As artists we need to be proud of what we do and demand respect. In America it seems doctors, lawyers even entertainers are treated with more respect. This needs to change. We provide a great service to our community and country.
There is the constant debate about illustration and crafts being real art? What do you think? Does it even matter? How do you market yourself?
True, Art Does Not Sell, itself. As the artist you need to sell it to your buyers, to a gallery to a museum to business. It won't just sit there and sell itself. Listen and I will explain a bit.
Way too many artists under price their art and some even give it away for that dreaded "Exposure" scam. And never ever give away the rights to your art for posters or merch. You as the artist own the rights to your image, period. Tom Megalis is a professional artist and you should listen.
Don't wait for a gallery to "find you" or a big time patron to "discover you." You can sell your art directly to the people who love it. And in some ways this is THE BEST way to make a living as an artist. You will be in control.
