What Madi Jenkins Does With Her 24

Madi is currently a middle school PE teacher, the Derby High School Powerlifting coach and is in the middle of coaching/training full time starting this summer. Madi attended Wichita State University where she cheered and graduated with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science and minor in Psychology. She's changed paths multiple times, where she has dabbled in athletic training, sports psychology and even teaching full time for the past 2 years. Madi was completing her last semester at WSU when covid hit. This was also the same time her and her husband found out they were expecting their first child. Madi contributes her change in career to God's plan for her. She found herself beginning a degree in education along with being blessed with the teaching position she is in now at Derby North Middle school. This is what opened the door to starting up the Derby High School Powerlifting team. Madi first started competing in powerlifting in 2018, when she was 19 years old. She spent her last few years in high school lifting with the offensive lineman which is where she was introduced to West Side Barbell, the OG of powerlifting. From there, her passion grew. Madi has battled body image, mental health and the pressure that has been put on females. Her goal is to be an advocate for younger athletes. "I have been around too many young athletes that are filled with self doubt and minimal confidence. One of my goals is to help guide them and show them that they are capable and they have a purpose". Madi also recently received the Trina Bauer Inspirational Award through the Derby Recreation Center thanks to her athletes for nominating her. It was when this award was presented, that Madi realized what her purpose was. It's to not only be an advocate for young athletes, but to help inspire ANYONE that they are capable of doing more than they think. Madi's main priority in life (beside her athletes) is her family. She knows she would not be where she is today without the love and support she has in her family, especially her husband and son.
