MWM Episode 33: Halo Effect Marketing: How Your Facebook Ads Quietly Drive Amazon Sales

Halo Effect Marketing: How Your Facebook Ads Quietly Drive Amazon Sales We keep seeing the same pattern with brands that sell on both Shopify and Amazon. The founder looks at Meta results in Shopify, decides the ads are barely breaking even, and cuts spend. A few weeks later, Amazon sales soften too, and nobody connects the two. That is halo effect marketing working in reverse, and it costs brands real money every month. In this post, we will explain what the halo is, why your Shopify numbers can’t see it, and how to estimate it with reports you already have access to. Then we will show you what to do with the answer. That last part matters most, because it decides how much you can afford to spend to grow. Full blog post here.

MWM Episode 32: What to Expect From a Marketing Agency in the First 90 Days

What to Expect From a Marketing Agency in the First 90 Days Before the checklist itself, it helps to know the rough shape of a healthy start. MWM Episode 31: Marketing Agency Contract Red Flags

Marketing Agency Contract Red Flags: 10 Clauses Every DTC Founder Should Check Full blog post here. A marketing agency contract tells you more about an agency than its pitch deck does. The pitch is the agency at its best. The contract is how the agency plans to act when results slip, a key person quits or you decide to leave. If you run a DTC brand at around $2.5M in revenue and you have been burned before, the contract is where you protect yourself. It is also where a trustworthy agency shows you it has nothing to hide. We have run C4 Social for 12 years, and we have seen contracts from both sides of the table. Founders often bring us agreements from past agencies and ask what went wrong. Usually the trouble was written into the paperwork from the start, and nobody read it closely enough to see it. This post is the checklist we wish every founder had before signing. One important note: we are marketers, not lawyers, and this is not legal advice. Use this checklist to work out what to ask and what to push back on. Then have a qualified attorney review any contract before you sign it.

MWM Episode 30: Agency or In-House Marketing? Here's How to Decide Fast

In House Marketing vs Agency: The Honest Decision Checklist for a $2.5M DTC Brand Full blog post here. At around $2.5M in revenue, most founders hit the same fork in the road. You have outgrown doing the marketing yourself, and you have to decide between in house marketing vs agency support. Usually, you are making that choice with a tight budget and maybe one bad experience already behind you. This post gives you an honest checklist for making the call. It includes the situations where hiring an agency, including ours, is the wrong answer. We run an agency, so you should read this with healthy skepticism. That is fine. In fact, we built this checklist to hold up even if you never speak to us.

MWM Episode 29: How to Choose a Marketing Agency That Thinks Like a Founder

How to Choose a Marketing Agency That Thinks Like a Founder Full blog post HERE. If an agency has burned you before, you’re not alone, and you’re not being paranoid. Most founders we talk to have a story like this one: a great pitch with senior people on the call, then a junior account manager and a monthly report full of impressions. So when someone asks us how to choose a marketing agency, our answer is simple. Pick the one that looks at your business the way you do. This post is meant to be used, not just read. Below is a founder scorecard with ten tests you can run during any agency’s sales process, including ours. Each test tells you what a good answer sounds like and what red flag to watch for. If you also want a list of questions for the first call, we cover that in our founder’s first call checklist . This scorecard goes further. It looks at what agencies show you through their behavior, and it helps you compare two or three of them side by side.

MWM Episode 28: Questions to Ask a Marketing Agency Before You Sign

Questions to Ask a Marketing Agency Before You Sign: The Founder’s First Call Checklist Cory Warren · October 27, 2026 If an agency has burned you before, you’re not alone, and you’re not being paranoid. Most founders we talk to have a story like this: a polished pitch, a senior strategist who disappeared after kickoff, and monthly reports full of reach and engagement that never showed up in the bank account. This guide gives you the questions to ask a marketing agency on the first call. For each one, we cover what a good answer sounds like and the red flag that should end the conversation. We should be upfront: we run an agency, so we have a stake in this. Even so, we’d rather you hire the right partner, even if it isn’t us, than go through another bad experience that puts you off outside help for good. This checklist is written for founders running brands at around $2.5M, where every hire and every dollar has to earn its place. Full blog post: HERE
