Join Sasha Korovkina & Maksim Liashch as they share their journey co-founding the app "Eat It" (now rebranded to "Buy It" with hosts Scarlett, Hanna, and Bernice. Buy It is an online marketplace created in 2023 with a purpose of supporting local businesses and promoting sustainability. Their aim is to bridge the gap between consumer and manufacturer, giving small or local businesses an equal chance to thrive beyond the shadow of large corporations. Sasha and Maksim believe that originality does not have to be at a high price with a loud brand name and instead can be found readily across the community.

Our world is currently facing a food crisis –about 309 million people face chronic hunger, with 1.1 million on the brink of famine, especially in underdeveloped areas entangled in conflict or war such as Gaza, South Sudan, and Mali. What is the root of the global food crisis, you ask? Co-hosts Bernice and Scarlett are joined by Rebecca Vetharaniam Richards, the lead of the World Food Programme’s ‘Global Network Against Food Crises’, to discuss the intersection between conflict and hunger. Rebecca shares her previous experience from attending peace negotiations to working on the front lines of the hunger crisis in Afghanistan to her involvement in the WFP. In December, Rukaiya and Selina met the Imperial MIT Hackathon Team from 2022. The team of Zanna Buckland, George Su, Xavier Keogh and Tanish Goel got 1st in their category and top 10 overall! Throughout these three episodes, they talk about the competition, what sustainability is, how can we get more people into the industry. They also talked about their passions and how they figured out what they wanted to do in their careers. Stay tuned for more!
