WRITE WITH IMPACT: TURNING YOUR WORDS INTO BUSINESS RESULTS 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show & Podcast - Episode 177

What happens when you know exactly what you want to say about your business... but the minute you sit down to write it, the words simply refuse to cooperate? For many business owners, creating content can become one of those jobs that is permanently sitting on the to-do list. The website needs updating. A LinkedIn post needs writing. There's a newsletter waiting to go out. The next blog is overdue. And then there's that blank screen staring back at you! This week on the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, Jackie Groundsell is joined by content writer, journalist and workshop leader Nandini Chatto for a conversation about why good content still matters – and how business owners can become more confident and strategic about the words they use. Because content isn't simply about filling a page. The right words can tell your story, communicate your expertise, build trust and help the right people discover your business. MEET OUR SUPER SPECIAL GUEST – NANDINI CHATTO Nandini Chatto is a content writer, journalist and workshop leader with more than 20 years' experience across a variety of sectors, including healthcare and the non-profit world. Today, she uses that wealth of experience to help business owners write with greater clarity, confidence and impact. Her mission is simple: to help people find the words that allow them to tell their stories, promote their work and ultimately reach more of the people they want to serve. For business owners who struggle with the writing side of running a business – or those who are already creating content but want to approach it more strategically – Nandini helps take the mystery and frustration out of the process. CONTENT ISN'T JUST A 'NICE TO HAVE' We are surrounded by content. Websites, blogs, newsletters, social media posts, articles, emails, profiles, brochures – the list goes on. That can make content feel like yet another thing a business owner is supposed to produce. But Nandini argues that effective business content is far more important than that. Done properly, content can help businesses achieve real results. It can establish credibility and authority, help potential customers understand what makes a business different, demonstrate expertise and keep a business visible long before somebody is ready to buy. In other words, content shouldn't simply exist because somebody told you that you “ought to post something this week.” There should be a purpose behind it. CAN TECHNOLOGY REALLY DO ALL OUR WRITING FOR US? With technology now capable of producing words in seconds, it's tempting to think that business writing is simply something that can be handed over completely to a piece of software. But where does the human voice fit into that? Nandini and Jackie explore why technology can certainly be useful, but why your experiences, opinions, knowledge, personality and stories are what make your content distinctly yours. For business owners, that's important. People don't simply connect with information. They connect with people. And when your content sounds like you, reflects what you stand for and speaks directly to the people you want to reach, it becomes far more powerful. THE DREADED BLANK SCREEN! You know what you do. You can explain your business perfectly well when somebody asks you about it. Then you open a new document... ...and suddenly you can't think of a single thing to write! Sound familiar? Nandini shares three powerful questions designed to help get those thoughts out of your head and onto the page. Rather than worrying about creating the perfect opening sentence, the perfect blog or the perfect social media post, these questions can help business owners focus first on what they actually want to communicate. And once the ideas start flowing, that blank screen becomes considerably less intimidating. WRITE WITH PURPOSE – NOT JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU SHOULD One of the important themes running through the conversation is strategy. Before writing anything, it's worth asking: Who am I writing for? What do I want them to understand? And what do I want this piece of content to achieve? A beautifully written piece of content that has no purpose may not move your business forward at all. A clear, relevant piece written for the right audience can. That's the difference between simply producing content and using content as part of your business strategy. HOW TO WRITE CONTENT WITH CONFIDENCE For anyone who wants to develop those skills further, Nandini is also promoting her workshop: How to Write Content with Confidence The workshop is designed to help business owners take their content to the next level and become more confident about what they write and why they're writing it. Whether you're struggling to get started, overthinking every sentence, unsure what your audience wants to hear or simply looking for a more strategic approach to your business content, Nandini's workshop provides practical support to help make writing feel more manageable – and more effective. Because you don't necessarily need more content. You need content that has something worthwhile to say. 1230 TWC NEWS Jackie also brings us the latest news from 1230 The Women's Company – connecting, supporting and championing businesswomen and creating opportunities for conversations that lead to genuine business relationships. Building Stronger Communities, One Conversation at a Time Faith, Family, Business and Community Spirit - Episode 176

Welcome to the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show A very warm welcome to another edition of the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, where every week we bring together inspirational guests, local businesses, community champions and remarkable people with stories worth sharing. Whether you're listening live on Love Da Beat Radio or catching up with our podcast, thank you for joining us. Every programme reminds us that behind every business, organisation and community project are passionate people making a real difference. Today's guests are wonderful examples of exactly that. ________________________________________ Birthdays, Celebrations & Hugs Before we begin... A very Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating this week! Especially Rebecca Robertson and Rosemary Cunningham. We hope your year ahead is filled with happiness, good health and exciting new opportunities. As always, we're sending our weekly hugs to everyone who may need one. Whether you're celebrating success, navigating challenges or simply taking life one day at a time... Remember... You're part of a wonderful community, and we're delighted you're here. ________________________________________ Today's Special Guests Jeff Hawthorne Supporting Businesses Through Workplace Chaplaincy Joining me today is Jeff Hawthorne, Workplace Chaplain with Kent Workplace Mission and Lay Minister at Christ Church & St Paul's, Anerley. After an impressive thirty-five-year career as a science teacher, Jeff developed international educational partnerships, creating opportunities for students and teachers to learn from different cultures around the world. Today his work takes a different, but equally valuable direction. As Workplace Chaplain, Jeff supports local businesses along Anerley Road and Elmers End Road, offering encouragement, a listening ear and helping strengthen community relationships. We'll be exploring what workplace chaplaincy actually involves, why emotional wellbeing in business matters more than ever, and how local churches continue to invest in and support their communities in practical ways. Jeff also shares three wonderful thoughts to leave us with: 📸 "Good photos are God's publicity." 😊 "A smile is the shortest distance between two people." ❤️ "The foundations of every successful venture are faith, hope and love." Simple words. Powerful messages. ________________________________________ Jools Owen Planning Ahead for a Warmer, Greener Future Also joining us today is Jools Owen from Logical Heating Plumbing Solutions Ltd. Jools and her family have been part of the Bromley community for over twenty years and have built a business based on integrity, honesty and traditional family values. While many people only think about their heating when winter arrives, Jools explains why summer is actually the ideal time to prepare. Boiler servicing. Heating system maintenance. Power flushing. Underfloor heating checks. Small repairs before they become expensive emergencies. Planning ahead saves both money and stress. We also discuss the growing importance of renewable energy and how solar thermal systems are becoming an increasingly practical option as our summers become longer and warmer. For businesses and homeowners alike, sustainability is no longer simply a future aspiration. It's becoming today's reality. Outside work, Jools is also an enthusiastic supporter of the local Sole to Soul community running group based in Betts Park, proving once again that successful businesses often thrive because they're actively involved in their local communities. ________________________________________ Jade Bonner Helping Children Thrive Our third guest today is Jade Bonner from Anerley Day Nursery, part of Grandir UK. Jade has devoted her career to supporting young children during some of the most important years of their development. Working in early years education requires patience, kindness, consistency and enormous enthusiasm. Every day presents new opportunities to encourage curiosity, build confidence and help children develop essential life skills through learning and play. During today's conversation we'll explore why creating a warm, welcoming and positive environment makes such a lasting difference—not only for children but also for their families. Jade also shares two excellent business tips that apply to every industry. Firstly... Always smile. The hundredth conversation you've had today may be the very first interaction that customer has experienced with your business. Your energy matters. Secondly... Never underestimate the value of giving someone your time. Taking just a few minutes to make somebody feel genuinely welcome can create relationships that last for years. After all... You never know where one conversation may lead. ________________________________________ Building Better Communities Together Although today's guests come from very different professions, they all share something important. They care deeply about people. Whether supporting businesses. Helping families. Looking after children's development. Improving wellbeing. Encouraging greener living. Or strengthening local communities. Each guest demonstrates that success is measured not only by what we achieve ourselves but by the positive difference we make for others. And perhaps that's one of the greatest business lessons of all. ________________________________________ 1230 TWC News There is so much happening over the coming weeks! 1230 TWC TV Join us on the second Wednesday of the month for our popular online 1230 TWC TV meeting. Breaking the Silence: Conversations That Empower Women The Menopause Gang Returns with Insight, Compassion and Practical Advice - Episode 175

Welcome to the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show A very warm welcome to another edition of the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, where every week we bring you inspiring conversations, practical business advice and remarkable guests who are making a real difference in our communities. Whether you're listening live or catching up through our podcast, thank you for joining us. This week's programme reminded us why open conversations matter. Although our guests hadn't had the opportunity to complete all their usual pre-show information beforehand, it certainly didn't stop us enjoying a fascinating, enlightening and genuinely enjoyable discussion. Sometimes the very best conversations are the ones that happen naturally. ________________________________________ Birthdays, Celebrations & Hugs Before we begin... A very Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating this week! May your year ahead be filled with good health, happiness and exciting new adventures. As always, we're sending hugs to everyone who may need one today. Whether you're celebrating success, facing challenges or simply taking life one day at a time, remember... You are never alone. ________________________________________ Women's Health Matters This week's programme focused on one of the most important conversations affecting women today... Menopause. While awareness has grown enormously over recent years, many women still experience confusion, isolation or unnecessary worry as they navigate this stage of life. That's exactly why conversations like today's are so important. Knowledge builds confidence. Shared experiences reduce fear. And honest conversations remind women that support is available. ________________________________________ Meet This Week's Wonderful Guests Fiona Catchpowle As always, Fiona brought warmth, empathy and practical guidance to the discussion. Her passion for supporting women through menopause and midlife continues to encourage women to ask questions, seek support and understand that every woman's journey is unique. ________________________________________ Congratulations, Dr Patsy Rogers! A very special congratulations to Dr Patsy Rogers, who has successfully completed her specialist Menopause Course. This is a wonderful professional achievement and demonstrates her ongoing commitment to providing the very best care and support for women experiencing menopause and related health concerns. Congratulations, Patsy, on this well-deserved achievement. ________________________________________ Siobhan Barry Drawing on her extensive NHS experience, Siobhan once again helped us understand the physical and emotional changes that menopause can bring. From hormonal changes and musculoskeletal health to sleep, concentration and emotional wellbeing, Siobhan explained complex topics in a clear, reassuring and relatable way. Knowledge really is empowering. ________________________________________ Wishing Michele Yianni-Attard a Speedy Recovery Sadly, our planned guest Michele Yianni-Attard was unable to join us due to ill health. Everyone at the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show sends Michele our warmest wishes for a full and speedy recovery. We look forward to welcoming her onto the programme in the near future when she is feeling much better. Take care, Michele—we'll see you soon. ________________________________________ Why These Conversations Matter One message came through loud and clear during today's programme. We must continue talking. For too many years menopause wasn't discussed openly enough. Thankfully, times are changing. The more we share experiences, expert knowledge and practical advice, the more women feel confident seeking support and understanding what is happening to their bodies. No woman should ever feel she has to go through menopause alone. ________________________________________ 1230 TWC News Don't forget our friendly and welcoming 1230 TWC meetings, where women come together to network, learn and support one another in business. A very happy birthday to everyone celebrating this week! We hope your year ahead is filled with happiness, good health and exciting new opportunities. As always, we're sending hugs to everyone who may need one today. Whether you're celebrating success, facing new challenges or simply taking life one step at a time, remember that someone is always cheering you on. ________________________________________ Today's Special Guest Rebecca Nwankwo – The Mindset Queen Joining me in the studio today is the inspirational Rebecca Nwankwo, also known as The Mindset Queen. Rebecca is a speaker, author, corporate workshop facilitator and business strategist who specialises in helping women over forty transform their knowledge, experience and expertise into successful, market-ready businesses. After spending twenty years in the corporate world, Rebecca achieved something extraordinary—earning a Global Executive MBA whilst working full-time and raising two children. Today she shares that wealth of experience through keynote speaking, coaching programmes and workshops that help women confidently reinvent themselves, build profitable businesses and lead with purpose. She is also the creator of the highly successful R3 Summit, inspiring thousands of women to Rise, Redefine and Reign. ________________________________________ Why Do So Many Women Stay Stuck? Many talented women have wonderful business ideas. So why do so many never take the next step? Rebecca explains how fear, perfectionism and self-doubt often keep people trapped in planning mode. Sometimes we're waiting for the perfect time. The perfect website. The perfect logo. The perfect business plan. But perfection can quietly become procrastination. Today's conversation explores the mindset shifts that help women move from endless planning to confident action. ________________________________________ Falling in Love with the Process—Not Just the Idea One of Rebecca's most powerful business lessons is refreshingly honest. "Never fall in love with a business idea because ideas alone don't build successful businesses—execution does." It's a message every entrepreneur needs to hear. A brilliant idea without action remains just that—an idea. Meanwhile, an average idea, tested, refined and improved through consistent effort, can become an outstanding business. Rebecca encourages aspiring business owners to listen to customers, learn from experience and continually adapt. Because successful businesses aren't built overnight. They're built one action at a time. ________________________________________ Building a Business People Want to Buy Rebecca also shares details of her exciting new 90-Day Coaching Cohort, launching on 1 September. Designed specifically for women over forty, the programme helps participants transform their professional experience into businesses that customers genuinely value and are willing to invest in. It's about far more than starting a business. It's about creating confidence, clarity and commercial success. ________________________________________ The Lies We Tell Ourselves Rebecca is also the author of The Lies We Tell Ourselves, a thought-provoking book exploring the mindset beliefs that quietly influence our decisions. During today's discussion we explore how the stories we tell ourselves can either hold us back or become the catalyst for positive change. When we challenge limiting beliefs, we create space for growth, confidence and new opportunities. Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't the market... It's our own thinking. ________________________________________ 1230 TWC News There is so much happening over the coming weeks! Rebecca Nwankwo Workshop We're delighted that Rebecca will also be delivering an exclusive 1230 TWC workshop on: Wednesday 19 August 🕛 Starts at 12 noon This 90-minute interactive workshop promises practical strategies, mindset shifts and actionable advice to help women move their businesses forward. Join us for another hour of business inspiration, expert speakers and valuable connections—all from the comfort of your home or office. ________________________________________ Women in Business Big Show Another date for your diary: Thursday 6 August 2026 The Women in Business Big Show, hosted by Sian Murphy, promises another fantastic opportunity to connect with ambitious women, discover new ideas and grow your business. ________________________________________ Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen+ And don't forget one of the highlights of our calendar: Wednesday 7 October 2026 Our next Evolution of Finance for Businesswomen+. It's a programme not to be missed. ________________________________________ Thank You A huge thank you to today's wonderful guest... The opportunity to meet women who genuinely want to see one another succeed. After spending more than twenty years in the corporate world, Christie chose a completely different path. Today she helps women understand something many of us don't even realise exists... The invisible stories we quietly tell ourselves. Those stories influence our confidence. Our relationships. Our businesses. Our decisions. And often... They shape our future without us even noticing. ________________________________________ Why Do We Overthink? One of today's fascinating conversations explores a question many women will instantly recognise. Why do so many capable women overthink everything? Christie explains how our minds often create stories based on past experiences, expectations and assumptions. Sometimes those stories serve us well. Sometimes they quietly hold us back. Together we explore how recognising those hidden beliefs can help us move forward with greater confidence, calm and clarity. ________________________________________ From Corporate Life to Following Your Heart Changing career after twenty years isn't a decision many people make lightly. Christie shares her own journey from corporate recruitment into creating work that feels deeply meaningful and aligned with her values. It's an honest conversation about courage, trusting your instincts and recognising when life is inviting you in a different direction. Sometimes the greatest success begins with giving yourself permission to change. ________________________________________ A Philosophy Worth Sharing One of Christie's most powerful thoughts during today's programme is beautifully simple. "We all live inside invisible stories. Those stories quietly shape the decisions we make every day." By becoming aware of those stories, we gain the freedom to ask ourselves an important question: "Is this story still true?" Sometimes that one question can change everything. ________________________________________ Conversation That Matters One of the reasons today's discussion feels so engaging is because Christie believes the best conversations happen through storytelling. Real stories. Real experiences. Real emotions. Because when someone shares their journey honestly, it often gives somebody else permission to begin their own. If today's conversation encourages just one listener to question an old belief that has been holding them back, then it has been a conversation well worth having. ________________________________________ 1230 TWC News As always, don't forget... 🌸 July is Bring a Friend Month! 🌸 Why not invite a colleague, client, friend or fellow businesswoman to experience a 1230 TWC meeting? If she's never attended before, simply let us know when she books and YOUR next in-person meeting is FREE—including your meal! Joining us next week will be: Rebecca Nwankwo Rebecca will also be delivering one of our exciting workshops this August. If you'd like to learn from Rebecca... There's only one way to do it... Be there! More details coming soon. ________________________________________ Thank You A huge thank you to today's wonderful guest... Christie Bodington Thank you for reminding us that sometimes the biggest changes begin with the smallest question. And thank you to all our wonderful listeners for your continued support. Without you, none of this would be possible. Keep sending your questions, your ideas and your stories. We love hearing from you. Until next week... Stay safe. Stay cool. Take care of yourselves. Conversations That Connect: Jackie Groundsell in Conversation with Carole Pyke - Episode 171

A very warm welcome to another edition of the 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, where every week we bring you inspiring conversations, business insights, community news and wonderful guests who are making a real difference. As always, we're delighted you've joined us, whether you're listening live or catching up on our podcast. Unfortunately, one of today's scheduled guests, Michelle Raymond, was unable to join us at the last minute. We look forward to welcoming Michelle onto the programme very soon. Our other planned guest experienced a technical hiccup and, although she thought she'd sent me all her information, sadly it never arrived. As they say in radio... The show must go on! And what a lovely opportunity it gave us to enjoy an extended conversation with today's special guest. ________________________________________ Today's Special Guest Carole Pyke Carole Pyke is well known for her warmth, professionalism and ability to bring people together through great communication. Today's programme was a relaxed conversation covering networking, confidence, communication and the importance of remaining curious throughout life and business. Sometimes the most enjoyable interviews are simply two people chatting about experiences, ideas and lessons learned along the way. ________________________________________ What Does It Feel Like To Be Seven Years Old? One of today's most thought-provoking questions was: "What does it feel like to be seven years old?" Children approach life with excitement. They ask questions. They make friends easily. They are curious. They aren't afraid to try something new. As adults, especially in business, we sometimes lose that curiosity. Today's discussion reminds us that some of our greatest opportunities begin simply by being interested in other people and remaining open to new experiences. ________________________________________ Networking Business Tips At 1230 TWC we've always believed that networking isn't about selling. It's about building relationships. Today's conversation explored some valuable reminders: Listen more than you speak. Ask thoughtful questions. Be genuinely interested in other people. Follow up after meeting someone. Offer help before expecting anything in return. Never underestimate the value of one conversation. After all... You never know who you'll meet, what you'll learn, or where one introduction might lead. ________________________________________ 1230 TWC News 🌸 July is Bring a Friend Month! 🌸 Throughout July we're inviting you to introduce a colleague, client, friend or fellow businesswoman to experience everything that 1230 The Women's Company has to offer. If your guest has never attended a 1230 TWC meeting before and books to join us... YOUR meeting is absolutely FREE – including your meal! It will be wonderful to hear from the next generation as they share their ambitions, experiences and fresh perspectives. Supporting future talent is something we should all encourage. ________________________________________ Thank You A huge thank you to today's special guest: Carole Pyke Thank you for your warmth, your insights and another enjoyable conversation.
