445 - How To Sell Without Needing The Sale
Your job in selling isn’t to convince everyone to buy from you. It’s to help people make the right decision for them. Early in my corporate sales career, I was a top producer and still stuck at low six figures. I put so much pressure on myself that if I hadn’t closed something, I felt like I’d failed. Then I started studying the people in my industry selling the same thing and making 10 times more. What separated them wasn’t a better script. It was how they carried themselves. In this episode, I’m sharing what I learned from them and what we teach in our community as scarcity selling vs. abundance selling. We talk about why people can feel it when you need the sale, how to show up to a call as if you already had a full waitlist, and why non-attachment is a skill you practice before the results show up, not after. Non-attachment doesn’t mean being passive. I walk through how to ask clearly for the business, go deep with someone in their fear and objections, and still not be attached to whether they say yes. I also share how to tell a no from a not right now, why follow-up done in an energy of service changes everything, and a mindset from my friend Ian Koniak that reframes follow-up as simply moving things forward. You don’t have to sell in a way that feels gross to you. And when you remember who your real source is, you’ll find yourself selling a lot more.
