Aside from being one of our most beloved guests on the show, she is the living embodiment of FIA energy using her positions of power and influence to challenge and change one of the most known toxic environments out there: startup hustle meets hypercapitalism.Hit play to listen along as Anastasia recounts her first-hand experiences on the cost of capitalism; and what it might mean to flip the script from the inside-out, emphasizing that you don't have to be a hyper-capitalist to thrive in a capitalist society. But that's not all – Anastasia dives into the importance of checking biases, even if they're against Gemini men (sigh). She proudly embraces her authenticity, in the workplace and everywhere she goes, ever since she was influenced by her friend Peppers who inspired her to cut her hair and be her most genuine self.Join us for an episode filled with unfiltered wisdom, entrepreneurial insights, and a healthy dose of FIA energy. Anastasia Simon takes us on a journey of recentering, balancing work with the desire for unlimited vacations, and challenging the status quo (or as our friend KT recently coined, startup bro) in the startup world. We invite you to pour some bubbles, and join us in a virtual cheers to 2023, this iteration of the Fuck IT ALL ™, and all that awaits in the year ahead.Sending big love from Kacie, Katie and every FIA woman who's been walking with us on this journey. Glass Ceilings and Sticky Floors with Erica Rooney

Glass Ceilings? Yep, got it. Sticky Floors? Now, that’s something new. Say more.Meet Erica Rooney - keynote speaker, author, executive coach, work and culture expert, mother, executive, podcaster, and overall relatable FIA woman. Erica’s work brings her face-to-face with the proverbial glass ceiling daily, yet it was her own lived and learned experiences that helped her understand that no matter how much you push against it, if you’re being held down by your own sticky floors, you’re going to stay exactly where you’ve always been. Why do we love this conversation and ah-ha so much? Because it’s not just about doing the work on ourselves, but recognizing, naming, and understanding the systemic shortcomings of our work, family, and community systems - deeply rooted in gender bias and intersectional “isms.” (race, age, sex, etc.)The parallels of Erica’s work in the professional sphere are mirrored in her own home life, where Erica and Kacie talk about the complexities and nuances that come with raising different gendered children side-by-side; and how our biases start the moment we come out of the womb. Motherhood and raising children was a catalyst for both women to reflect on their perpetuation of hustle culture, and ask the question - what do we want our kids’ world to look like? Sobering and motivating - for parents, and those of us who are child-free, too. This is much more a conversation and reflection on just how deeply ingrained these biases are, even amongst the most ‘well-intentioned.’This episode is a series of one thought-provoking nugget after the other. Small mic drops, and big ah-has that are best digested slowly. We recommend pausing as you go along, reflecting on your own opinions, feelings, thoughts; and most importantly, how you will take these revelations to not only dream - but plot - against what you’ll bring to life in the new year. Enjoy.Resources from this episode: Get It All In Your InboxThe It All Media Newsletter Connect with EricaLinkedInWebsiteFrom Now to Next Podcast with Erica Rooney (wherever you get your pods)Erica’s Reading ListInvisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado PerezWe Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel RodgersBurnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski  and Amelia Nagoski Podcast production for thThis is an IT ALL Media Production. Be as Big as You Are with Michelle Khouri

Settle in and get ready to enjoy an intimate 1:1 with master storyteller and Queen of Audio herself - Michelle Khouri. Michelle’s work - from entrepreneur and trailblazer to fellow modern woman living in this moment in time - is to change the world through the power of sound. We recently heard, “When we change what power sounds like, we change who has it.” (Samara Bay, Permission to Speak) No one understands that better than Michelle, and it’s why she became one of our very first calls when we started the FIA Podcast 3 years ago.Audio was our chosen medium at the time, because since the beginning of time, what women have to say is qualified by how we look and show up. Removing the physical barrier of having to show up ‘perfect,’ and instead letting our voices tell our stories felt revolutionary, and like an act of defiance and activism in itself. Thanks, Michelle, for the inspiration and believing eyes from day one. Michelle’s mantra, "Be as big as you are," is her rallying cry for women everywhere - a reminder that we're never told to embrace our full potential, to be unapologetically big in our ambitions and dreams; not to mention the physical space we occupy.Michelle’s journey has been marked by a quest to balance both the masculine and feminine energies within herself. This pursuit hasn't always been easy, and it has angered - like viscerally, screaming, crying, throwing up angered -  those discomforted by her boldness. And through it all, she stands firm in her belief that there's no judgment in seeking harmony within yourself. You can begin to see why we love her so damn much.Michelle advocates for taking small steps to enact profound change. This is especially true as we delve into the overwhelming societal pressure to want it all, particularly as it relates to marriage, children, and suburban living. It was her own ah-ha that she was exhausting herself with trying to be small, that she chose a different path. She started listening to her own energies and honoring her intuition, even if it meant making unconventional choices. YAAAAS.In this week’s episode, Michelle shares that she learned the importance of tending to wounds, addressing trauma, and truly understanding who she is and what she wants. #EveryoneShouldGoToTherapy. She talks about the value of not over-identifying with external markers of power, and finding strength in knowing oneself beyond oppressive societal expectations.Michelle KhouriLinkedInFRQNCY Media WebsiteResources from this episode: The It All Media Newsletter Podcast production for this episode was provided by CCST.This is an IT ALL Media Production. The Perks Look Different and Feel Better with Han Pham

This is an extra special episode, and for anyone out there (cue all of us) wondering where to even start making a difference when the world feels so heavy, this episode is for you.Today we have an incredibly inspiring guest who is disrupting the political world with her kickass group of highly informed citizens, Han Pham! Han is the Executive Director at Her Term. Her Term is a Georgia-based (woo!) initiative that focuses on using collaboration to elect women into office. They target winnable seats, recruit more women leaders to run for office, and equip their campaigns to win. And they have! They’ve been winning! ISN’T THAT INCREDIBLE?!Before Her Term, Han was a force in the legal and startup world. But it was during her time in the corporate world that she had an eye-opening moment. She realized she was fighting for recognition, in the annoying way you fight for a parking spot 🙄. AND, all the while trying to climb the corporate ladder and collect those often empty “perks” management loves to dangle in front of employees. Once she realized she didn't really need the perks and she didn’t really want to fight so hard for this, she woke up and had an FIA moment. F*ck yeah! During a sudden, and unjust BTW, restructuring, Han turned lemons into lemonade and took a stand for what she deserved. She negotiated an invaluable PAID year of dedicated time with her new baby, used any free time as a period of growth, and reflection that ultimately shaped her path to fight for what was right in politics. Even though she had multiple offers waiting for her in her industry, Han decided that she wanted something more, something that aligned with her passion for making a meaningful impact. That's when she joined Her Term, and from there, she quickly rose to become Executive Director in 2022.At Her Term, they're not just about winning elections. They're about encouraging candidates to keep pushing forward, no matter the outcome. It's about recognizing the significance of the journey, win or lose, and the profound impact it has on the community. Her Term's impact in turning Georgia blue is a testament to the collective effort and determination they bring to the table. And it's not just about politics; they provide crucial therapy for their candidates, recognizing the emotional toll that the binary nature of politics can take. It has us thinking about what politics would look like if this were a required service for every public servant?Listen to Han's incredible journey to hear more about her resilience, empowerment, and her unwavering belief in the power of women's voices. You don't want to miss it! AND, for all our Atlanta/Georgia friends, we invite you to support Her Term’s mission to bring more women into office as a part of the Can’t Wait Fundraiser on November 2nd. We are thrilled to be official partners and sponsors for this event, AND hope to see as many of you as possible there! Can’t join, but still want to support? Consider donating whatever you can towards Her Term’s efforts - we personally love a monthly $50 contribution.Hit play, get inspired, get involved.Han PhamHan’s TEDxWomen TalkHer Term WebsiteHer Term Can’t Wait Fundraiser - November 2ndHan’s LinkedInResources from this episode: The It All Media Newsletter Podcast production for this eThis is an IT ALL Media Production. Embracing Middlesence with Barbara Brooks

There are a handful of topics that over the past several years have blown our minds, dropped our jaws, and been a formative rewrite on the highest levels. Cue today’s conversation with Barbara Brooks, Founder of Second Act Women, for that in spades. Enjoy. Today’s main objective: celebrate and honor the POWER of middlesence, shattering harmful (and frankly BS) age-related stereotypes and embrace the beauty that comes with every phase of life ✨Right now - ⅛ of the global population are experiencing menopause, while simultaneously controlling 1/10 of the global spending power. And, STILL, the majority feel overlooked, unheard, and undervalued by society. We're addressing ageism and ableism - the two isms that can affect us at any point in our lifetime. Middlesent women often find themselves excluded from so many aspects of life, including from the job market. But, with the help of this week’s guest, Barbara Books, we're here to encourage them to take charge of their own economic power. Starting their own businesses, building their own networks, and creating their own universes is not only possible but empowering 💪🏼And now, let's talk about the pressure to reverse aging! It's time to say no to the anti-aging routines and simply embrace our age. After all, aging gracefully means embracing all aspects of life, from the joys to the challenges.Join us as we celebrate the second act of these incredible women and work to undo all the unnecessary pressures that women in middlesence have to face. In this week's episode, we talk about letting go of anti-aging rhetoric, how to manage menopause symptoms when you haven’t been taught how to, and how to create sustainable intergenerational workplace relationships. Remember, you're not alone in this. Feel what you need to feel and embrace every moment of this beautiful life.
