Investing in Tequila Barrels

Tequila has evolved from a party drink into one of the world’s fastest-growing premium spirits categories. In this episode, Callum Woodcock explores the role celebrity-backed brands played in that transformation, what legally defines tequila, and how Blue Weber agave and barrel ageing create a potentially investable physical asset. The episode examines why lower agave prices may improve the economics of producing premium, single-origin tequila, how individual barrels are owned and matured in Mexico, and who buys the liquid once it reaches Añejo or Extra Añejo status. It also looks at historic returns from comparable aged-tequila transactions and the potential Capital Gains Tax treatment of tequila casks for UK investors. Visit www.winefi.co to find out more. Investing in Italian Wine in 2026

Italy has emerged as one of the most compelling regions in fine wine. In this episode, Callum Woodcock of WineFi examines the forces behind that rise; from improving critical recognition and expanding international demand to the persistent price gap between leading Italian wines and comparable bottles from Burgundy, Bordeaux and Napa Valley. We look at the contrasting investment characteristics of Tuscany and Piedmont, explore why Super Tuscans have developed into globally traded blue-chip wines, and consider the “Burgundification” of Barolo and Barbaresco. We also discuss why selecting the right producer, label, vintage and entry price matters more than simply gaining exposure to Italy as a whole. Its value can fall as well as rise, and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns.

Bordeaux Boom (and Bust) w/ Miles Davis of Vinum

For many years, Bordeaux was considered the only investment-grade wine region. It was in this environment Miles Davis entered the wine trade -- setting up one of the first (and only) FCA-authorised fine wine investment funds. This all changed following Xi Jinping's infamous "gift giving" ban in 2011, which saw Chinese demand evaporate almost overnight. Borrow Against Your Wine Collection w/ Lily Feng of Jera Wine

If you are a wine collector or investor, chances are you have a portfolio of wines worth thousands. Traditionally, the only strategy for "monetising" a collection was to buy, hold, and then sell it down when the time was right to sell to maximise returns. That is until Jera came along. Jera allows wine owners to borrow against the value of their wine portfolios, representing a huge step towards legitimising wine as a bona fide asset class. In this episode, Callum interviews Lily Feng. co-founder of Jera Wine. A tech entrepreneur and Harvard MBA, Lily has over a decade of experience leading cross-region teams to develop, launch and operate digital products from conception to implementation. Jera is part of Coterie Holdings, the world's leading holding company for fine wine business interests. Coterie Holdings are also the part-owners of WineFi.
