Ep. 147 Financial Progress Fueled By Gratitude

Waiting for your savings to grow and your debt to be paid off can be hard. I remember the days of our financial lack when I thought we would never be able to take a vacation or go out to a fancy dinner. It was exhausting trying to wait on God with expectancy without yet seeing any evidence of financial abundance. Waiting to reach your financial goals can be hard! Whether you're working toward paying off debt, building your savings or increasing your income, it's easy to get frustrated when things aren't happening as quickly as you'd like. But the Bible says in Colossians that patience is the power to endure long suffering with a good temper. We convince ourselves we should be further along with our money than we are and sometimes forget to celebrate how far we've already come. Ep. 146 The Power of Inviting God Into Your Finances

There is something really special about building your personal financial plan with Jesus. I remember the days of our financial lack. I was trying to build the budget myself without praying about it. It was a disaster. For some reason I felt like I didn't need to bring him along. Looking back, it would have made my life so much easier. I spiraled trying to maneuver paying down debt, saving, spending, tracking, investing and all the things. And it wore me out. Thank goodness I now know better. A short conversation with God can take a thousand pounds of weight off. Ep. 145 Ask, Don't Tell: Raising Financially Independent kids

As a mom who has always wanted to instill independence in my boys, this is what I did to help raise my boys so they have never asked us for money. Like ever. I was very careful about telling them what to do. Instead, I wanted to try and equip them to make their own good decisions, especially when it came to two things: who they hang out with and their money. In this episode you will hear: What my son said when I asked him how it felt to never need to ask us for money Key questions that help my children gain independence with their finances Two reasons it's awesome that my kids don't need our help with money Things we exposed our children to (that most parents wouldn't) The one question I constantly asked myself as we were raising our boys Scripture verse: Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. I remember taking my kids to the county fair and having to watch every dollar we spent because there was only so much money available. One of my dreams was to someday take them to the fair, let them go on every ride, play the games, eat the food, and enjoy the entire day without worrying about how much everything cost. Thankfully, that day did come. And that's what I want for you, too. Whether you're saving for a vacation, an elegant dinner out, a fun new outfit, routine massages, or another experience you've been dreaming about, you can create a simple savings plan that allows you to enjoy your money without the stress or debt that can come with it.
