In May 2022, Chloe-Jane was elected as a Liberal Democrat ward councillor for Beckenham Town and Copers Cope. Her story demonstrates the importance of community involvement, local leadership and the difference individuals can make when they are prepared to turn ideas into action. An exciting NHS development Talk about timing! Seconds before we went live on air, Fiona received an email with some fantastic news — which she was able to share live on the show. 🥁 DRUM ROLL PLEASE... The NHS has agreed for one of its health coaches to be trained as a Menopause Doula through The Menopause School. For Fiona, this represents an important development following several years of building relationships with different areas of the NHS and demonstrating the value of bringing a menstrual-health-informed approach into existing healthcare and patient support. We talk about what this could mean, why education matters and the potential benefits of health professionals having a broader understanding of the menstrual health journey. A rather special email to receive just before going live! Women’s health, the Equality Act and a 100,000-signature campaign Fiona also brings us up to date with another important development in women’s health. A campaign calling on the UK Government to include gynaecological conditions and menopause within guidance relating to the Equality Act 2010 has reached the significant milestone of 100,000 petition signatures. The campaign specifically raises conditions including endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, PCOS and PMDD, together with menopause and menstrual disorders, and calls for recognition of their potentially fluctuating or recurring effects. Fiona discusses why this conversation matters, particularly when symptoms and conditions can affect women in the workplace as well as in everyday life. We also discuss new ISO guidance and Fiona's concerns about the way menopause has been defined within it — and why getting the language and understanding around menopause right is so important. Local News – the future of the Beckenham Odeon Closer to home, we discuss the news surrounding the Odeon in Beckenham, which is due to close in November 2026, following its purchase by Citygate Church. The proposed change has prompted considerable local discussion and opposition, with a petition circulating among residents who want to protect the cinema. Those wishing to find out more can look across local Facebook communities, including the Beckenham Appreciation Group, where information about the campaign and petition is being shared. Her creative career then took another direction when she gained Qualified Teacher Status and spent an incredible 25 years teaching art and textiles, sharing her knowledge, creativity and enthusiasm with generations of students. Then came another chapter. In October 2025, Zoe became a full-time freelance live fashion illustrator, combining her artistic talent, love of fashion and ability to capture people and moments as they happen. Live illustration brings something very special to an event. Rather than simply recording a moment with a photograph, Zoe creates an individual artistic interpretation of the people, clothes and atmosphere around her — live, as the event unfolds.
