Address Corrections

Accessorial fees and surcharges are a considerable part of any shipper's yearly shipping costs. Many shippers see these as a part of doing business, but there are many fees that you, as a shipper, can stop. The FedEx address correction fee is our topic of discussion here. Address corrections are a major profit center for UPS and FedEx. When a shipper enters an incorrect address when creating a shipment, the carrier will attempt to correct it for a hefty fee. Within the U.S., FedEx will also assess this fee if the address is a P.O. box number or P.O. box ZIP code. In addition, if your package incurs an address correction fee, the on-time-or-it's-free guarantee is no longer effective. Read More. Dimensional (DIM) weight

Dimensional (DIM) weight pricing is the carriers' way of encouraging parcel shippers to optimize box sizes. This discourages wasted space inside the boxes, which destroys room in their trucks. The package's DIM weight replaces the billable weight if it's higher than the physical weight. For standard FedEx DIM weight calculation, the DIM weight divisor is 139 for ground and express domestic shipping and international shipments. FedEx Missing or Invalid Account Number Fee

Shipping errors don't just create operational headaches—they can also trigger unnecessary fees. One of the most overlooked accessorial charges from FedEx is the Missing or Invalid Account Number fee . While it may seem minor on a per-package basis, this fee can quietly add up across your shipping volume if it's not properly managed. A FedEx invalid account fee applies if the shipper does not provide a valid FedEx account or an accurate credit card number for the selected billing option. For FedEx Ground, this includes requests to bill accounts without a U.S. or Canadian billing address. Read More.
