54. Self-enablement: The daily practices that are key to sustainable high-performance

Leadership is a performance sport. It takes focus to deliver long complex projects. It takes clarity to make swift, clear decisions without a lot of information. It takes emotional grounding and maturity to stabilise a team in crisis. It takes endurance to work against tight deadlines late into the night and weekend. How are you supporting yourself to show up at your best? Is your current way of working sustainable or are you one stressful situation away from burning out or your performance taking a knock? No one is coming to force us to take care of ourselves so it is in wisdom that we must learn to press in and lead ourselves.Topics discussed:The 4 areas of our lives that we cannot afford to not take care ofThe power of daily practice vs. sporadic self-careThe need for holistic self-care – spiritual, mental, emotional and physicalPractical examples you can start integrating into your morning or evening routine today5 tips for how to make your daily routine stick --Book a once-off coaching session to get real-time support to help you move forwardBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call to explore a coaching package or custom journeyBook a human design reading to help you determine your leadership archetype and the best way to thrive in your leadershipReach out for team retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up to receive my leadership letters and hear about upcoming classes, workshops and retreatsConnect with me on LinkedIn and Instagram

53. Mindset Mastery: Getting back in the driver’s seat of your career

Who is in the driver’s seat of your career – you, or your fear, insecurity and limiting beliefs about the world? So many of us, myself included, have been conditioned to believe things that do not support us to build the careers we truly want and show up as leaders in a way that helps us to have the impact we desire. I call these rogue beliefs – mental agents that operate quietly in the background sabotaging our lives. But we have a way out. By mastering our mindset and empowering ourselves to consciously and deliberately write new more empowering stories about ourselves and life, we can finally change the direction of our lives. We can finally take over the reins, become self-leaders and steer our lives in the direction we want to go in. Let’s explore how.Topics discussed:The incredible power of the subconscious mindHow to replace disempowering beliefs with empowering onesThe key requirement you can’t miss if you want your brain to trust a new belief --Book a once-off coaching session to get real-time support to help you move forwardBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call to explore a coaching package Book a human design reading to help you determine your leadership archetype and the best way to thrive in your leadershipReach out for team retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up to receive my leadership letters and hear about upcoming classes, workshops and retreatsConnect with me on LinkedIn and Instagram

52. 3 keys that create real and lasting career abundance

All of us want abundance – growth, confidence, security, fulfilment and a sense of living our purpose. And while many of us have careers and leadership roles that look good on paper, the feeling of flow, expansiveness, sustainability and deep meaning is elusive. Work feels hard, leadership feels complicated, and we don’t feel truly successful.Following hundreds of sessions with coaching clients over the years, I’ve developed a pathway to abundance that can help us get to a place where we can start to feel clear, confident, secure and enabled to truly thrive as our authentic selves in our careers. This pathway has 3 keys: Mindset mastery, authentic power, and performance enablement. Let’s explore what this looks like and how you can bring it to life in your career and leadership journey.Topics discussed:What abundant leadership is and how to experience itThe 3 keys to abundance and how to identify which one is lacking in your careerThe imperative for leaders to manage ourselves as deliberately and consistently as we manage the businesses we lead --Book a once-off coaching session to get real-time support to help you move forwardBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call to explore a coaching package Book a human design reading to help you determine your leadership archetype and the best way to thrive in your leadershipReach out for team retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up to receive my leadership letters and hear about upcoming classes, workshops and retreatsConnect with me on LinkedIn and Instagram

50. Don't wait for motivation: A better way to achieve your goals

50. Don't wait for motivation: A better way to achieve more Many of us get to mid-year and run into a slump. We haven’t achieved the goals we laid out for ourselves nearly as fast or as diligently as we imagined we would when motivation was high in January. What relationship do we have to have with ourselves, with motivation and productivity expectations, or with the fear, inertia and resistance that naturally comes up when we are moving towards something new or something more?Instead of berating ourselves, throwing in the towel or barrelling down a fruitless path, can we pause and consider a different approach? A more realistic, calm, steady approach that works with who we are, not against it? Today I explore a different way of addressing that proverbial mid-year slump to find renewed momentum towards our goals.Topics discussedThe myth of consistency and how it blocks our progressHow knowing I’m a Manifestor archetype in Human Design and have an open sacral centre has helped me to design and execute my goals in my own way using execution sprints - leading to way more completion than when I was trying to be “consistent”How inertia and hesitation to act is sometimes fear of failure and taking risksWhat we essentially need to believe about our ability to survive, and the value of the journey vs the destination in order to stare risk in the face and take it on What my Human Design value creation archetype (i.e., my profile lines) taught me about how I’m designed to overcome risk, and the mental blocks that can get me stuck and losing momentum --Join Momentum my mid-year leadership workshop on 29th July 2025 where we are diving back into the vision and goals we set for 2025 and infusing them with new energy, overcoming any inertia or mental blocks that have made our goals feel out of reach, and picking that right next action that will bring us back into making our dreams a reality. If this empowering recalibration feels like what you need, I can’t wait to see you.--Book a human design reading to help you determine the next step on your path, own your career story through the lens of your unique combination of skills, strengths, and, and learn how you attract and open doors to the most expansive career opportunities for yourself.Book a free 1x1 coaching discovery call to get unstuck in your career or leadership journey Reach out for team retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up for the mailing list to hear about upcoming eventsFind me on LinkedIn and Instagram

49. Warren Ndlovu: The non-linear journey to doing work you love, succeeding as a generalist

Today is an informal conversation with my close friend, Warren Ndlovu, about the unconventional path he’s taken to doing the work he loves and the obstacles he’s overcome along the way. Warren is an early-stage climate tech strategy and operations executive with a background in derivatives structuring at Absa, management consulting at McKinsey & Company, and fintech and telecoms at Econet Global (now Cassava Technologies). His journey has taken creativity, courage, adaptability, a thick skin, a willingness to play the long game, and the focus to always keep the big picture in mind when he faced setbacks. If you’re struggling to break into the work that you long to do, or are a generalist with a non-linear path who has struggled to own your story, join me in this inspiring conversation.  We openly discussHow hard it was to find a foothold in the sustainability sector – and how he finally broke throughThe strategic choices he made as he pivoted into diverse roles seeking to gain the experience and exposure he neededThe choice to do a joint MBA and Masters at The Wharton School and University of Pennsylvania, using education to establish himself as a sustainability and climate expertWhat he would do differently if he could do it all again Learn more about Warren on LinkedIn. --Book a human design reading to help you determine the next step on your path, own your career story through the lens of your unique combination of skills, strengths, and, and learn how you attract and open doors to the most expansive career opportunities for yourself.Book a free 1x1 coaching discovery call to get unstuck in your career or leadership journey Reach out for team retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up for the mailing list to hear about upcoming eventsFind me on LinkedIn and Instagram

48. Is being a caring leader burning you out? + 4 strategies to fix it

As we mature as leaders, people increasingly look to us for caring, empathy, a sense that they matter and are being managed in a humane way. Indeed, it’s our job to be emotionally intelligent and understand how much the way we treat others impacts their performance and wellbeing and the company’s culture and desirability to prospective hires. But no one talks about caregiver burnout – the burnout that happens when leaders over-give and extend themselves past their limits. If you’re seen as the go-to person in your company and everyone loves how you make them feel, but you’re crumbling under the pressure to be there for everyone, do it all, and you wonder when will there be time for you – something needs to change.Let’s discuss:What *true* caring leadership is and isn’tThe fallout when we over-give – and how it can hurt our reputation and performance4 strategies you can use to stop over-giving, people pleasing and perfectionism (hint: two involve boundaries and healthy selfishness)Putting it to practice in a personal way: How I use 3 of my specific Human Design strengths to be a caring leader in my own unique way and avoid burning out by trying to imitate others --Book a human design reading to personalise the insights from this episode to your own personal strengths, leadership archetype and unique way of leading teamsDownload your human design chart and get a free introductory reportBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call or reach out for retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companySign up for the mailing list to hear about upcoming eventsFind me on LinkedIn and Instagram

47. Susan Lieu: Intergenerational trauma, releasing outdated career goals and creating your own leadership identity

Today I’m joined by a fellow student from my Harvard days, Susan Lieu – a management consultant turned author, playwright, and performer. She joins us to explore how unhealed intergenerational trauma shapes how we lead, the choices we make in our careers, and our ability to live a life that’s authentic to our values instead of focussed on survival and pleasing our families. We have a deeply vulnerable, soul-elevating conversation about how hard it is to go against the grain and follow your calling into the life that you were truly created for, even if it upsets people you love. Susan and I also discuss her critically acclaimed memoir, “The Manicurist’s Daughter,” and the wisdom she’s gained from writing about how her mother’s death during a tummy tuck changed her life and her family forever. Topics discussed:Intergenerational trauma, the cost of silence and protecting our families secretsOvercoming the fear of pivoting careers from corporate to the arts as an A-type high-achieving financially-driven Harvard graduateHow hard it is to find enoughness in your leadership and career journey, and as a parentHow Susan brought more fulfilment into her career by discovering her top 3 valuesThe role our careers play in our personal growth stories and the unfolding of our soul’s highest purpose Order Susan’s book “The Manicurist’s Daughter , follow her on LinkedIn and Instagram or visit her website. Themes: Trauma-healing, trusting your career path, leaders of colour, career fulfilment, self-worth, inner work--Sign up for the mailing list to hear when leadership support circles launch and get early access discounts to upcoming eventsBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call or reach out for retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companyFind me on LinkedIn and Instagram

46. The power of following your heart – and why it’s hard for us to do as leaders

Many of us have been raised to believe that hard work, focus, practicality and responsibility are the keys to success. As a society we most celebrate the rags to riches stories that involve grit, resilience and hustle. But what often goes undiscussed is that these great inventors and business mavericks were often following their hearts – or the calls of their soul. The grit etc was in response to the scale of desire that thrummed within them for something different, more, exciting, wondrous, impossible, but oh so true to their soul’s purpose and heart’s desire. As leaders we so often struggle to harness the incredible power of our hearts’ desires in favour of ruling ourselves with our heads and following the proven method. The wild unknown path terrifies us, and thus its gift of newness, fulfilment, expansion and purpose alignment is lost to us. How do we learn to listen to, trust and follow our hearts in our career pathways and leadership approach and trust that we will be successful?Topics discussed:What is lost to us when we rule with our heads over our heartsOur reptilian brain’s need for security and guaranteed returns and why it leads us down the beaten path and away from our hopes and desires How to heal your relationship with desire, the unknown, your sense of duty and fear of loss to let your desires bring you successMy story of bringing strategy vs desire, mind vs heart, duty vs passion into harmony so that they work together for my highest good Themes: Mindset mastery; owning your desires, heart-centred leadership, mind vs heart-based decision-making, trusting the unknown, self-trust, career expansion --Sign up for the mailing list to hear when leadership support circles launch and get early access discounts to upcoming eventsBook a free 1x1 coaching discovery call or reach out for retreats, workshop facilitation, or 1x1 and group leadership coaching for your companyFind me on LinkedIn and Instagram
