What If You Are Being Deceived and do not Know it

How do we recognize false doctrine before it takes root in our lives? In 2 Timothy 3:8-17, Paul warns Timothy about people who oppose the truth and resist sound teaching. But Paul doesn’t leave Timothy wondering where he should turn. He points him directly to the Scriptures—the Word of God that is profitable for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness. Then Galatians 1:8 gives us an incredibly serious warning: even if someone claims to bring a message from heaven, if that message contradicts the gospel already given, it must be rejected. In today’s Daily Dose, we continue exposing false doctrines by asking a difficult question: Are we grounded enough in God’s Word to recognize deception when it comes? Because you can’t recognize a counterfeit by studying counterfeits alone. You need to know the genuine article.

Just Because You Can Should You

Christian freedom is a wonderful thing—but freedom without wisdom can become a trap. In 1 Corinthians 6:12, Paul makes a powerful statement: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient.” He goes on to say, “I will not be brought under the power of any.” That challenges the way we think about our choices. Just because something isn’t specifically forbidden doesn’t automatically mean it’s beneficial. And just because we have the freedom to do something doesn’t mean that thing should have a place of control in our lives. Following up on our previous discussion, today we’re going to look at the difference between permission and wisdom, freedom and bondage, and having something versus being controlled by something. The question isn’t merely, “Is it allowed?” The question is, “Is it helping me become more like Christ?”

When We Rewrite God What Happens to the Truth

The Road You are on Is Not Always The Right One

Jeremiah 6:16–20 presents a powerful invitation and a sobering warning. God tells His people to stand at the crossroads, look around, ask for the ancient paths, and walk in the good way. Yet their response is heartbreaking: “We will not walk therein.” The passage challenges us to examine the direction of our own lives. We can ask God for guidance while already knowing what He has called us to do. We can pray for His will while resisting His instruction. We can admire the right path without actually walking on it. God’s question to Jeremiah’s generation is still worth asking today: Which way are you going? This episode challenges us to stop at the crossroads, listen for God’s direction, and choose obedience over convenience.

Are You Letting Opposition Stop What God has Started In You

Nehemiah and the people of Jerusalem were rebuilding the walls, but their work quickly attracted opposition. Their enemies mocked them, threatened them, and attempted to create fear among the people. Yet Nehemiah responded by praying, setting a watch, and reminding the people to remember the Lord. In this episode, we look at Nehemiah 4:1-9 and verses 14-15 and consider what happens when opposition comes while we are doing what God has called us to do. The enemy may try to intimidate us, discourage us, or make us afraid—but opposition doesn’t mean God has abandoned the work. Sometimes we need to stop looking at the size of the opposition and start remembering the greatness of our God.

They Wanted The Thief Instead of Jesus

Jesus commanded His followers to go into all the world and teach the truth. But throughout Scripture, we see that not everyone wants to hear that truth. Jesus was rejected in His own hometown of Nazareth. Pilate stood face-to-face with Jesus and asked, “What is truth?” And when given the opportunity to release Jesus, the crowd demanded that Barabbas—a thief and criminal—be released instead. Paul warned Timothy that a time would come when people would not endure sound doctrine. Instead, they would look for teachers who would tell them what they wanted to hear. In this episode, we explore why people reject truth, why they sometimes prefer what is wrong over what is right, and why our responsibility isn’t to change the truth to make people comfortable. We are called to proclaim the truth—even when people don’t want to hear it.

Peter Got Out Paul Stayed Why

Peter was in prison, facing what appeared to be certain death. The church prayed, God sent an angel, Peter’s chains fell off, the doors opened, and Peter walked out. But then we come to Paul and Silas. They were beaten, thrown into prison, and locked in stocks. Then, in the middle of the night, they prayed and sang praises. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake. The prison doors opened and everyone’s chains fell off. So why didn’t Paul and Silas escape? Because sometimes God opens a door so you can walk through it—and sometimes He opens a door so you can see what He wants to do while you stay where you are. The answer is found in what happened next. Paul and Silas stayed, and the Philippian jailer and his household heard the Gospel. Then Jesus gives us another important lesson in John 21: Peter became concerned about what would happen to John. Jesus essentially told him, “What is that to thee? follow thou me.” The lesson is simple but powerful: God doesn’t give every believer the same assignment, the same journey, or the same outcome. Our responsibility is not to compare our calling with someone else’s. Our responsibility is to follow Jesus.

When Yesterdays Faith Is Not Enough

Psalm 30:6 says, “And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.” David discovered something that many of us eventually discover: sometimes our greatest confidence can come immediately before our greatest testing. In this episode, we look at several people in Scripture who experienced tremendous moments of faith and courage, only to find themselves struggling when the trial came. Peter boldly declared that he would never deny Jesus. But when the pressure came, Peter denied Him three times. Elijah stood courageously on Mount Carmel, confronted hundreds of false prophets, and watched God answer his prayer with fire from heaven. Yet shortly afterward, when Jezebel threatened his life, Elijah ran into the wilderness and asked God to take his life. But then we look at Job. Job lost his possessions, his children, and his health. His circumstances could hardly have been worse. Yet despite his tremendous suffering, Job continued to recognize God’s sovereignty. The lesson isn’t that God’s people will never become discouraged, afraid, or overwhelmed. The lesson is that our confidence must never rest in our circumstances, our past victories, or even our own strength. Our confidence must rest in God.

You Have a New Identity

In 1 Peter 2:9–10, Peter gives us a powerful reminder of who we are because of what God has done for us. He says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people.” Those aren’t just encouraging words. They describe our identity as God’s people. We are chosen. We belong to God. We are called to be different. And we have a purpose: “that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” God didn’t bring us out of darkness simply so we could stand around and admire the light. He brought us into the light so that our lives could point others toward Him. Today, let’s take a closer look at what it means to be chosen by God, to belong to Him, and to live like people who have been called out of darkness.
