Richard Martin: The Richard Martin Trail

It’s the Year of the Trails and Chamber President Pammie Jimmar talks with THE Richard Martin, namesake of the Richard Martin Trail in Limestone County, AL. Beginning in 1979, Richard was the chief trailblazer who oversaw the organization:  fundraising, mapping, politicking, connecting with local community leaders as well as the national Rails to Trails Conservancy. The result is a beautiful and historic 11-mile hike through ever-changing scenery past historic Civil War Battle sites. Richard concludes trails and spending time in nature builds families and strong communities. He gives credit to all who helped make the trail possible along with the many additional hiking, biking, canoe and kayaking trails in Limestone County. Chef Bill's menu changes five times a year, with seasonal offerings and new specials. Pastors Jason Parks and Andrew Murray: Refuge Church

Athens-Limestone Chamber President, Pammie Jimmar, welcomes Jason Parks and Andrew Murray, pastors from Refuge Church. Refuge is a non-denominational church serving multiple locations in North Alabama. A needs based ministry, they have found food security to be an issue in Limestone County. Partnering with local businesses, they sponsor food distribution drives and last year gave away over 120,000 pounds of groceries! Their work in recovery ministry has sparked plans to open a future Christian Counseling Center. Refuge Church also sponsors the yearly event, NIGHT TO SHINE, a prom night for people with special needs hosted by local churches worldwide.
