Chris is Managing Director and Chief Growth Officer (CGO) at TSG and has been with the firm since 2002. In Episode 34, Pat and Doug interview Shifat Hasan. Shifat is the Head of Investment Performance and Compliance at California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), and she has over 17 years of experience in the performance industry. She shares her origin story, tells us about her current role at CalSTRS, and reflects on the aspects of her career she finds most rewarding. In 2020, Shifat was recognized as a 40 Under 40 honoree in the Sacramento Business Journal, and in 2023, she received the Outstanding Women in Performance & Risk Measurement Award. She tells us what these recognitions mean to her and how they’ve influenced her journey. “The Outstanding Women in Performance Award gave me pause and took me back to the days when I first started my career. An Interview with Carol Penhale

In Episode 32, Pat and Doug sit down with Carol Penhale. Carol leads the development of the Canadian market for Rimes, partnering with C-level leaders at asset managers, asset owners, and asset servicers to help solve their most complex investment data management challenges. At the Toronto Performance and Data Analytics Summit  hosted by TSG and sponsored by Rimes and First Rate this summer, Carol participated in a panel that explored AI uses cases and benefits for performance teams, and she shares some key insights from that discussion. "I would say there are three things that I've seen forever in the performance space: data quality, data timeliness, and data granularity. Those are always top of mind for people across the industry, but especially in performance, and that has never been more sought after than people trying to enable AI so they get a comfort level in what they're using the technology for."  Carol also offers advice to those starting their careers in performance, shares what excites her most about the future of the industry, and discusses how the industry is evolving. In the lightning round, she tells us what her TED Talk topic would be and recommends a couple of books.
