About the show

The Intentional Mind Podcast is for purpose-driven professionals who want to live, work, and communicate with greater intention. I’m the host, Angela Barnard, aka "Ang," a keynote speaker, communication coach and momma of two! I believe a meaningful life is not just about what you accomplish. It’s about how you feel, the energy you bring to your family and your work, and the difference you make. Each week, we have honest conversations about purpose, communication, energy, relationships, faith, work, motherhood, and what it looks like to live more intentionally in the middle of real life. We’ll talk about things like: Managing your energy instead of letting the energy around you run the show Making decisions with more clarity, courage, and faith Letting go of comparison, perfectionism, and the pressure to constantly do more Being more present for the people and life you care about Using your words and communication more intentionally Working with other people well, even when emotions, personalities, or pressure are involved Creating meaningful work that aligns with your strengths and calling We’ll keep it real, laugh a lot, share what’s working and what’s not, and hopefully leave you feeling more grounded, encouraged, and intentional about what you do next. If you want to live with more intention and show up better for the people you serve and love, you’re in the right place.

What If You’re Being Too Realistic?

280 - When is the last time you let yourself really dream about what could be without immediately shutting it down with what’s realistic, practical or possible right now? If you’ve been in a season of working, parenting, managing, providing and keeping everything moving, you may not even realize how little space you’ve been giving yourself to dream. In this episode of The Intentional Mind Podcast, I’m sharing a realization I’ve had lately: I’ve been so focused on getting through what’s in front of me that I haven’t been dreaming the way I used to. I reflect back on some of the things I once dreamed about that felt unrealistic at the time and am excited to share that many have now become an actual part of my life! Not because I knew exactly how they would happen. But because I allowed myself to imagine them before I had the plan. If you’re an ambitious working mom or purpose driven woman who has been carrying a lot, this episode is your reminder to make room for possibility again! You don’t always need to know the how. Sometimes you need to stop being so realistic long enough to ask yourself: What do I actually want? What would I love to be possible? Maybe it’s time to prioritize dreaming again. Want to connect? In this episode of The Intentional Mind Podcast, we’re talking about how to be more intentional with the energy you bring into hard moments so you can respond in a way you’re proud of, protect your peace, and experience more joy instead of letting one upsetting thing hijack your whole day. You’ll walk away with a simple way to think about your reactions, your communication, and the energy you’re adding to the spaces you’re in, especially when emotions are high. Because we don’t always get to choose what happens, but we can get better at choosing what we bring to what happens next. You Can Stop Rushing, You’re Not Gonna Miss What’s Meant for You

278 - If you’ve been feeling behind, unsure, or like you need to hurry up and make something happen, this one is for you. In this episode of The Intentional Mind Podcast, I’m sharing a reminder about trusting the path you’re on, letting go of the pressure to get everything right, and believing that what is meant for you is not going to pass you by just because you didn’t move fast enough. We talk about faith, timing, mom guilt, comparison, the words and energy we bring into our lives, and what it can look like to be more present instead of constantly trying to figure out what comes next. I also share a few personal stories that reminded me how supported we really are, even when life does not go according to plan. Don't Let One Message or Interaction Ruin the Rest of Your Day

277 - Have you ever received one email, text, comment, or piece of news that completely changed the energy of your day? One moment can quickly become much bigger than what actually happened. Before we know it, we are carrying that interaction into our work, our relationships, our decisions, and everything that comes next. In this episode, I’m sharing how to respond more intentionally when something throws you off, how to separate what happened from everything your mind starts making it mean, and how to keep one difficult moment from taking over the rest of your day. Because you cannot always control the message that lands in your inbox, the news someone delivers, or the energy someone brings to you, but you can decide what happens next. If you’ve ever let one interaction, email, comment, or unexpected moment steal more of your energy than you wanted it to, this episode is for you. The 2 Things People Who Design Fulfilling Careers and Lives Do Differently

276 -What do people who create meaningful, fulfilling careers and lives do differently? Recently, I asked an experienced career coach who values intentional life design this question and his answer came down to two things we talk about in this episode. In this episode, I’m sharing why these two skills can create more clarity, connection, and opportunity and why waiting until you feel completely certain can keep you stuck. If you’ve been thinking more intentionally about how you’re spending your time, where your career is headed or frustrated you're not making the progress you want in your work or life, I’d love to hear your story. I’m gathering insights as I shape my next program. This is not a sales call, just a chance for me to listen and learn. The Weekly Operating System That's Helping Me Live and Work More Intentionally

275 - Do you ever feel like you're constantly juggling work, home, family, and personal goals... yet still end the week wondering where your time went? In this episode, I'm sharing the simple operating system that's helped me feel more intentional, less overwhelmed, and more aligned with the life I'm trying to build. This isn't about squeezing more into your schedule. It's about creating a system that helps you make consistent progress on what matters most while giving you the margin to be present for your family, your work, and yourself. In this episode, I share: • The five core pieces of my personal operating system. • How creating a "second brain" helps me stop carrying everything around in my head. • Why I organize my calendar differently than most people. • How focus blocks help me make meaningful progress without feeling constantly busy. • The simple weekly review that helps me stay aligned with my goals and priorities. If you've been feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or like you're constantly reacting instead of living intentionally, I hope this episode gives you a practical framework you can begin using right away. And if listening to this makes you realize you're ready to create a clearer vision for your work and life, I'd love to talk with you. When the Life You Created No Longer Matches Who You're Becoming

274 - Have you ever looked around at the life you've worked so hard to build and realized... it doesn't quite fit anymore? That's the conversation we're having today. In this episode, I'm opening up about a season I've been walking through myself. From the outside, life looks good. I've worked hard, built a meaningful career, and have so much to be grateful for. But over the past several months, I've realized something important: Sometimes we don't need a completely different life, we need a life that's better aligned with the person we're becoming. If you've been feeling restless, disconnected from work that once excited you, or like your priorities have shifted, you're not alone. This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and give yourself permission to notice what may no longer be serving you. In this episode, I share: • Why it's completely normal for your definition of success to change over time • Some of the honest thoughts and feelings I've been navigating in this season of my own life • The first step toward creating a life and work that feel more aligned with who you're becoming If you've been thinking, "Something isn't quite right, but I can't put my finger on it," I hope this conversation reminds you that you're not behind, you're not failing, and you're certainly not alone. Sometimes growth simply asks us to become intentional again. I'd love your help. I'm currently designing a new program for women who feel like they've outgrown the life or work they've created and are ready to intentionally build what's next. As part of that process, I'm having a small number of Career Alignment Conversations to better understand what this season is really like. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear your story. 5 Unexpected Ways ChatGPT Can Help You Design a Career You Actually Love

273 - To be clear, we're talking about using ChatGPT to align your work with the lifestyle you want to have, not using it for resume stuff. I'm sharing five of my favorite ways to use ChatGPT to create more clarity, confidence, and alignment in your career, many of these I use with my own coaching clients who I'm helping transition into doing work they love that fits the season they're in. If you're trying to figure out what kind of work actually fits you, prepare for important meetings, make sense of what energizes you, or simply think more intentionally about your next chapter, these prompts are super helpful. I'd love your help. I'm currently doing research for my next career alignment program and am looking for people to interview to help me best design my next program. I'd love to interview anyone who may "look successful on paper," but feels like they have outgrown their current way of working and want to figure out what is next for them and how to start doing work that is more aligned with the lifestyle they want to have. If that's you, you can schedule a conversation below: https://tidycal.com/angbarnard/career-alignment-conversation Thank you so much for being part of this process. 7 Signs You've Outgrown Your Current Way of Working (The Before Picture)

272 - In this episode, I'm sharing seven signs that you've outgrown your current way of working. Maybe you've been feeling more drained than energized. Maybe work that used to feel meaningful doesn't anymore. Or maybe you've simply been sensing that the way you've been working no longer fits the life you're trying to build. This isn't about making a rash career move or quitting your job tomorrow. It's about paying attention to what your life, energy, and values might be trying to tell you. Before you can intentionally design work that fits who you are today, you first have to recognize what's no longer working. Think of this episode as the "before" picture. I'd love your help. I'm currently designing a new Career Alignment program, and I'm looking to have a handful of short Career Alignment Conversations with people who feel like they've outgrown their current way of working. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear your story. Your insights will help me create something that's genuinely useful for people navigating this season. Should I Want More? What's Really Right for Me?

271 - Should I Want More? Have you ever felt pressure to pursue something simply because everyone around you thinks you should? Maybe it's growing your business, taking on more clients, earning more money, climbing higher in your career, or saying yes to opportunities that look great on paper... But what if more isn't always the goal? In this episode, I share a recent reflection on the tension between outside expectations and personal vision. We'll talk about how easy it is to get pulled into someone else's definition of success and why it's important to regularly pause and ask: What do I actually want? We'll explore the difference between growth and alignment, how to discern whether an opportunity is truly yours to pursue, and why staying connected to your values, season of life, and God-given vision matters more than keeping up with everyone else. If you've ever found yourself wondering whether you should be doing more, building more, or wanting more, this episode is a reminder that success isn't about following someone else's path. It's about having the courage to follow your own. Connect with Ang: Instagram: @angbarnard Website: angbarnard.com Email: angmbarnard@gmail.com
