223. ONE Question to Dismantle the Industry's Dirty Little Secret and Avoid Burning Down a Great Business

Ever wonder what multi-six and seven-figure business owners actually talk about when no one's watching? One of my  peers, who runs a $600k/year business with an 80% profit margin, met me for coffee here in NYC. And we didn't hold back.  We talked about the investments that have and haven't been worth it, what's actually working in marketing right now, the real math behind "passive income," and what we wish more people understood about scaling. Including the dirty little secret nobody in this industry wants to say out loud: a lot of the people teaching you how to scale to multi-millions aren't taking home anywhere close to what you think they are. And chasing that number and business model, without understanding what it actually costs, is exactly how smart, profitable business owners end up burning down something great. In Episode 223, I'm unpacking ONE Question to dismantle the industry's dirty little secret and avoid burning down a great business, and how to use your answer to change how you make every strategic decision in your business. In this episode, you'll hear: The real math behind a well-known $10M/year business and what she actually takes home, why it's still impressive, and what it tells you about the true cost of that model. Why "just do what feels good" isn't a scaling strategy and what to do instead. The counterintuitive truth about scaling that nobody wants to hear, and why it's actually the thing that helps you make more. ONE Question to cut through the noise, expose the tradeoffs hiding inside every business model, and know exactly where to focus to scale smarter for the results that actually matter to you. 222. ONE Question to Claim the Success Already Right in Front of You

There's a pattern I notice in myself as a high achiever and in all of my clients that makes it easy for us to "trick" ourselves and our coaches into buying the stories and excuses that limit our results, revenue, and growth. It's also why there's a specific quality I look for in every coach I hire  in and outside of business. In Episode 222, I'm sharing ONE Question to Claim the Success Already Right in Front of You. In this episode, you'll hear: How high achievers convince people around them of their limitations, why those people buy the story, and why understanding this is the key to breaking past your self-made ceiling. Why this conversation is relevant for your business results even if you don't identify as a high achiever, and the truth about the work for all of us at every level. The specific quality I look for in any coach I hire and why it matters if you want to scale past industry average. What "secondary gains" are and how to use this question to identify the payoff you're getting from staying exactly where you are. The surprising thing my client who scaled to a $115k month and million dollar year thanked me for, why it made her laugh, and what it means for the success you're already sitting on. 221. ONE Question to Unlock Your Private Badass (And Own the Business Results That Follow)

About 17 years ago, my therapist asked me a question I didn't have an answer to. We were talking about my acting career, and he said something along the lines of: I wonder what would happen if you were confident. If you believed in yourself. If you could see yourself the way other people see you. I've been thinking about that question a lot lately because I finally have an answer, and it's not one I expected. Because it turns out, the question was never really about getting confident. In Episode 221, I'm unpacking ONE Question to unlock your private badass and own the business results that follow. In this episode, you'll hear: Why confidence isn't a prerequisite for results in the way we're told, and where it actually does limit your growth, visibility, sales, and revenue. The four levels of confidence and what's really keeping you stuck in business (it's not your strategy). The sneaky way high-achievers hide in plain sight and what to shift to take up more space and scale. 220. ONE Question to stretch your capacity for the good stuff (success, money, and joy) without upper limiting

I just finished crying at my desk. Not because things are bad, but because they're so good. I'm a happy crier, but I also find the good stuff in business can sometimes be overwhelming to my nervous system. Stretching my capacity to receive, have, and hold the good stuff (the success, money, and joy) has been my work at every level of business. It's also what I support so many of my high achieving six, multi-six, and seven-figure clients with as well. Because scaling is solving for a capacity problem, and we can't scale past our own internal threshold and tolerance for success. In Episode 220, I'm unpacking ONE Question to stretch your capacity for the good stuff (success, money, and joy) without upper limiting. In this episode, you'll hear: Why so many high achievers can catastrophize about things that haven't happened but can't sit in what's already working, and what's actually driving that. What upper limiting is, why it's not sabotage, and how it caps your revenue and your capacity to scale. The three types of capacity every business owner needs to solve for to scale sustainably, and the one most of us ignore that's most important. Why feeling safe in a crisis but unsafe in the calm is more common than you think, and what it's costing you. ONE Question I've been asking myself to stretch my tolerance for the good stuff and how to use it to do your own fear inventory. 219. ONE Question for Buy-In and Empowered Yesses to Sell Without the Ick

I know sales gets a bad rap, but I actually love being sold to. I just don't like it when I haven't raised my hand or when it's gross, pushy, or manipulative. I also know that's how a lot of sales teaching is approached, which is why so many of us have either been on the receiving end of a bad experience or been taught tactics that just feel bad to use. In Episode 219, I'm sharing ONE Question for buy-in and empowered yesses to sell without the ick. This is something I ask on every single sales call (and I've been told how good and refreshing my approach feels). In this episode, you'll hear: The exact question and two variations I ask on every sales call to create a safer container, return power to the person in front of me, and remove pressure from the buying process. Why sales end up feeling gross and my philosophy and approach that mimics coaching instead of convincing. What most sales teaching misses and what I actually think about hearing "no." How and where I use this question on discovery calls to help the person in front of me feel at choice and sell themselves instead of the other way around. The unintentional role reversal you want to avoid in your sales process and how to use this question without stepping out of your leadership or confidence. 218. ONE Question Behind the Skillset Every CEO Needs to Scale Their Revenue (without making it harder than it needs to be)

There's one thing I see in common with every single one of my clients getting big results right now, whether that's $70k in new sales, a sold out group program, a $19k sales week, or a $57k cash month. It's also the very thing I didn't do at the start of my business and again in 2024, when I had one of my more challenging years. And it's exactly what I shifted in 2025 to add $100k of additional revenue and what's making me feel extra giddy and lit up about my client work right now. That's why in Episode 218, I'm unpacking ONE Question behind the skillset every CEO needs to scale their revenue (without making it harder than it needs to be). In this episode, you'll hear: How we get in our own way and make it nearly impossible to see opportunities and get bigger results. My beef with the concept of self-sabotage, and how I think about and approach our less helpful thoughts and patterns instead. A parable and ONE Question I use to pattern interrupt and manage my mindset so I can show up neutrally as a CEO and run at momentum, sales, and serving clients. What I shifted in 2024 to stop losing time and energy digging holes in my business and climb out of them, add $100k in revenue, and sustain $40k+ cash months. 217. ONE Question for Clients Who Pick You and Can't Wait to Pay You

There's really not as much competition as you think, and I want to prove it to you. We think the market is saturated. We think we need another certification, a bigger audience, or shinier branding and results to make sales. Not that those things don't matter. But, that makes it tough to stand out when we're all chasing the same things to look good on paper. But what if the thing that actually makes people hire you, and keep paying you, has more to do with something else? In Episode 217, I'm breaking down ONE Question for clients who pick you (and can't wait to pay YOU). This is exactly what I've been asking for over 8 years, that's behind my fully booked, in-demand practice and $2.1M in revenue (hint: this is the real driver behind every marketing and sales strategy that actually works.) In this episode, you'll hear: The real reasons people buy and what actually drives investing decisions, and why being good on paper and your social media following have less to do with it than the online gurus make us think. Exactly why my husband picked his personal trainer and paid in full, from what his coach did that made him the obvious choice in a gym full of credentialed options to what his past two trainers did that cost them a repeat client. My 3-part Social Currency framework for building strategic and leveraged relationships, and why without it, you'll work harder for fewer results no matter how good your strategy is. ONE Question that's been at the core of my fully booked high level 1:1 coaching practice, keeps my pipeline full, and is behind $2.1M in revenue, and how to use it to attract more clients who already know you're the right person for them. 216. ONE Question to Double Down on What's Actually Making You the Most Money (And Cut What Isn't)

One of the most challenging things as business owners is knowing where to focus and invest our time, energy, and resources. It seems like this would get easier as we scale, but I've found the bigger your business and results, the more options you have, the more expenses increase, and the harder it becomes to know what's actually working and worth it. That's why in Episode 216, I'm unpacking ONE Question to double down on what's actually making you the most money and cut what isn't. In this episode, you'll hear: Why marketing feels hard for those of us who "talk feelings" and what to focus on instead to enjoy the process and get bigger results. My Substack journey, the "gap phase," why it's confusing even as a successful business owner, and what I looked at to decide whether to quit or stick with it…and how that led to 116 new subscribers in 6 days. A different way to assess rising business costs and how to know when an expense is making you money and when it's time to cut it. The first thing I come back to when I'm feeling unclear on the right next strategic move in my business. A reminder for every heart-centered therapist, coach, and service provider who leads with people first, and what's also true when it comes to sales and revenue. 215. ONE Question I've used to book right-fit clients, make sales, and scale to $2.1M (without doing what everyone else told me to)

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me I can't scale 1:1 or suggested I have a bad "money mindset" for not chasing a bigger business, I'd be even richer than I already am. I don't think everyone should have an all high level coaching practice, most of my clients don't. But I do know how often over my decade in business I've had other models pushed on me, and how often the resistance I felt got labeled as fear, self-sabotage, or just not wanting it badly enough. I'm so grateful that instead of listening to other people's projections, I asked myself a better question to find my own answer…and scale my coaching business to over $2.1M my way. That's why I'm unpacking ONE Question I've used to book right-fit clients, make sales, and scale to $2.1M without doing what everyone else told me to. And why getting this wrong is one of the most expensive mistakes I see therapists, coaches, and other service providers make In Episode 215, you'll hear: Why the same situation, same feeling, and even the same response can mean completely different things, and why a one-size-fits-all answer will move you further from the business results you actually want. The question that helped me choose the right business model and scale to over $2.1M, even when everyone around me had a very different opinion about what I should do. How to use this in your sales process to stop leaving right-fit clients on the table and stop working so hard to close the wrong ones. How to know when resistance is your biggest growth edge and when listening to it is actually the smartest business move you can make.   Episode Links: Join Kim on Substack at Business Inside Out here Connect with Kim on IG: @kimargetsinger Book a free coaching consultation here Kim's website

214. One Question to Make Decisions Like a CEO and Come Out Ahead in Any Economy

The online space is loud right now, and the fearmongering is even louder. I've heard everything from AI is coming for all of our jobs to high ticket is dead and no one's buying coaching anymore. These are the conversations happening behind closed doors and publicly in Facebook groups, masterminds, and in content. My clients have also celebrated record-breaking income months and sold out launches. And I just made two new high ticket investments in my own business this week. So, what's actually true and what should you listen to? In Episode 214, I'm answering that question and following it up with ONE Question to make your next best business decision like a CEO and come out ahead  in any economy. In this episode, you'll hear: The truth about self-fulfilling prophecies, why they aren't all woo, and how to take your power back and create the one you actually want in any economy. What the 1929 bank runs have to do with coaches pulling back on selling or discounting, and how smart service providers talk themselves into harming their own businesses. What you need to understand about a recession and what it actually means if one is announced (because we're not in one right now). ONE Question that separates the CEOs who come out ahead from the ones who contract, and how to use it to make your next business decision with confidence.   Episode Links: Join Kim on Substack at Business Inside Out here Connect with Kim on IG: @kimargetsinger Book a free coaching consultation here Kim's website
