Biz and Tech Podcasts > Business > Mt. Nebo Leadership Podcast: Leaders Lift
Helping leaders, existing and aspiring, to lift themselves and others to new heights. Do we have enough true leadership in the world? I'm talking about leaders that want to lead in order to make a difference. To help everyone around them do and be better. It is not uncommon to find leaders that are in the game for the power, notoriety, title, money, etc. The pursuit of those for the wrong reasons can easily pull someone away from real leadership. Real leaders lift. They lift themselves and everyone around them. This podcast is focused on helping current and aspiring leaders with stories, principles, tools, discussion and support - all the things needed to lift themselves and others to new heights.

This week on the Gadgets for Families Tech show, Jason and I had a pretty lengthy and in-depth conversation about the concept of Digital Nomadism. What is digital nomadism?Would we consider it?What cultural shifts are or need to take place? Those are some of the questions we discussed and I thought it was a good topic for this audience as well. I hope you get something out of it.If you would like to hear the whole conversation you can do so on YouTube or your podcast player.YouTubePodcastThanks and enjoy!
Welcome to Leader's Lift. I'm your host Greg Cunningham. Today I want to announce that I'm going to be putting a pause on this podcast. I've got several other priorities hitting right now and this is one of the things I have on my plate that falls below the cut off point in my priority list. I don't think this will be a permanent hiatus and I'm going to leave everything in place to be able to drop a random episode if I have a burning topic that I just want to share with everyone. For the next while, I just won't be committing to any sort of a regular publication schedule. If you have enjoyed the show, I'd love to get that feedback and if there is something I should consider in the future, please let me know that as well. You can find a contact form on my website at www.mtneboconsulting.com. I hope that over the last year you have found at least a few things that you are using today to get more out of your own life or to help someone else do so. That was my goal with this. If you have any stories you'd like to share, I'd love to hear those as well. Until you hear from me again, I hope you will go out there and keep lifting.
SummaryThis week I spend a few minutes talking about why I believe curiosity is an important, yet underdeveloped skill. Key TakeawaysCuriosity is more than wanting to know something. It's about wanting to know and then use that knowledge to get more out of life.Everything changes and if you aren't curious, you may just get left behind.Without curiosity, you will never know if you are really getting the most out of life.Curiosity can be developed. If we put in the effort to develop curiosity as a skill, we will move forward down the path to our most potential.Join me for this curious (pun intended) discussion.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Intro 0:28What is Curiosity 01:55Why is Curiosity Important 02:53How to We Develop Curiosity 06:40Getting More Out of Life 15:39Wrap Up 19:21ResourcesYouTube ChannelMt. SummaryOne of my keys this year is figuring out how to be more deliberate about the most important things I'm working on. If you have that same goal, then a tool that may help you do so is to figure out what kind of journaling works for you.Key TakeawaysJournaling has clear advantages like getting thoughts somewhere we can refer to or helping us brainstorm or sort through ideas.First, understand why and what you want to journal. If you are just starting out with journaling, keep it simple.Like your mvp, start with little wins that help you build momentum. My journaling "system" has evolved over time and yours should too.Join me for the discussion on how I plan to be more deliberate in 2024 through journaling.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Leaders Lift Evolution 00:18Topic Intro 01:41 Benefits of Journaling 05:25How To Ideas 09:48My Experience Journaling 13:46Wrap Up 25:08ResourcesYouTube ChannelMt. SummaryIn part four of this series, let's talk about how letting go actually gains us more (of many things). We have to learn to say no to good and even some pretty great things in order to focus on the things that matter most.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Intro 00:27Setting the Stage 02:17Examples 05:01Benefits for Leaders 06:45General Benefits 08:31Wrap Up 11:45Key TakeawaysIn order to focus on the things that matter most, we are going to have to say no to other things, even good or really good things.Saying no is one way to make significant progress on the path to our most potential and to avoid false progress.Leaders and those they lead can benefit from the leader saying no to things and delegating.Overall we will see less stress and regret if we focus on the things that matter most.ResourcesYouTube ChannelMt. SummaryThis is part two of my end of year series and is focused on the concept of a "minimum viable plan". This is an adaptation of agile software development methodology. Think of it as building the minimum plan to help get you where you want to go and then consistently iterating on that plan as you learn and move down the path to your most potential.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Intro 00:22My adapted definition of agile 01:51How I've seen agile work 03:58Applying these ideas to development plans 06:46Application to end of year planning 09:25Wrap Up 16:45Key TakeawaysMinimum viable plan: what is the minimum plan that will help me get where I want to goDon't buil a plan that is so rigid that if you can't follow it, you give up.Build in flexibilitySmall and simple things make the biggest differenceBuild momentum earlyIdentify early opportunities to identify if you are on the right path or if you need to course correctResourcesYouTube ChannelMt. SummaryThis is part one of what I hope will be a four part series covering tools and concepts you can use if you are going to be involved in anyway in an end of year assessment, new years resolutions or anything like that. Topic one is the dangers of comparisons. Let's talk about different kinds of comparisons, why they are a problem, what we can do about them and how this applies to end of year stuff.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Intro 00:26The Problems with Comparisons 02:42Comparing Ourselves to Others 04:52Social Media Comparisons 07:02Comparing Ourselves to Ourselves 11:44How to Address This 13:54Application to End of Year 20:12Wrap Up 22:14Key TakeawaysComparing anything to anything comes almost as easily as breathing.Comparing ourselves to anyone else is a big no no.Social media comparisons can cause huge issues. When comparing ourselves to ourselves, we need to be deliberate and only do good comparisons. If we work at it, we can limit how often comparisons take us down a rabbit hole.Avoiding comparisons is a good way to improve the quality of our end of year assessments.ResourcesYouTube ChannelMt. SummaryA little bit different topic for this week's episode. This is an initial discussion about the voices that we listen to or the sources of information that we allow to influence our lives and eventually help us form our own voices. There are so many voices, way too many our negative and yet we still need to find a way to sort through them, avoid comparisons and find confidence in our own voice that will help us get where we need to go. So let's discuss.Key Topics & Time StampsWelcome 00:00Intro 00:29Story Time 01:30What Voices There Are 03:09The Challenge with the Voices 03:50The Challenge Comparison 06:25How We Should Think About This 09:11Wrap Up 19:10Key TakeawaysThere are more voices today than there ever have beenMany, if not most of those voices are negative. We get overwhelmed with them and we end up in comparison land which is never good.We need to sort through these voices in order to find our own.We need to avoid comparisons to anyone or anything else.We also need to find the confidence in our own voice so it can move us to the place of most potentialResourcesYouTube ChannelMt.
