What Businesses Need to Leverage Todays’ Transformative Technology

By now everyone has heard of the cloud. Most businesses even understand how they can use it effectively. But what about other advances? With 5G, LTE and other wireless networks rolling out plus more IoT advances being made nearly daily, businesses will need the power to pull it all together. Simply relying on the cloud won’t be enough for companies who truly want to leverage big data going forward, noted Dustin Seetoo, Premio’s Director of Product Marketing.“The edge computing is really about the ability to offer the necessary compute power resources and enough connectivity for real-time processing and decision-making for full autonomy. A great example of this that we work with a lot of partners on in terms of hardware scale and what they’re looking for is a lot of robotics,” Seetoo said. “Robotics in this day and age, how you look at edge computing requires sub-millisecond processing. So, a robotic arm on a factory line needs to be able to recognize in a millisecond that this object is whatever it is, then move it to a different object.”Robotics is hardly the only industry being transformed by the use of rugged edge computing. Digital transformations also are taking place in the autonomous vehicle space, especially in commercial fleets, and Premio even has a client utilizing the quick-response computing power in surface and underground mining equipment. That goes to show how widespread the implementation can be, and Premio works across a wide swath of product families to make sure companies are getting intelligence and understanding how to use it.“We’re starting to see this convergence of all this transformative technology,” Seetoo said. Learning how to make the rugged edge work for you can be key to making sure your business is on the cutting edge of the next technology revolution.

The Technologies Supporting 5G’s Expansion

Many supporting technologies have to come together to help with 5G's expansion. Data processing units, smart network interface cards and field-programmable gate arrays (known as DPUs, SmartNICs and FPGAs) are three technologies that intersect to create an innovative and flexible solution expanding the reach and use cases of 5G technology.

The Benefits Of NVME and NVME-oF For High-Performance Storage

Over the past five years, a new version of Non-Volatile Memory Express storage protocol has been working to bridge the gap between networks and NVME. This new version is called NVME-oF (Non-Volatile Memory Express - Over Fabrics) and is furthering this technology, which relies on low-latency data paths to create high-performance stored media.
