So. Brittany. Hi. How are you? I'm great. How are you? I'm good. I'm good. I, uh, I really want this to be an opportunity for business owners to kind of share what inspires them, what, worries them, um, how they, how they work in their business, uh, really the whole spectrum. But to do that, I think we need to know more about you and kind of lead us into, um, your life up until the point of your doors opening. Ooh, that's such a good, good first start. Um, if you haven't heard my story, it's kind of crazy. My mom actually used to own a business on the square, actually where Blushing Bows is.Okay. And she always wanted me to do a boutique with her. She did like wedding dresses and dry cleaning and stuff. And we always talked about starting a business together. Um, my mom got really ill. She had cancer. And kind of, I always just brushed it off, like, In the real world, I'm working, I have kids, like, I don't have time.I always made excuses. So, um, about five years ago, my mom ended up passing away from cancer. And about a week before my mom passed away, we had a pretty intense conversation of just life in general. And at that point, I didn't know my mom was sick. Like, as sick as what she was. And, uh, we had a pretty serious conversation about what I wanted out of life. And I feel like the older that you get, you start really like looking at your life and questioning and thinking about the things that you want. And that kind of was a big eye opener for me. I've always worked for everyone else, but I've always done like side hustles on the side. Um, I did a lot of like direct sales and stuff like that.Um, so when I was talking to my mom, I was like, I just don't, it's not a good time. It's not a good time. And then when my mom passed away, it just made me really start to think life is short. I've said it for, you know, 20 plus years. Like I don't have time. It's not the right time. It's not, you know, it's not something that I was ready to do.So after mom passed away, I felt like after I went through a pretty rough patch, my mom is my, She was my best friend. We were very close and, um, she was my inspiration. She was such a hard worker growing up. She worked nights. So it was kind of like she did a lot for us. And as a kid, I think you don't appreciate those kinds of things. So being a mom now, I appreciate them a lot more. So when I kind of got my bearings together, I'm like, you know, that conversation happened for a reason and it made me really start to think like t

Anyone know who Mr. Beast is? Yeah. It's not, that's not that. This is how you can have tangible impact immediately. with the lowest barrier to entry. And if there's anything you leave with today, it should be the fact that you can get started.Because getting started is literally the hardest part. You don't have to worry about editing, looking good, creativity, all these things. You just have to get started. And I'll kind of give you some information, some numbers to prove that, both some personal experiences, and then also some stats from the internet. But before we get started, let's talk about my very complex, crazy life. Born and raised outside of Chicago. My son Xavier is about two years old. My wife Shelby's from the Putnam County area we've been married since 2019 and Yeah, my family's really important to me Uh, my mom moved down here during COVID and, uh, she's loved it here.Uh, even with COVID lockdown, she's been able to build community. And she works at, uh, RIDPATH as a noon aid. So she gets to know all the little ones. Uh, and Shelby's family, um, Emily and Shane, they've been around for a long time. Emily was at RIDPATH for a while and Shane's with the USDA. So Distinct is what pays my bills.Although sometimes it feels like it's the thing I'm giving the least attention to. But we build and maintain high quality, affordable websites. For small businesses and nonprofits this year. We're kind of pivoting into just general support for small businesses and nonprofits are our unlimited website support. It's been a big hit for all of our clients. They love that they can send us an email and we do it for them. So now we're expanding that to other things like bookkeeping or organizing your files or administrative assistance. So kind of taking that same model and expanding it really excited. We're working with.Three clients in this new realm, one of which is helping them take videos that they refuse to post without editing and editing the videos for them because they feel they need that. So really, if you're, if you're going through something with your business right now and you're like, man, I wish I could pay someone else to do this.We can probably do it way more affordably than you think. And we can save you a lot of time and money. I'm also serving on city council, uh, which plays a direct role in my experience with video. Uh, one of my theories when running was I think local politics is slightly m
