#28 Life Lately: Money, Mistakes, Moving Forward and The Comeback
After time away from the microphone, I’m back, and I’m starting with the truth. Over the past two years I sold the childcare centre I spent more than a decade building, invested in a startup, and watched that investment not go to plan. In this episode I share what that experience brought up: the uncomfortable questions (“Have I wasted my family’s money?” “Who am I to talk about money?”), and how the mindset work I’ve done helped me separate a financial outcome from my sense of self. We explore why losing money hurts so much more than gaining it feels good (hello, loss aversion), and why we attach so much of our identity to our financial decisions. I also share the big questions I want to unpack this season: financial autonomy in a changing world, making money decisions that reflect our values, and whether the way we teach money needs to change altogether. A financial decision can have an outcome you didn’t want...but it doesn’t have to define who you are.
