Jay Ramone Podcast w/ Ryan McNeill from Debate Team

The lesson of the story is, don't wait to send that message or reach out to your friends & catch up. Ryan McNeill & I grew up in Southern Oklahoma together, going to elementary school together in Healdton, Oklahoma. Our families lives were intertwined through their professions, so needless to say, Ryan & I know each other fairly well. In our teenage years, Ryan, as well as his older brothers were musical influencers.... tastemakers.... Always had the coolest band tshirts & were listening to something no one else had even heard of before. in 2002, I went to NYC to cover the CMJ Music Festival / Conference. During that trip i reconnected with Ryan & went to a show in Brooklyn as he showing me the city. Fast forward to 2026 & Ryan has worked in advertising in Manhattan, worked on Deadliest Catch in Alaska, as well as formed a band called "Debate Team" w/ members of OkGo & One Republic. I sent Ryan a message & asked him to be a guest on the podcast b/c at the end of July, Ryan & his family are relocating to Madrid. In this episode we will talk about his career, musical influences, growing up in Oklahoma, & ultimately navigating a major life change in moving to a different country.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jay Ramone Podcast w/ Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup

This weekend, Bowling For Soup celebrates their 32nd Birthday with Bowling For Soup Night w/ The Frisco Roughriders on Thursday, their Official Birthday show in Texas on Friday & then headlining The Big Ride in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday. Jaret was one of the 1st major label artists that i interviewed back in my college radio days. We did a phone interview to promote a tour stop in Tulsa at a venue called "Curly's" just after they had released "Lets Do it For Johnny"... After that i saw them 3 or 4 times a year between Tulsa, Stillwater, OKC, Dallas, Denton, & once in New York City. Jaret was gracious enough to let my old band open for them a couple of times at the Cains Ballroom when Drunk Enough To Dance was out & the entire band & crew have always been so nice to me over the years. I haven't interviewed anyone in the band in numerous years, i've only attended shows as a fan and have slowly been building my BFS vinyl collection. It was nice to catch up after all these years & its really cool to see BFS continue to get bigger & bigger. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jay Ramone Podcast w/ Dustin from the band "Groucho" ...

In this episode, I am joined by Dustin from the Tulsa band "Groucho". I've known Dustin for 25+ years, through various points in our lives, various bands, artistic or professional projects. Originally, we became friends online through a message board / Music Community, that was all musicians from local Tulsa bands called Tulsa Music Pulse. After a few years of knowing each other & seeing each other at shows, Dustin joined an established Tulsa band that i was a big fan of called "Wreckless Process"... After that Dustin continued to play in various bands over the years, & had talked about the idea of opening a place where bands could develop, rehearse, take lessons, put on their own shows, etc.... That idea with another friend ultimately became whats known as Noise Town in Tulsa, Ok. About 10 years ago, Dustin formed the band "Groucho" & has continuously put out new music & concepts with a creative purpose. I am always happy to be able to throw up some microphones & cameras and talk with Dustin because each time, i learn something new about his musical endeavors that i didnt know. Thank You for listening! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
