Nguyen is the second generation family business owner of Advance Beauty College graduating over 50,000 beauty professionals over its 37 year history. The nation's premier nail-salon training program headquartered in Orange County's Little Saigon ranks among the largest in the U.S. Advance Beauty College is an industry leader having launched in 2020 a hybrid online learning option setting the bar as an industry pioneer. Nguyen also served two terms on the prestigious national board of directors for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools from 2010-2016.  Additionally, Nguyen is the past chairman and CEO of the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County (2009-2013) and founding chair of the Small Business Diversity Network (SBDN). He has taught business management at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) as a faculty member since 2016 with an emphasis on Family Business Dynamics. Nguyen is very active in the community serving in leadership roles for numerous public agencies and nonprofits such as the Orange County Transportation Authority, where he serves as its 2024 chair. He serves as chair of the Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) Philanthropic Foundation Board of Governors and as a board member of the Orange County United Way (Past Vice Chair), the Garden Grove Community Foundation (Past President), MemorialCare's Orange Coast Medical Center (Fountain Valley) and MemorialCare’s Saddleback Medical Center (Laguna Hills) and Genesis Bank (Newport Beach). Nguyen also is cofounder of Nailing It For America that provided $30 million dollars worth of personal protective equipment and over 85,000 restaurant meals to healthcare workers and vulnerable seniors during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Tam was born in Vietnam, arrived to the United States at the age of one and raised in both Los Angeles County (Walnut) and Orange County (Westminster). He graduated from UC Irvine (1995), AUC (2000) and CSUF (2005) and holds both MD and MBA degrees. The role Nguyen enjoys the most, along with his wife Christine, is being parents to their three children.
