Why the sales page template keeps asking you to twist the knife
Grab her attention, remind her of her problem, twist the knife, then introduce your solution when she’s at her weakest. If you’ve ever filled in a sales page template that said something like that (and ignored the uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach while you did it), this one’s for you. In this episode, it’s just me. I’m talking about where those formulas come from, and what selling looks like when you don’t have to make anyone feel worse before you can help them feel better. I get into how PAS is the Hero’s Journey retold to someone deciding whether to buy your thing, and what changes when you build on the Heroine’s Journey instead. On that version, the reader who wants to talk it over with her partner first is gathering her people, the way she’s made every good decision she’s ever made. I talk about co-regulation, which I learned in 15 years of youth work (usually with a chair flying towards my head), and why a frazzled reader needs your calm more than another poke at her pain point. I also walk through the five phases of the Regenerative Story Framework, so you can work out where your reader is when she lands on your sales page, and which of the classic tools are perfectly fine to keep. A deadline on a real event is just information, after all.
