Episode 62: Living to Inspire Others With Leroy Brown

Leroy Brown was born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi. After graduating high school and completing one semester of community college, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps. Brown’s artistic birth began in elementary school, where he drew faces on loose-leaf notebook paper. Throughout his military career, he honed his artistic skills by independently putting himself in areas where there was art. His military service took him throughout the U.S. and different parts of the world. While in Quantico, Virginia he retired after honorably serving twenty years. In 2008, Brown met Hank Herring, who was an influence, guide, and mentor who encouraged him to pursue his dream and never put down the brush. Working in mainly acrylics, Brown’s evolution into the fine arts allowed him to inspire others to pursue their passion as he was simultaneously pursuing while serving his country. His use of folk art through vivid colors and movement portrays real-life memories at an instant glance. Brown’s inspiration comes from just that . . . inspiring people. “I want the world to have that same feeling.
