We explored how fear, media narratives, policy failures, and historical injustice shape the way societies respond to displaced people, while also coming back again and again to a simple truth: before anyone is labeled a refugee or immigrant, they are a fellow human being. Stephanie shared how her own background, family history, and years of working alongside refugee and immigrant communities shaped her perspective on belonging, policy, and compassion. We also dove into the heart of Stephanie’s work at Everyplace: helping refugee-led communities create beauty, ownership, and a greater sense of home in the places where they are rebuilding their lives.
