edie Extra #SustyTalk: What can a fake brand teach the fashion industry?

The new episode of the edie Extra podcast is streaming now! Tune in as Ruth MacGilp, senior campaigner at global movement Action Speaks Louder, shares how the non-profit is putting pressure on one of the world's biggest activewear brands, lululemon, to decarbonise. Last year, lululemon made over $11bn in profits, with its greenhouse gas emissions also growing 14% in the same period. To get the attention of lululemon and encourage the company to move faster in cleaning up its supply chain, Action Speaks Louder launched 'mumumelon'. A dupe activewear brand, it aims to show lululemon that the same (or very similar) products can be made with a fraction of the carbon. In April, Action Speaks Louder opened its pop-up mumumelon shop in Marylebone, London. Just steps away from an actual Lululemon Athletica store, the pop-up shop displayed a limited run of mumumelon garments – all made in renewably powered facilities where workers were paid the living wage. Your host for this episode is edie's senior reporter, Sidhi Mittal.
