A former professional photographer to a celebrated author - Kim Gottlieb-Walker

I had a wonderful conversation with Kim. She has a great sense of humor and I love it. She is now in her 70s and still moving around and being productive. Get ready to be inspired by the incredible career of Kim Gottlieb-Walker! Her lens captured everything from the vibrant energy of '60s and '70s rock, reggae, and political movements to the magic of blockbuster movies and hit TV shows. Even while studying at UCLA and shortly after, she was snapping photos for underground LA publications like Crawdaddy and Music World. But that's not all! She was the official stills photographer for iconic John Carpenter films such as Halloween, The Fog, Christine, and Escape from New York. For nine years, she was the go-to production photographer at Paramount Pictures for the legendary sitcoms Cheers, and then spent five years doing the same for Family Ties. On top of all that, Kim dedicated three decades to advocating for still photographers as an elected representative on the National Executive Board of IATSE Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild. A former wedding planner who starts a new journey... Meet Author Sandy Malone

I had the pleasure of chatting with Sandy, and let me tell you, her energy is contagious! I could easily spend all day talking to her. We had such a relaxed vibe, which made for an incredibly enjoyable conversation. She shared a hilarious story from her days as a wedding planner seriously, it was too wild to be made up! Sandy and her husband, Bill, organized over 500 destination weddings in the Caribbean during an incredible 11-year run before Hurricane Maria changed everything. They've witnessed some jaw-dropping moments that most genteel families wouldn't dare mention after the celebration ends. Now, she's pivoted from planning to penning a fictional series about a wedding planner who must rebuild her life on another island post-storm, drawing on all the outrageous experiences from the weddings they managed. When I say that S.E. Tschritter has a heart of gold, trust me on that! Our chat was both warm and deeply meaningful. I felt truly honored to connect with someone so kind and empathetic. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Samantha, I didn't want to stop speaking with her. One of the best conversations. Sam E. Wow! I just had an incredible conversation with Patrick Sangimino! We clicked instantly, and our chat was bursting with energy and laughter. I can’t even begin to describe how fantastic Patrick is. I’m so eager for our second interview! Patrick took a timeout and pulled to the side of the road to have the best conversation with me, which was super awesome. For over forty years, Patrick was a distinguished journalist, making his mark at various newspapers in California and across the Midwest before retiring in 2024. He spent eight seasons covering the NFL, skillfully balancing his time between news and sports as both a columnist and editor. His journey began as the sports editor of a one-man sports department at the Pacifica Tribune, his local weekly paper. Fast forward five years, and he found himself covering the NFL for the Olathe Daily News, nestled in a Kansas City suburb just across the state line. After an exciting eight-season run there, he joined KMBC, the top ABC station in Kansas City. As the senior editor for their website, he penned a nationally syndicated column that reached audiences through all 64 Hearst-Argyle properties across the country. In 2006, a career-changing opportunity arose when his wife landed a prestigious position at a Fortune 500 company, prompting their move to Wichita, Kansas. He became the managing editor of the Wichita Business Journal, a role he embraced for three years before diving back into sports journalism as the sports editor and columnist at the Hutchinson News, the state's third-largest newspaper at the time. In 2014, his wife's job relocated them once again, this time to Omaha, Nebraska, where he contributed to the Omaha World-Herald before securing a position with the Lincoln Journal Star in 2018.After holding onto his position until his retirement in 2024, he made the journey back to sunny California—specifically Sunnyvale, right at the heart of Silicon Valley. There, he aimed to help his siblings take away the car keys from their now 87-year-old mother. Patrick's book, “Dogs Chase Cars,” offers a compelling look at the decline of the newspaper industry, seen through the eyes of a seasoned Kansas City sports columnist. On a November Friday, he heads to work, fully aware that he might be yet another victim in an industry that has faced devastating losses over the years.
