Pippa Parfait, Disobedient Rulebreaking Leader & Coach

My guest this episode is the amazing Pippa Parfait, an online business coach who emphasizes and supports breaking out of the "should"s and "online biz rules" that plague and paralyze so many entrepreneurs and online business owners. She is MY business coach and I can't say enough about the support she's provided me,  "lovingly" pushing me out of any negative spirals, misguided assumptions, and mindset blocks. Pippa brings humanity, and a great deal of humor, back into the question of creating and maintaining a sustainable business, reminding us that we EACH get to define what success looks like for us, AND what sustainable means and feels like to us individually! Speaking as a member of her coaching mastermind - the Disobedient Biz Co MasterMind - Pippa supports the notion of self-belief to its most liberating outcome: a business I'm proud to own, nurture, and lead. Listen is as we chat about all the things that bring Pippa  - and me - all the way alive in our work and in our extracurricular activities, including her commitment to wild (read "cold"!) water swimming. You can reach Pippa at pippa@disobedientbusiness.com and find her website at: https://disobedientbusiness.com/Connect with Pippa on the socials at:  Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/disobedientbusinessco/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pippaparfait/You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoachingI'm currently enrolling for the Meant For More Mastermind, THE group coaching program for senior leaders and executives age 45+ like YOU who know you want more for your role, your career and your life. Nick Clayton: Consultant, Coach & Sales Expert

My guest this week is Nick Clayhton, someone I met in graduate school when we were both studying for our Masters in Organizational Development. We reconnected a few years ago when Nick was leaving his “day job” for his new venture as an executive coach and consultant to small and medium sized businesses. He’s now a part of my monthly Coaches Cohort, where we connect, share our progress and challenges, and generally support one another. The best part about Nick is that he is all there: present when you speak with him, and full of heart when he’s at work or play. You can learn more about Nick at his LinkedIn profile, and reach him directly at NickGClayton@outlook.comYou can find & follow Nick on the following socials:LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-clayton-2a95a48/You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoachingYou can get more information about my Meant For More Mastermind, THE group coaching program for senior leaders and executives who want MORE for themselves in their roles, careers and their lives, HERE!

Scott Robson Talks about Adaptotypes

My guest this week is Scott Robson, an experienced and compassionate coach who supports mindful, wholehearted entrepreneurs and small business owners on their journeys. He helps them develop aligned confidence, self-belief and sustainable momentum.Scott and I both trained at the Self-Belief Coaching Academy, and we talk about the work Scott has done jumping off from themes of self-doubt into overwhelm. Scott has developed a model of how we respond to overwhelm, dubbing his six response types “adaptotypes” as key, useful responses to feelings of overwhelm. You can hear about them, and explore your own adaptotype at the quiz on his website! It’s a great way to learn more about yourself (and get support in deepening your understanding).I hope you enjoy our conversation about navigating as an entrepreneur and following our curiosity, which for him, resulted in a model that helps all who take it gain insight into themselves. You can learn more about Scott and the Adaptotypes at www.scottrobson.net, and reach Scott directly at sr@scottrobson.netYou can find & follow Scott on the following socials:Instagram:  https://instagram.com/scott.robson.coachingFacebook:  https://www.facebook.com/scottrobsoncoachingLinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-robson-cpc/You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.com and reach me directly at Susan@SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching

Let's Talk Politics!

I’m my own guest this week! I’ve had politics on my mind lately - the recent Supreme Court rulings in the US, in particular. In this solo episode, I speak to my increasing belief that politics - big or little “p” - is interwoven in all we do in a rich, intentional life. I’m still navigating how much politics ought to enter my social media or emails; this podcast is my attempt to think out loud and come to terms with being a solo-preneur in an increasingly politically divisive world. You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.com and connect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching

A New Venture & Collaboration: with Susan & Juliet Clothier

My guest this week is my friend, client and now collaborator, Juliet Clothier, who listeners may remember from Episode 3! Juliet is in transition from an ‘in house’ CFO role back to her role as a leadership consultant and executive coach, including fractional and interim CFO services. In this short episode, we are introducing our new collaborative venture, Secrets of the C-Suite. For me, this venture has highlighted an insight about my own working style: I’ve discovered that I come all the way alive when I’m in a good collaborative relationship. Juliet & I will be offering a number of activities, products & services under the Secrets of the C-Suite umbrella, starting with our new podcast! Our bi-weekly episodes will feature deep dives and discussions on being in, supporting and aspiring to the C-suite, and all kinds of discussions on leadership in organizations. We will undoubtedly if occasionally focus on stories and experiences of gaps in leadership and corporate fuckery - and please note that we do expect our podcast to be a bit on the sweary side! The launch date for Secrets of the C-Suite: The Podcast is July 15, and we can’t wait. You can find & follow Secrets of the C-Suite at LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/9815488/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/secrets_of_the_c_suite/You can write to us at secretsofthecsuite@gmail.com You can find Juliet onInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/juliet_clothier_consulting/Website: https://www.JulietClothier.comYou can write to Juliet at julietclother@gmail.comYou can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.com and connect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching

Sarae Pratt: From Aeronautical Engineer to SOARing Leadership Coach

My guest this week is Sarae Pratt, a vibrant leadership coach for female-identified leaders. I met Sarae recently as a fellow participant in a coaching program, and I enjoyed a recent brainstorming session so much I wanted her to join me on the podcast. Sarea’s background is fascinating to me: she trained as an aeronautical engineer at university with a side of German! Her experiences of being one of the few women in a room, as well as her experience with burnout (twice), led her to imagine a world where women leaders are confident, contributive, as well as joyful and burn-out free. She works in corporate bringing her SOAR leadership program to women in those organizations, and she also offers a “stand-alone” SOAR program for women either not affiliated with corporate or wanting to have their development experience outside of their corporate life.I hope you enjoy our conversation around her journey, our experience with leadership in corporate, and get insight into the vision Sarae has for the future. You can reach Sarae at sarae@saraepratt.com and can find her at https://saraepratt.com/Find Sarae on her socials:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarae.pratt/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sarae.prattLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/saraepratt/You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching

Some Thoughts on Pervasive Overwhelm

In this short episode, I speak to the pervasive overwhelm I’m seeing in so many people these days. It seems all of us are at the edge of things, and feeling both not in control AND full of grief at the state of the world. Being all the way alive isn’t only about the good feelings; staying present with the hard stuff is also about being “all the way the alive.”My goals with this episode are 1)  to remind us all that what we are feeling - the overwhelm, the fear, the grief - is completely normal given what we see around us, both close in as well as across the globe. Also: none of is alone in these feelings. And 2) that there are a few steps we can take as individuals to work with the overwhelm, to live with it rather than pretend or wish we weren’t feeling it. Like all difficult feelings, it can be hard; but staying present for the feelings will allow them - and you - to flow. I’d love to know if this episode landed for you, and if the exercises were helpful. (I use them myself, and they work for me.) You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching

Mags Scroope: Teacher, Trainer, Airbnb Host & Entrepreneur

My guest this week is Mags (Margaret) Scroope whose professional life has included being a teacher, corporate trainer, Aibnb host, and now entrepreneur! Mags is also a dear friend we met when we stayed in her Airbnb in Johannesburg, and she warmly invited us for a glass of wine to learn more about us, Americans who own a farm in the Free State!Mags’ vibrancy and zest for life is the primary reason I wanted her to join me on the podcast. As she relays her professional and life experiences, and reflects on what she has learned, you’ll experience first hand how All the Way Alive she is! Mags is a great storyteller and she had me in stitches as she described resigning from a job. I encourage you to listen to the end for her reflections and appreciation for some of the challenges of living in South Africa!I loved talking with Mags, and hope you enjoy our conversation. You can reach Mags at mags.scroope@icon.co.za. Tree Top Retreat, one of her three Aribnb rentals in the Parkview neighborhood of Johannesburg can be found here. You can find me, Susan, at SusanASutherland.comConnect with me on my socials: LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/susan-a-sutherland-she-her-a03ba933/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susan_a_sutherland/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susanasutherlandcoaching
