The Desert Island Investor podcast is a series of podcasts that document the experiences and strategies of private investor Mark Atkinson. Mark's long-term investments have enabled him to become financially independent and to retire at the comparatively early age of 53. The stocks that Mark reviews on this channel are from his real portfolio and not a 'virtual' portfolio, so these are genuine win-some, lose-some stories. A review of my new holding in Clarkson PLC (CKN)

Here on the island we often see Mark scuba diving off the beach in a fruitless search for sunken treasure. Ironically, it appears that he has now stumbled upon some floating treasure in the form of Clarkson PLC, the world's largest shipping services provider. Clarksons offer strategic maritime consultancy and shipping solutions in 24 countries and in 2011 Lloyd's List described them as the "undisputed heavyweight of the shipbroking market".
