S2E72 How to Get More Clients Booking With Your Salon Team

You can hire amazing people, train the crap out of them, give them a beautiful space to work in and still sit there wondering why clients keep booking the same one or two people. Sometimes the problem is really simple: Your clients barely know the rest of your team exists. In this episode, we are talking about why salon and spa owners cannot expect clients to confidently book with providers they have never really been introduced to. A name, headshot and two-sentence bio buried on your website is probably not enough. If you want clients booking across the team, they need to become familiar with those people BEFORE they are sitting there trying to choose an appointment. We’re getting into how to make your providers more visible, what weak team bios are missing, how to actually show clients who each person is great for, and why consistently featuring your team can make it easier for new and existing clients to choose someone besides the person they already know. We also break down how to create a simple rotation so the same two employees are not getting featured over and over while everybody else basically disappears. Because if you want clients to book your team, the team has to become familiar before the booking decision ever happens. If you have talented providers who need more clients, this episode is absolutely for you. S2E71 Before You Let Your Spouse Help Run Your Salon, Listen to This

Bringing your spouse into your salon or spa can sound like the best freaking idea ever. You trust them. They know you better than anybody. Maybe they’re great with money, systems, organization, or business in general, and they genuinely want to help. But knowing YOU really well does not automatically mean they understand your business. In this episode, Chandra and I are talking about what can happen when a spouse steps into a salon or spa without really understanding the economics and weird little details that make our industry work. We’re getting into commission structures that look completely insane to someone from the outside, schedules that are a whole lot more complicated than a few empty spaces on a calendar, what happens when your spouse suddenly starts managing the team, and how quickly “they’re just helping me with a few things” can turn into nobody knowing who is actually in charge of what. And then there’s the part nobody really thinks about until they’re living it: you still have to go home together. We’re talking about roles, decision-making authority, team trust, business boundaries at home, and the things you need to figure out BEFORE you hand over all the passwords and accidentally turn every dinner into a staff meeting. If your spouse already works in your business, you’re thinking about bringing them in, or you know another salon or spa owner doing this right now, this is one you’re gonna want to hear. S2E70 I Stopped Running My Salon the Same Way in Q4 and it Changed EVERYTHING

If Q4 is already one of the busiest times of the year in your salon or spa, why in the heck do we keep preparing for it by adding MORE? More hours. More clients. More promotions. More retail. More stuff for the team to remember. More freaking everything. In this episode, I’m breaking down what I changed in my own salon last Q4 that helped us make great money without making December feel like it completely kicked our ass. We’re talking about temporarily changing how you use your service menu, simplifying add-ons and retail, cutting promotions and discounts during your busiest weeks, creating a Q4 “kill list,” deciding your squeeze-in boundaries before clients start asking, and even letting your team choose a few services they would rather not perform during those crazy weeks. None of this is about doing less just for the sake of doing less. It’s about being way more strategic with the demand you already know is coming. And because I know you’re probably going to listen and think, “Okay, but how do I actually do this in MY business?” we also created a free Q4 Profit Checklist that walks you through the whole thing. Your salon or spa brings in money, but somehow you still feel broke and have no idea where it all went. Brie and Chandra break down how mixing business and personal finances can distort your profit, make owner pay inconsistent, and leave you making major business decisions with numbers you cannot trust. They also walk you through six realistic steps to separate your accounts, create an owner-pay process, complete a sixty-day credit card reset, and start tracking your money in a way you can actually keep up with. S2E68 Is Social Media Ruining the Beauty Industry? Unrealistic Expectations, AI Photos & “Overcharging”

Social media has completely changed client expectations in the beauty industry. TikTok, Instagram, AI-generated inspiration photos, viral pricing debates, and accusations of “overcharging” are affecting beauty service prices, client behavior, and the reputations of salon and spa professionals. Brie and Chandra unpack what happens when online opinions are treated like facts—and real beauty businesses are left dealing with the consequences. S2E67. Would You Work For Yourself As A Salon, Spa, or Beauty Business Owner?

What would it actually feel like to work for you? In this episode of The Beauty Biz Breakdown, we’re talking about a question every salon and spa owner needs to ask themselves honestly: if you were an employee, would you want to be led by you? This conversation is not about beating yourself up or blaming every team issue on leadership. Sometimes you do have the wrong people. Sometimes team members do need to be coached, corrected, or let go. But before you make the whole story about your team not listening, not caring, or not following through, you have to be willing to look at what it is actually like to work under your leadership. We’re talking about the small patterns that can quietly shape your culture, like inconsistent follow-through, mood-based leadership, favorites, avoiding hard conversations, protecting the wrong person for too long, and letting old workplace patterns show up in your business without realizing it. You’ll also walk through a simple leadership exercise to help you look at the kind of boss you would want to work for, the kind of boss you would never want to work for, and where your current leadership habits may be helping or hurting your team. Because your best people are not just asking if they can work for you. They are asking if they want to keep building their future under you. If you’re ready to build a stronger, more profitable, more predictable beauty business with better systems, clearer leadership, and a team that actually has something solid to grow inside of, visit thebeautybizagency.com to grab our free resources or learn more about coaching with The Beauty Biz Agency. S2E65 Your Google Business Profile Is Costing Your Salon Money & Clients

Your future clients are already looking for you on Google. The real question is, are they finding you or are they finding the salon or spa down the street? In part one of this Google Business Profile series, we are talking about why your Google profile matters so much for salon and spa owners who want more local visibility, more new clients, and a stronger online presence. If your profile has been sitting there untouched, missing information, old photos, barely any reviews, or no real updates, it may be costing you bookings without you even realizing it. This episode breaks down why your Google Business Profile matters, how it impacts local SEO, and why it needs to be part of your salon or spa marketing strategy. S2E64 Things Salon Owners Used to Say That Would Get Them Canceled Today

There was a time in the beauty industry when certain things were just understood. You showed up on time. You greeted clients with a smile. You helped clean up. You learned by watching. You respected the salon owner, the client experience, and the opportunity in front of you. Today, some of those same expectations can get twisted into something they were never meant to be. This conversation is about the old-school salon advice, team expectations, customer service standards, and work ethic conversations that used to be completely normal inside salons and spas, but today might get a salon owner called harsh, toxic, outdated, or completely canceled. Brie and Chandra are breaking down the difference between abusive leadership and actual standards, why so many salon and spa owners feel like they are walking on eggshells in their own businesses, and how the beauty industry has sometimes overcorrected in a way that leaves owners afraid to lead. This episode talks about commission salon culture, team expectations, salon leadership, client experience, service standards, accountability, work ethic, and what it really takes to build a healthy, profitable salon or spa business in today’s industry. For the salon owner, spa owner, commission salon owner, beauty business owner, stylist, esthetician, or team leader who has ever thought, “Am I allowed to expect this anymore?” — this one is going to hit. S2E63 Salon Owner Guilt: The Hidden Shame and Pressure Behind Building a Beauty Business

Salon owner guilt is real, but what if the feeling you keep calling guilt is actually shame, pressure, fear, sadness, over-responsibility, or old expectations you were taught to live under? So many salon owners and beauty business owners feel pulled in every direction — trying to be a good mom, a good wife, a strong leader, a present business owner, a supportive boss, and still somehow keep the salon or spa growing. That pressure can create burnout, decision fatigue, people-pleasing, weak boundaries, leadership guilt, mom guilt, business owner guilt, and the constant feeling that no matter what you do, it is never enough. This conversation breaks down the difference between real guilt, shame, sadness, fear, pressure, responsibility, and over-responsibility, and why naming the feeling correctly matters so much for women in business. When salon owners mislabel every heavy feeling as guilt, they often try to fix it by doing more, working harder, over-explaining, avoiding hard conversations, ignoring boundaries, or proving they are still a good mom, good wife, good leader, or good woman. For salon and spa owners building a beauty business, leading a team, raising a family, navigating marriage, setting boundaries, managing clients, growing revenue, and trying to become the CEO of their life and business, this conversation is a reminder that not every heavy feeling is truth. If you are a salon owner, spa owner, beauty business owner, commission salon owner, hairstylist turned CEO, or female entrepreneur who struggles with guilt, shame, burnout, leadership pressure, people-pleasing, mom guilt, boundaries, emotional responsibility, or feeling like you have to be everything to everyone, this one is for you.
