Is that all you want from me?

I found what seemed like the perfect location for an intimate coffee meetup. Then a simple conversation about reserving a table turned into one of the strangest business interactions I've had in a while. There was a fee, an invoice that never came and very little interest in the details of the event. When I suggested several ways we could make the gathering mutually beneficial, the owner made her preference clear: She would rather have the $100. We undercharge because we're afraid the client will say no. We hesitate to send the invoice because we're worried they can't afford it.
