ABCPL#13 - M for Moving On (ft. Donald F White)

Does your business have a succession plan or a cessation plan? Has your company been set up for your eventual exit so that your clients don't leave once you walk out the door? Are you building a business that can run without you? And are you building a life that can run without your business?Join me as I sit down with Donald F White--a retired top financial advisor--who recently completed a successful succession plan in his business. So successful, that the business has grown exponentially since his exit. This became the subject of his book: "Always End with the Beginning In Mind"--a must read for those who are looking to one day step out of the daily running of their businesses. In this podcast we'll look at topics such as: Who are you outside of what you do? What differentiates great companies from good companies? How do you build a business that people will cue up to buy? How do you increase the value of your business? What kind of people do you need to surround yourself with for a successful succession? And what are the most essential "dos" and "don'ts" of succession? If you have a business--whether you've been running it for 30 years or 3 months--this podcast is for you!

ABCPL#12 - L for Legacy (ft. Ron Kaufman)

In an ever changing world that is filled with uncertainty and challenges, how are we supposed to act? What does it mean to be a "good person" in an era of catastrophes, conflicts, and confusion? Is life really all about profits, status, achievements, clicks and likes, etc? How does all of that hold up when faced with a future that is unknown? Perhaps, in this time of existential crisis, we are asking the wrong foundational question. Perhaps the way forward is not found in asking "What is a human being," but rather, "what is being human?" This episode of the podcast, we caught up with Ron Kaufman. Named the world's leading expert in the areas of service and care for the past seven years in a row, Ron Kaufman has spent over 40 years making the world a better place through moving global leaders to create cultures based on the timeless values of care, service, and love.   Join us as we discuss what it means to be human in this modern world and what leaving a legacy looks like. We all want to be remembered in some way. At the end of the day, people want to know that their life matters in the overall scheme of things. Together, we will try to break down what contributes to legacy and to see what living for legacy looks like--at every stage of life. Trust me when I say that, with the amount of wisdom that Ron imparts, this is not an episode to miss! Watch the episode on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/DhRzWx0d1Js

ABCPL#11 - K for Kindness (ft. Barbara Vercruysse)

When you encounter someone who is known as a "global kindness advocate," what kind of person do you expect them to be?Probably not someone who has run their own business, holds a senior position at a global industry-leading company, and who is held in esteem as the #1 mental health thought leader in the world, right?  But that's exactly who Barbara Vercruysse is.  And it's all because of kindness.Kindness has got a bad rep in the corporate world. We tend to associate kindness with "weakness." However, kindness is not "niceness" or "passivity." Rather, it is an awareness of your personal power as an individual and then bringing of that power intentionally into whatever situation that you are in with grace and ease.  On this episode of the Podcast, join Barbara and I as we explore what kindness really is and see how we can practice kindness towards ourselves and then outwards towards others. We will discuss topics such as trust, fear, personal healing, maintaining boundaries, becoming comfortable with saying no, dealing with dysfunctional teams, and building positive organizational culture--all through practicing powerful and intentional kindness.  Trust me when I say that this is an episode that you don't want to miss! Watch on Youtube: https://youtu.be/VH24lPrcR0s Connect with Barbara Vercruysse on:  - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/barbara-vercruysse-431027113/- Website: https://www.barbaravercruysse.com/- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/startthelifeofyourdreams/- Book: https://a.co/d/4IcJELr

ABCPL#10 - J for the Journey (ft. Coach Jim Johnson)

Ready for a crazy stat? Around 90% of businesses fail within their first five years! But get this: the 10% that dodge the failure bullet aren't the big spenders or the ones with massive resources. Rather, they are the ones that have a plan for long term success. That's because they understand that success--whether in life or in business--is more of a marathon than a sprint. The real winners aren't the ones chasing quick wins; they're the ones in it for the long haul. They're the ones laying down a solid foundation, playing the strategic game, and staying tough when things get rocky. They're the ones who forget the idea of overnight success, because they know that slow and steady is the real deal in life and in business. In this episode of the podcast, join me as I speak to an expert on long-term success: Coach Jim Johnson. Together, we'll reflect on his long and celebrated career as a high school basketball coach--at the trophies he won, achievements he received, and the NBA players he set the foundations for--and see what his wins, losses, highs, lows, experiences, etc. have taught him about the journey of leadership and success. Watch the Episode on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/vQdnaIili14 Coach Jim Johnson Website: https://coachjimjohnson.com/Coach Jim Johnson YouTube: @CoachJimJohnson1A Coach and a Miracle Book: https://a.co/d/9OQo24JESPN J-Mac Documentary: https://youtu.be/O-nMab6XDNI

ABCPL BONUS Episode = Reflecting on 2022

So....here comes the long overdue podcast! When I sat down to record this, I had originally thought of taking some time to reflect on the year gone by and to share some news and and lessons from it, as well as thoughts and goals for 2023. This video ended up being all that, plus a whole lot more--including thoughts on balding, co-dependent coaching relationships, health fads, the pressures of unrealistic ideals, how to have difficult conversations with your loved ones, etc. Give it a listen and let me know your thoughts!

ABCPL#8 - H for Happiness (ft. Mel Leow)

Happiness...what does this word mean? What is it about the concept of happiness that makes us want to devote our whole life to finding it? And, if it is so important, why do so few people feel genuinely happy? Today on the podcast, I interview a good friend of mine--Mel Leow. Join us as we talk through his latest book--Engage--and find out how we can redefine and rediscover happiness for ourselves. ABCPL #06 - F for Facing Fears

Studies have shown that there are two types of regret: action regret and inaction regret. While action regrets are most prevalent in the short term, inaction regrets increase exponentially as the years go on. So much so, that the most common deathbed statement is this: "If I only had." How can we avoid this becoming our final words? How can we face our fears, take calculative risks, and turn challenges into our good? In this exclusive recording of a webinar for students of the Catalyst Apprentice Program in Nigeria, Kenya, and Zimbabwe (Done in April 2019), I discuss just that.

ABCPL #05 - E for Exposing Excuses

Life, at a fundamental level, involves suffering. That's a simple reality of life. However, suffering produces value when properly faced down and grown through. Yet a majority of people build up a life lie for themselves that blames their sufferings on others and makes them a victim of their circumstances. As comforting and as simplifying as that lie may be, accepting it sabotages one's success and brings their lives down into chaos and confusion. Hence, the importance of this episode our world today.
