EP 218: When Do You Give Yourself Money?
Daily? Weekly? Monthly? When does the money your business makes actually become YOUR money? 💰 In Episode 218 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast , we’re having an important conversation every esthetician and beauty business owner needs to have: When do you pay yourself? You make $300 today—do you immediately transfer money to your personal account? You have a $2,000 week—do you decide what you can personally spend based on what came in? Or do you have an actual system for determining when and how much your business pays you? There’s a big difference between your business making money and YOU making money. 💰 Daily, Weekly or Monthly? There isn’t one payment schedule that works for every beauty business. What matters is creating a system instead of randomly taking money whenever it's available. In this episode, we're discussing what it looks like to pay yourself: DAILY: Are you constantly transferring money out of your business based on what you made that day? WEEKLY: Would a scheduled weekly payment give you more consistency while allowing your business to maintain the cash it needs? MONTHLY: Would paying yourself a set amount each month help you separate your personal finances from the financial needs of your business? The bigger question isn't simply WHEN do you pay yourself? It's: Does your business have enough money left after you pay yourself to continue operating? 🚨 Every Dollar That Comes In Isn't Yours to Spend Your business has responsibilities. Products. Supplies. Rent. Payroll. Taxes. Marketing. Software. Insurance. Education. Inventory. Unexpected expenses. If you treat every deposit as personal income, you can have a business generating thousands of dollars in revenue while constantly wondering: “Where did all the money go?” Revenue is not the same thing as profit—and your bank balance isn't automatically your paycheck. 💵 Create a Pay-Yourself System Instead of deciding how much money you can take based on what's sitting in your account today, start asking: How much can my business consistently afford to pay me? Then create a schedule. Whether that's weekly, twice a month, or monthly, paying yourself intentionally can help you understand what your business is REALLY producing. Your goal isn't just to own a business that makes money. Your business should eventually be able to PAY YOU. 🎧 Listen to EP 218: When Do You Give Yourself Money? and think about how you're currently paying yourself from your esthetics business. 🎓 Want More Conversations About MONEY? EP 217: 3 Things to Do Before Paying for Tik Tok Ads
Thinking about paying for TikTok ads to promote your esthetics business? Before you put $25, $50, $100—or more—behind a video, there are a few things you need to know. In Episode 217 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast , Stephanie shares 3 things every esthetician and beauty business owner should do BEFORE paying for TikTok ads. Because paying TikTok to show more people a bad video doesn't magically turn it into a good one. Before you advertise, your content needs a purpose, a clear audience, and proof that people actually want to watch it. 📱 3 Things to Do BEFORE Paying for TikTok Ads 1️⃣ Make Sure Your Video Is Ad-Worthy Before spending money, ask yourself: What do I want someone to DO after watching this video? Book an appointment? Buy a product? Visit your website? Follow your page? Your video needs a clear purpose and a clear next step. If viewers don't know what to do when the video ends, paying for more views probably isn't going to solve the problem. 2️⃣ Tell People WHERE You Are If you're an esthetician trying to book local clients, your content needs to make your location clear. Don't make potential clients search for it. Include your city and state in your video, caption, profile, or call-to-action so the right people immediately understand that your business is available to them. 3️⃣ Let Your Analytics Tell You the Truth Your analytics don't care how much you love the video. If people aren't stopping, watching, engaging, clicking, or taking action organically, think carefully before turning that content into an ad. Don't automatically pay to push content people have already shown you they don't want to watch. Your organic content can help you identify the videos that deserve additional advertising dollars. 💰 You Don't Need a Huge TikTok Ad Budget to Start One of the biggest misconceptions about advertising is that you need thousands of dollars or an expensive agency before you can learn what works. You don't. You can start small. You can test. You can make mistakes. You can study your analytics. And you can use what you learn to make your next campaign better. The goal isn't simply to say: “I'm running TikTok ads.” The goal is for those ads to produce an action that matters to your business. 🚨 Remember: Views Aren't the Goal 10,000 views with no bookings isn't necessarily better than 1,000 views that produce five new clients. 100,000 views with no sales doesn't automatically make a successful campaign. Before you advertise, determine what success actually looks like: 📅 Appointments 🛍️ Product sales 🔗 Website visits 📲 Leads 💰 Revenue Then create your content—and your ads—around THAT objective. 🎧 Listen to EP 217: 3 Things to Do Before You Pay for TikTok Ads before spending another dollar promoting your content. 🎓 Want More Esthetician Business & Marketing Education? EP 216: How Much $$$ Can You Accept?
You say you want to make more money—but how much money are you mentally and emotionally prepared to receive, manage, and keep? 💰 In Episode 216 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast , Stephanie dives into a side of making money that isn't talked about enough: your ability to accept financial success before your current circumstances reflect it. Maybe you've struggled with money. Maybe you've experienced debt, inconsistent income, slow months, or financial decisions you wish you could change. Those experiences can influence how you think about money today—but they don't have to determine how much you're capable of earning tomorrow. As your beauty business grows, your capacity for money has to grow with it. Can you imagine consistently making $5,000 a month? $10,000? $20,000? $50,000? And when you picture those numbers, what comes up? Excitement? Fear? Doubt? Guilt? Disbelief? This episode is about recognizing the mental and emotional barriers that can show up when you start thinking BIGGER about what's financially possible for you and your business. 💰 In This Episode, We're Talking About: ✨ What it means to mentally accept making more money ✨ Why wanting more money and being comfortable receiving it aren't always the same thing ✨ How past money struggles can influence your expectations for the future ✨ Why you may unconsciously put a ceiling on your earning potential ✨ Becoming comfortable seeing bigger numbers in your business ✨ Learning to receive money without immediately feeling the need to spend it ✨ Why making more money also requires learning how to manage more money ✨ Separating your past financial experiences from your future financial potential 💡 What's Your Money Ceiling? Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't whether the money is available. It's whether you believe that amount of money is available to YOU. If you've spent years surviving financially, stability can feel unfamiliar. If you've never earned $10,000 in a month, $10,000 may sound impossible. And once you reach one financial level, you may discover an entirely new set of emotions around reaching the next one. That's why growing your income isn't only about getting more clients, raising your prices, or selling more products. There's also an internal question: Can I accept this level of success? And then: Can I responsibly manage it once it arrives? 💵 Your Money Issues Don't Disqualify You From Making More Money You don't have to have a perfect financial history before you decide to change your relationship with money. You can acknowledge the mistakes. You can learn from the difficult seasons. You can improve your financial habits. And you can still allow yourself to want MORE. Your current bank account doesn't get to decide the size of your vision. Your past doesn't get to set the financial ceiling for your future. The question is… How much money are YOU willing to accept? 🎧 Press play on Episode 216 and let's talk about it. 🎓 Join the SLI Online Esthetician School Ready to become a stronger esthetician AND business owner? 🎙️ EP 215: Get Your Clients to Rebook & Rebuy in Your Community Getting a new client is great—but getting that client to come back, rebook, and continue buying from you is how you build a sustainable beauty business. In Episode 215 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast , Stephanie talks about the power of creating a community around your esthetics business and using that community to increase client retention, rebooking, and retail sales . Your clients shouldn't only hear from you when it's time to book another appointment. Staying connected, educating them, and continuing the conversation between services can give them a reason to keep coming back—and keep buying from YOU. In This Episode, You'll Learn: ✨ Why getting the client is only the beginning ✨ How to turn first-time clients into repeat clients ✨ Why every esthetician should focus on rebooking and rebuying ✨ How building a community keeps you connected to your clients between appointments ✨ Ways to educate your clients without constantly "selling" to them ✨ How community can help increase client loyalty and retention ✨ Why your existing clients can be one of the biggest opportunities for more revenue in your business 💡 Stop Starting From Zero Every Month If you're constantly searching for NEW clients but aren't nurturing the clients you've already worked so hard to get, you're making business harder than it needs to be. Episode 214: Your Followers Are Not Your Clients Do you have thousands of followers but still struggle to book appointments or make consistent sales? In this episode, Stephanie Laynes explains why followers don't automatically become paying clients —and why focusing on the wrong metrics could be holding your beauty business back. If you've been chasing likes, views, and followers, it's time to shift your focus to what really matters: building trust, creating community, and converting your audience into loyal, repeat customers. Stephanie shares practical strategies every esthetician, salon owner, spa professional, and beauty entrepreneur can use to attract buyers instead of just browsers. EP 212: Your the Content Creator for Your Business
Did you know that one of the most valuable roles in your beauty business isn't just being an esthetician—it's being your own content creator ? In Episode 212 of the SLI Online Esthetician School Podcast , Stephanie Laynes explains why every esthetician, spa owner, skincare professional, and beauty entrepreneur must embrace content creation to grow their business, build trust, and attract new clients. If you're waiting for someone else to market your business, you're missing one of the biggest opportunities to increase your visibility, generate leads, and create consistent income. The good news? You don't need thousands of followers—you need consistent, valuable content that speaks directly to your ideal client. In This Episode You'll Learn Why every esthetician is a content creator. How social media helps you build trust before a client ever books. Why consistency beats perfection on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest. How educational content positions you as the skincare expert. The difference between creating content that gets views and content that gets clients. Why authenticity is your greatest marketing advantage. How to turn everyday client questions into endless social media content. Why Content Marketing Matters for Estheticians Today's skincare clients don't just search Google—they also search TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, and AI-powered search tools for skincare advice, product recommendations, and estheticians they can trust. Every video, photo, blog post, email, podcast, and social media post you create becomes a digital salesperson working for your business 24 hours a day. When you consistently create valuable content, you can: Attract more facial clients. Increase retail skincare sales. Build authority in your local market. Grow your email list. Generate online skincare consultations. Increase bookings without relying only on paid advertising. Build a recognizable personal brand. Create long-term relationships with potential clients. Your Business Needs Two Audiences Every piece of content should speak to one of two groups: 1. Your Current Clients Create content that helps existing clients: Stay consistent with their skincare routine. Learn how to use products correctly. Understand treatment benefits. Feel connected to your brand. Refer family members and friends. Become repeat clients. A private Facebook Community or VIP client group is a powerful way to educate, engage, and encourage referrals while strengthening client loyalty. 2. Your Future Clients Your second audience is people who have never met you. They are searching for answers to questions like: Why is my skin breaking out? What causes eczema? How do I get rid of dry skin? What's the best facial for sensitive skin? Why is my scalp itchy? What skincare products actually work? When you consistently answer these questions through short-form videos, blog posts, podcasts, YouTube videos, and social media content, you become the trusted expert they remember when they're ready to book. Content Ideas Every Esthetician Should Create Never run out of content by creating: Skincare tips Client FAQs Before-and-after transformations (with permission) Product demonstrations Treatment education Ingredient spotlights Myth vs. Fact videos Day-in-the-life content Client testimonials Behind-the-scenes videos Business owner insights Success stories Seasonal skincare advice Live Q&A sessions Educational podcast episodes The Power of Consistency Many estheticians stop posting because they believe every video has to go viral. The truth is that consistent, educational content builds credibility over time. Every post creates another opportunity for someone to discover your business, learn from your expertise, and become a loyal client. Don't focus on creating perfect content. Focus on creating helpful content consistently. Key Takeaway Your social media accounts are more than platforms—they're powerful marketing tools that can attract clients, increase product sales, grow your authority, and build a thriving beauty business. You are no longer just providing skincare services. You are the content creator of your business. The more value you share, the more trust you build. The more trust you build, the more opportunities you create to grow your business. EP 211: Do You Need a Supportive Partner and/or Family?
In Episode 211 of the SLI Online Esthetician School Podcast , Stephanie Laynes shares her perspective on one of the most common questions asked by beauty professionals: Do you need a supportive partner or a supportive family to become a successful esthetician and entrepreneur? Stephanie's answer may surprise you. While having encouragement from family is wonderful, she explains why having a supportive partner can make a greater difference when you're building a business and creating a life together. In This Episode You'll Learn Why emotional support matters when building an esthetics business. How a supportive partner can positively impact your entrepreneurial journey. Why family members may not always understand your vision. How to handle criticism from friends and family while staying focused on your goals. The importance of surrounding yourself with people who believe in your success. Healthy ways to communicate with your spouse or partner about the demands of running a beauty business. How to protect your mindset during the early stages of entrepreneurship. Why Support Matters for Estheticians Many licensed estheticians dream of opening their own spa, growing a skincare brand, becoming a solo esthetician, or creating financial freedom through entrepreneurship. However, building a successful beauty business often requires sacrifices that others may not immediately understand. You may experience: Working evenings and weekends. Reinvesting profits back into your business. Spending hours creating social media content. Investing in continuing education. Delaying vacations or major purchases. Managing uncertainty while your business grows. Having someone at home who understands these challenges can provide stability, encouragement, and confidence during difficult seasons. Family Support vs. Partner Support Every family dynamic is different, and many entrepreneurs receive incredible encouragement from parents, siblings, and relatives. In this episode, Stephanie discusses why a supportive life partner often has a greater day-to-day influence because they typically share your household, finances, responsibilities, and long-term goals. When you and your partner communicate well and work as a team, it can make navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship much easier. At the same time, if family members don't fully understand your vision, it doesn't necessarily mean you can't succeed. Many successful entrepreneurs have built thriving businesses while earning support gradually through consistent action and results. Key Takeaway You don't need everyone's approval to build a successful esthetics business. You do need people in your life who respect your goals, encourage your growth, and support the work required to achieve your vision. A supportive partner can be an important part of that foundation, while a strong network of mentors, business friends, and fellow estheticians can provide additional encouragement along the way.
